If you're looking for a game that will make you poop yourself.... This is it. I had a blast playing this. The Intensity of the atmosphere had me on my toes and butt clinched the entire time. Soundtrack amazing. I highly suggest this game to anyone interested in indie horror games. I can't wait until the next project comes out.

If you enjoy Vidas Games, then this is something you'll like. If you don't know who this is, then you may feel different. What I enjoy is the world you are place in. This includes the atmosphere present and the story shown. I enjoyed the environment, but the story felt like "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". You walked a good two minutes to reach either end of the map in order to collect a total of three "Ancients". Each had their own housing area with a jumpscare attack present. I would be fine with this if dying wasn't so punishing. There is no save and you have to start from the beginning if you died at any moment. Dying extending my gameplay three times what it was meant to be. It's scary to be chased and at times the area is unsettling, but that is it. It's an okay game, but it has you walking a lot with the threat of starting over.

I'm really starting to warm to Vidas's games. This was indeed an enjoyable little romp. With the threat of permadeath on my mind, I was positively tense the entire 20 minutes it takes to run through this. In theory, it doesn't sound that interesting - run to 3 locations, run back, then run to those same locations, and then run back. But the layers of atmosphere that the game establishes in such a short space of time, combined with more scares than you could shake a stick at, this game remains completely obtuse and impenetrable in terms of its world and it's lore, but it's a delight to soak up.

This game is awesome. Loved it. It has an amazing horror atmosphere and is really worth a play through. The story is subtle and intriguing to keep you playing and wondering what you are trying to do. There are probably things I didn't find or do with only one play through. It was an awesome game especially for the price. It was also unexpectedly polished for the price. I ask you for your forgiveness for not even remembering the slightest about the story of "Daardoa". Sure, I read on Steam that you must bring the ancients to the church and run away from Daardoa but other than that, nothing else. Well, I remember the endings…I don't even know what happened.
Gameplay wise even if you are encouraged to find the ancients in any order you like, there isn’t anything different to encounter unrelated to the main quest. The unnecessary walking is present obviously, so you need a lot of patience to reach your different destinations. The scares are thankfully very effective.
I will say "Daardoa" is one of the weakest titles of Vidas. That doesn't mean of course you won't find enjoyment if you regularly buy his games.

Vidas Games never disappoint with the scares, let's just get that out of the way right now. If you are after a short horror experience with multiple levels of lore & story telling then this is your game.
SOUND:
As always, the killer soundtrack from Vidas Games is still very present. The guitar tracks are awesome & the self aware style makes it apparent that you are playing one of their horror games.
Ambient sounds are also taken very seriously with well timed jumps that don't feel tacky. They are methodical & work well within the context of the game.
VISUALS:
I am a huge fan of symbolism & abstract imagery & this game has a really well designed play area. The trees are an off colour blue, the sky is black as is the water. The body horror imagery is also quite unnerving (NO SPOILERS) but holy hell, this one part freaked me out good.
The whole package is put together really nicely & compliment each other well.
DESIGN:
The creatures & the layout of the map feel fresh & original. I don't actually remember seeing anything quite like this in any other game. The mechanics of navigation are well thought out & add an extra layer of mystery to this story.
STORY:
Without giving too much away, the story requires multiple playthroughs as there are different endings & alternative story elements to explore such as "the other side of the story".
PRICE:
I've said this many times before about various indie games, but the value here is great. UK 2.09 EURO 2.39 $2.99
you can't complain about prices like this. This is worth every penny. For the level of entertainment that you get, you just can't beat it. This game just like many others are worth so much more. It's games like this & indie developers that give me hope for the future of games & experiences.
10/10. Don't hesitate to buy!
