It's a cute little word finding vocabulary test game, but with 145 words, I don't know how much you really learn here. Granted, how can turn every word card to reveal three verbs/adjectives associated with that word. They get reused on multiple cards, but you still have more than 145 words to learn. Your notebook also has pages about introductions, weekdays and other daily phrases you might found helpful, as well a pages about different katakanas, but I found those more confusing than anything else. If the developer would make regular updates with more words, or even give us a new town area or update the notebook with more phrases, we could have a really engaging and fun way to learn Japanese, but as it stands it's more like the first few small steps to start learning. I'd still recommend it, since it does what it promises, but beware that there isn't that much it can teach you.

Introductory Nihongo lesson meets Pokemon Snap in a kawaii universe with gacha rewards... if this sounds appealing to you, then Shashingo is right up your alley. The game itself is plenty of fun and extremely chill, it's also one of the better-developed Japanese language games I've purchased to date, featuring a clean UI, dialed-in controls (PROTIP: you can run by depressing the L Analog stick) and bright, bubbly visuals. As with most games I enjoy, my one request would be more content, even as DLC or a completely different standalone title. All in all, I'm happy with Shashingo and plan on revisiting it frequently, or at least until that plane departs for Haneda.

I think this game is a good game, but its shortcomings are also very obvious. The map is too single, only a small area can be explored, the pricing is a bit too high, and the gameplay is not particularly smooth. I hope it can be further improved, and I will continue to support it

Very cute game! Some update suggestions: more locations in Japan aka like ride a train and go to a new place. Maybe while riding the train, new photos can be taken inside the train and of the view outside the window? Also, the ability to go inside the stores or go up the stairs of the buildings would be great! Overall: VERY VERY CUTE!

i loved the game! but with only 145 words, it’s really short, so I’d only recommend it if it’s on sale.

i would say look at the review you see for this game and the average amount of time spent played is usually one hour - two. While the game is very well made and very cute in style and does what it promises. The amount of time you will spend in this game will not be long. Your 20 dollars/whatever sale price will be better off spent somewhere else in pursuit of learning Japanese. (take it from someone who has been learning Japanese for about 4 years near JLPT 2 level studying for N1.) Is it fun ? for about like 1 hour honestly, look at the other reviews play time, even the top highlighted review who recommends it has only played an hour which i think says more about the game than anything. Is there promise for more? I doubt. I bought this game when it came out and since then we still have the same one map which is not big at all. Your money is spent better elsewhere.
