I love sim games... I have some 400 sim games on my steam ( just a guess but a large large amount) and i enjoy them as a chill or as a main focus. Tourney can be viewed as a simple Sim, but i feel that does it a disservice. Its simple in design yes, but with that complexity comes from the gameplay itself not in its design. Gameplay is engaging and easy to grasp yet certain things will be missed initially. Some might think this is a downfall but i find it to be an enjoyable part of any game... finding out little connections not fully explained is part of the fun. with the mini games thats where this comes in. most arent explained and the basics are easy to comprehend but the win lose conditions arent spelled out for you so you must try different things until it clicks and you figure out whats going on. those are moments of gold to me as now a days everything is explained and made idiot proof and for me i feel that takes some of the spark out of gaming... again at least for me. im on the third level ( i guess ill call them levels) and now they have made space a commodity within the frame work of what you have to work within. i dig it. With all of this said I have to say i enjoy this game and feel that ill get my dollar per hour out of this guy at full price. with that in mind i def recommend this game for you sim lovers out there! I really hope they continue to add to this game as id love to see other fun things in here! SIDE NOTE: the makers llove of good movies is very apperant ... holy grail, men in tights, and a few other good ol medieval comedy movie lines are perfectly dont and not over done! " Hey Blinkin!" "Did you say Abe Lincoln?" I give this game 4 out of 5 Shrubberies!!

Very good game, BUT no sandbox, a scenario done in 1h You have all the ingredients to make a great tycoon game, but the possibilities are limited Too expensive for a 1h game

Tourney is a fun little Theme Park style game where you create a tournament ground and have to run tournaments for your houses. The houses are based of popular fiction, historical events, comedy and more and have names and bios to suit, such as Edmund and Baldric DarkAsp (Blackadder!) It is currently a bit buggy, but the developer is still working heavily on it. Nothing a save and reload can't fix. I completed the main five missions (set over 4 maps) in about 4 hours, so the game is short, but memorable.

Like most negative reviewers have said. Couple hours of fun but when it's over it's over. Supposedly there is a sandbox mode but every time I play it the game crashes within the first 10 min or so.

i wasnt sure at first , like most reviews its a short game. feels unfinished like very good concept and ideas. sandbox mode only good thing same thing over and over. love the theme and ideas of this. story mode be better have own guy guy duel and rank up, work towards having own events you can hold. unlock diiferent stuff. for missions only 800 gold then done lol , have more goals or levels? different gear and items upgrades- win in levels and from events different months have different events and goals... tons you could fix game just play around kill some time its ok only a hour game and beat it lol very cool idea, cheap game

Really loving this so far. The basic gameplay should be familiar to fans of RollerCoaster Tycoon or other management games, but the addition of representing a house of knights is really cool. You get to give your knights advice during tournaments (the tournaments you yourself organize), telling them which strategy to use based on the skills and mood of both your knight and their opponent. It's a very interesting and fun mechanic and a clever addition to the genre. The only nitpick I have is be sure to save often, as you might get halfway through a day and realize there's no way to complete your mission before the day ends. And the auto-save happens just before you lost. So an additional auto-save at the start of each day would be a great addition. But that's really just a nitpick. All in all it's a very charming game. The item descriptions and knight backstories are witty (but also contain nuggets of tactical information!) and the different types of townsfolk waddling around your castle really gives a festive medieval vibe. The game is packed full of lovely details. The way a knight prances around after winning a tournament!

I really enjoyed this one. I wish it had a sandbox type scenario without the time constraint. Want to play more but don't really want to repeat the main campaign.

Theme park meets jousting! It's a good little sim game. There's more complexity to the it that I thought it would have when I bought it - but it's actually been quite fun for the last couple of days I've been dipping in and out. Well worth a punt. Pros - Good feel to it, familiar tycoon game mechanics, building, hiring staff and all that jazz. - It looks nice, good art style and cute characters. - Music is pretty good. - It's got some nice humour - you can see little thought bubbles from time to time with funny stuff people are thinking & the story is humor driven Cons - At first it was a bit "information overload" like the joust minigame confused my brain until I'd done it a couple of times - You cant move stables or guest tents once they've been placed? - Theres a tutorial for the main controls - but a couple of the buttons arent explained to you - and I only found them after digging around in the options

There just wasn't anything to do after 2-3 hours you've played the entire game. There really isn't any progression that you can expect. Your knights level up, but there's no real point to that other than seeing their starts go up, and after they get five stars in their field after like 2-3 levels, there's no real point to leveling them any further. There's no real point to making more money, or to making the patrons have a good time. Overall the gameplay itself was pretty good, but the progression, and reason to keep playing was extremely lacking. If you want to spend 15 bucks for a pretty good 3 hours of gameplay, and then uninstall because at that point its a waste of space on your library and hard drive, go ahead and get this.

I had fun in the hour I spent with it. Really, it was great for that one hour. The problem is that there isn't anything more than that. It's like a really good demo. So the way it goes, each day you have to set up a new tourney. It's not like a theme park game where you keep all your stuff from one day to the next - each morning you get a preset amount of money and have to place your toilets, your jousting area, etc, etc. And it's cool. You schedule your little tournament and run the contests. But you don't develop any attachment to anything because you're running a bunch of disconnected scenarios and each has a preset goal. Make 800 gold by the end of the day. Win this prize. There's also an annoying mechanic where you have to scan the crowd for 'robbers' and tell your guard to arrest them or you lose money. Maybe it's just me, but I just want to manage in a game like this and watch the jousting or whatever, not do a 'wheres Waldo' hands-on minigame. Anyway, you have your home stable of knights and you give them advice and so on. But at the rate your knights gain experience and levels you come to quickly realize that they're going to be completely maxed out after 4 tourneys or so. Each tourney lasts about an hour. So that's not a lot of playtime before you're no longer really playing for anything. There is a sandbox mode, which looks like it was added from player feedback. The thing is though, where do you go with a sandbox for this game? This isn't something where you can take different approaches to success. The area you're building on isn't very big and it doesn't look like you can expand - in fact it's questionable if you can even fit all the available buildings on your plot of land. You're going to have your knights maxed out in about 5 hours. So what are you going to do with your sandbox? This is a legitimately good game but there's just nowhere near enough of it. It's not worth more than $5 no matter how much it agrees with you.
