This game almost gave me a heart attack on several occasions. In a good way, of course.
Being a fan of ambient horror, and this sort of retro-esque aesthetic made this game hit the good spots for my taste absolutely.
For the fans of podcasts like The Magnus Archives, this game gives very similar vibes in terms of low-key horror elements.
I've only played two endings out of 6, and I intend to finish the other 4 if I can figure out how to get them for sure.
10/10 atmosphere that keeps you on your toes. Also the part where i accidentally left the game running for a moment and the guy started eating glass for a little bit. I decided not to question it.
If i simply ignore the existence of the horrors, I will not comprehend them so surely they will not haunt me.
.....do you feel safe?

Loved it! Evocative and disturbing. A neat horror experience that doesn't overstay its welcome, and is unsettling throughout.

Dead Letter Dept. establishes the setting and ambiance quite well.
So far I've experienced one ending.
I'm fond of the immense pressure and sense of urgency which permeate the world.
It's dark, stressful and oppressive, achieving so much with only subtle use of "conventional" horror elements.
Overall the game feels very balanced and polished, it being clear that a huge amount of thought and passion went into it.

I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting into, but having always had a penchant for typing games mixed with the horror genre, I had to give it a try. This was a great experience, though you have to have a bit of fun with typing to really even start to enjoy the game itself. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere and tension-building without relying on stale tropes and jumpscares to get the job done.

Played the demo way back when and could not wait for the full release. Never would have guessed that a game about data entry would wind up being one of the scariest and most unnerving games I've ever played but here it is. Definitely a by yourself, lights out, headphones experience, and if you have the time to do it in one go (about 3 hours) it's definitely the best way to play it. Also, the less you know about this game the better, go in as blind as you can, so rather than spoil anything, I'll just say that I cannot praise this game enough. Easily one of my favorites of all time.

I really liked this game, but I could maybe see it not being for everyone. However, it works very well for its intended audience.
It's a job sim with a horror atmosphere that's very focused on typing, and I like to type. Play the demo and if that intrigues you in the slightest then I would say this game is for you.
I'm really happy to see an indie horror game with a unique premise for gameplay and interaction. Consider supporting the developer and playing the game if you want an interesting horror experience that unlike most others.
To Mike Monroe,
I originally played the demo way back in 2022 in the haunted PS1 demo disk and was very excited about its premise. I'm really happy to see a project like this actually come to fruition and not get stuck in indie horror development limbo. Here's hopping you see some success from this game and I can't wait to see what else you create.
Let it rot,
CdCE

For those who like it quick and simple: this game is worth buying to both support the dev, and experience the full game AT LEAST ONCE.
As for the nitty-gritty, I'm not great at writing reviews without getting lost in the weeds: so I'll list them out via PROS and CONS.
PROS:
- The story is good. It starts simple, then ramps up immediately into a cavalcade of horror.
- It measures your WPM & accuracy. I found that detail cute.
- The visuals down to the ending screen(s) are faithful to the premise. Nothing feels jarring or out-of-place like a game that relies heavily on pre-made assets.
- The way it strings the mysteries along & ties my saves together wants me to get each and every achievement.
- Absolutely delivers in terms of sound design. Each sound effect is used preciously to create atmosphere.
CONS:
- The use of visual contrast (stark dark & light) means there will be points where I can't see ANYTHING.
- This would be fine if it didn't get in the way of navigating specific segments. I'm not sure about others, but I found myself stumbling in the dark for an unnecessary amount of time in both playthroughs so far in an attempt to get the story line to progress.
- There are also progression screens that are just black with a small spray of pixels. Don't worry. The sound is supposed to persist like that. The screen is supposed to be dark. Just sit there for 10-20 seconds and the game will turn you loose.
- The warping and jittering of the screen eventually stops being endearing in some segments and becomes frustrating. This does add a level of difficulty that the developer may have intended to freshen up the gameplay loop. I cannot help but wonder, for my gamers with vision problems, whether this makes the game difficult or impossible to finish.
I will repeat: I recommend buying this game to support the developer & see the story to at least one of its conclusions. However, be wary if you're playing on a smaller display or have vision impairments. You may find some difficulty in finishing the game.
