Spare Parts: Episode 2 Reviews
Unit 03 is a sheltered, but bubbly, robot girl with a penchant for breaking the rules. After getting a tiny taste of the outside, she's become all the more desperate to break free of the cage she was born in. But so long as her body continues to malfunction, will that ever be more than a fantasy?

Holy shit, Episode 2 of Spare Parts is absolutely one of the best visual novels I've read. Not only is there a lot more content compared to Episode 1, but it's also even better in every regard. I laughed several times at the sillier moments (particularly the post-ending S.P. Radio segment), I was completely engaged in the more dramatic moments, and I felt such sorrow when these characters were at their lowest points. I really liked the clear parallels between some of the characters, what with them struggling with issues that seem different at the surface level, but are actually pretty similar. Switching to different characters' perspectives instead of just having Lucy's also enhances the story a lot; it would definitely be worse without it. The only issue I had was that a couple of the more serious moments had some unfitting music, but that was a rare occurrence. I can't recommend this one enough!!!
also i still like the =3 face

it good
In all seriousness, characters are very fun and the plot setup is real compelling. Finished both this and the first episode in a single night and my only regret is not pacing myself so i could enjoy it for the first time over a span longer than a few hours. I'd highly recommend checking it out! If you're on the fence, Episode 1 is free on itch.io so you can dip your toes in without paying. That's certainly part of how I got hooked.

One of the more enjoyable and, frankly, relatable VNs I've played of late. The characters are all deeply compelling and the plot has me waiting excitedly for the next episode! Awesome game!
Also, 01 is still the best.

I have played through both episodes that are available and I must say that I love this episode the most. I felt like the first episode was more of an introduction to the cast and now this installment we get to see more of what they are about. I can't wait to see what episode 3 holds. I really like how the data shards were done in this episode as well. I hope they continue to be like this format in the future.

Episode 2 of Spare Parts has you view events from the perspective of people other than Lucy. I loved getting insight into the inner thoughts of other characters. This does mean there's not as much focus on Lucy, but due to being way longer than episode 1 everyone gets enough time.
The writing is amazing, the art is amazing, and (most) of the characters are just the best. I love Spare Parts and cannot wait for episode 3 to come out.
Later edit:
Replaying this a year later made me appreciate the writing even more. The characters mean a lot to me and I just want them to be happy.

its really good... i liked it even more than the first! i really really enjoy the cast of characters and the music and art are very appealing and set the atmosphere well. plus, i wasnt expecting this but as a transfem person (and some unrelatedly to that) some of the arcs were very personal and relatable.. generally just a very enjoyable novel and i cant wait to see whats next!!

A strong continuation from the previous episode, impressive in all regards.
The art, music and writing are all just as delightful as before. A substantially longer experience, but the pacing and overall direction of the story are very on point despite the increased length. The very tangible character development gives the experience a good sense of substance to it regardless of the actual story progression.
There's a noticeable amount of typographical errors throughout. Although approximately one per hour of reading isn't much to mention, they are still noticeable all the same. The introduction of one new character in particular does seem rather abrupt; as it felt like they were not foreshadowed very much in the previous episode, but maybe I'm forgetting such.
As mentioned quite impressive, especially considering the length, for the writing in particular to still be so strong and consistent. Very compelling to read, although it's questionable how much substance is left in this story to merit another episode of comparable length.
If you're interested in finding more games like this I've probably reviewed quite a few on my curator page here .

i am.. spapafied. this was even lovelier and deeper than the first! it tugged at my gay little trans heart a lot and idk!! There's a lot to say about it and I'm not sure where to start other than I really recommend it. It is very clearly so delicately and lovingly written and covers a lot of topics in caring ways, the characters feel so real. idk. I really like it.
