At the time of writing this I have 100%'d the first chapter of the game, and that alone has already been worth the price of admission. This game is a fantastic 2d platformer, and I can't wait to see what else is in here

This game is very special. It captures the old school feeling while providing a fresh feeling at the same time. All of the powers are very unique and make you think about how you need to use them, and in the process, making you feel smart by mastering them. All while being very intuitive at the same time.
The difficulty is perfect. Yes, you will struggle on some parts, but it feels absolutely satisfying to conquer them and no single part ever felt unfair at any time. The boss sections feel great and intense, and when you beat them, it feels like you barely made it, in the best way.
The story is great as well. It's fairly simple but still makes you feel curious and you always want to know more. I was very satisfied by the ending (at least the one that I got).
The Path of Ren is a great game. If you like platformers like Super Meat Boy, you'll feel right at home here. And even if you are new to them, you will still enjoy it! Highly recommended!

The Path of Ren is a great game! It is both incredibly challenging yet somehow relaxing and will put your platformer skills to the test. Music is also absolutely amazing. Buy this game, you will not regret it!

I will preface this story I have by stating I have about 40 min of in game play.
This game brings back an extremely memorable and nostalgic memory for me. I remember having a game boy advance and having super mario bros as a game to play. I remember having difficulty with that game because I was young. My mother offered to help me with the game and she sat in a chair and I watched her play as she beat levels that I could not. That being said, this game brought back that exact nostalgia and memory of my mother, except now I am the one who can beat the levels. If this game can bring back these nostalgic and fond memories of my mom then I will 100000000% (as Senku from Dr. Stone would say) state that this game is 100% worth the money and worth the play.

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this game.
• The music (Active / background / battle / etc.)
• The art - Reminded me of my favorite Platformer Mega Man X
• The story - It was simple and lighthearted at times, and thought provoking at others. It tugged at my heartstrings towards the end of the game.
• The "completionist" aspect - I don't want to give anything away, but I "Beat the game", and even so, there are still things I can come back to the game to complete. I'd like to see if there's an alternate ending (maybe with candy inside?)
• Game Mechanics - I feel like the game progressed in a way that felt natural, introducing new abilities and more difficult challenges as I progressed.
• Controls - The controls felt smooth and it was easy to immerse myself in game play!

Completed my first playthrough at just under 80% completion and at 9.3 hours played - what an awesome experience. The mechanics are well structured and the challenges are difficult but rewarding, leaving you with a sense that no goal is ever quite out of reach. The world building is incredibly effective with a soundtrack that never gets old and sound effects that feel perfectly in place. The movement feels extremely responsive and there are plenty of secrets for completionists in addition to lots of lore for people that like to take their time and sight-see. This game is not only fun and addictive, but it begs for multiple playthroughs to catch all of the little things you may have missed the first time around. I highly recommend The Path of Ren for anyone that enjoys platformers like Celeste, Crash Bandicoot, or Super Meat Boy, and even grindy challenging games like Hollow Knight or Dark Souls. Extremely impressive debut release that's worth way more than $15 - I'm definitely looking forward to whatever comes next from this creator!
