Simple and fun puzzle game. I really liked the soundtrack. Levels are very designed and all puzzles fit in each level difficult.

Very fun, I like the style and everything. One thing that was difficult at first was using the dynamite because I wasn't sure of the trajectory, but after a few times It was easy enough to aim decent with it. Overall though, definitely worth it for the price.

I give this a thumbs up, because it doesn't deserve a thumbs down - especially for just over £1.
However, I want to clarify for those who might be swayed by the "puzzle" tag that there is absolutely zero challenge to the puzzles in this game. 30 levels took less than 30 minutes to complete, most of the solutions are obvious within seconds. This is absolutely a casual game.
It was a fun thirty minutes and it's cheap, but anyone expecting to have to think very hard are going to be disappointed.

Highly recommend!! The game isn't very long (takes around an hour, more or less, to finish it), but it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience. For the price, its definitely worth it.
THE GOOD:
The gameplay is great! Really well-sequenced level progression. They introduce new elements (crates, shotguns, dynamite, etc) frequently enough to keep things interesting, but also its never overwhelming. Each level presents a puzzle, and you always have the tools to solve that puzzle without ever feeling like you're being spoonfed the solutions. "Virtuous Western" has one of the best challenge-to-reward leveling curves I've seen in an indie game. Overall, incredibly satisfying game loop.
The graphics are simple, but the pixel art assets have a pretty charming and consistent style throughout. The gameplay is definitely the main focus, but I still think the art is cute enough to be a selling point.
THE BAD:
The soundtrack is cute at first, but perhaps a little grating towards the later stages because it lacks the same variety and development as the gameplay. Its a minor nitpick, but I'd maybe recommend playing with the default music off.
THE UGLY:
Some of the keybinds are unintuitive, and I wish there was an option in the settings menu to rebind them. I played on controller, and kept wanting to press right trigger button to shoot my gun (the default binding is "x"). I got used to it eventually, but would've preferred to rebind.
But also... Aside from self-competition with the speedrun mode, "Virtuous Western" has very little replay value. The story is straightforward-- there's no hidden routes or extra content. Once you've solved the puzzle of each stage, that's it. It's an enjoyable game, but it's short-lived.
OVERALL, "Virtuous Western" is a fun game and well-worth the price.

it's cute pixel art, music is great, it's more of a puzzle than a platform where different strategies can create different results. and once resolved you can challenge yourself with a speed run, simple and objective.

An enjoyable simple platformer game which incorporates a number of different mechanics to overcome each set of levels (puzzles). I found that the throwing the stick of dynamite took a little practice but after a few times you can pretty much figure out the physics and I could hit just about every time. As expected the boss level took most time but that puzzle taught me the essence of patience...the pattern was recognizable but still random in its execution so accomplishing a solve still took patience. I enjoyed the game and thanks to the developers and their team for releasing it to us! Hope to see more puzzles on this game with more mechanics in the future!
