Currently functionality is BROKEN with this program AND THE REGULAR STEAM CLIENT.
The issue comes when Standby or Bored is used (two best settings/features in the software IMO)
i would surmise this is happening because both use assets from the UnityEngine?
You can just turn those settings OFF and it will work fine, probably also works fine with BigPicture, yet I have yet to try that. Until this is fixed I have to rate this as a pass. As soon as this issue is fixed I will return here and change my rating appropriately!

When I open up the program I see most of the settings but nothing about choosing any of the downloaded steamworks cursors. When I click on the top left and anywhere close the edge of the program it just closes down.
Steps to repro:
1. Open the program
2. Make sure You have any workshop cursor isntalled
3. Click on the top left corner
4. Observe the crash
5. There is no settings cog icon showing up
Expected result:
The user can access the "choose cursor" section inside the program
Actual result:
It closes down without any warning or prompt.

I wouldn't generally promote this because it is pretty buggy and the big issue is that its unreliable. Really cool if it was more refined tho

The input lag is more than noticeable (on a 13700k w/ 4090) and as a result precision is not good with normal use - even general use on the desktop. The menu and controls aren't great either (seriously, double-click the icon in the system tray to see different cursor skins???) though the guide on this page is decent. It also appears that all cursor skins are vertical - which at least to me is a little off-putting. In any event, it's the input lag and lack of precision that really makes this a hard pass currently. IF the developer can solve that problem then I'd change it to maybe recommended (depending on if you like the available cursor skins).
Responding to Developer response:
1. From the time the user moves the mouse, to the cursor actually moving - there is a lag. It doesn't matter what the quality setting is. It is noticeable as a user, but I'm not sure how it would be noticeable with a recording (and not recording my mouse/hand movements at the same time). Nevertheless..
I tried recording but the cursor blinks in and out (is visible then not) whereas it does not do this without Alive Cursor.
2. Wallpaper Engine isn't a good app to judge by (with regard to the system tray). A single click should be enough to pull-up a page with tabs providing all the user needs to make modifications. IF you decide to add a scroll context menu similar to Wallpaper Engine - then it should be RIGHT Click, not double click LEFT (or single click LEFT like Wallpaper Engine). Look to Windows system Sound operation in the system tray for standard practices.
3. Cool! In this instance (and probably a lot more instances) a really good on-app Help and Menu context should make something like this easier for the user to determine.
Note: I also ran into one other problem.
When moving to the Taskbar and the Start Icon and then clicking on it with the Power/App-listing/Tiles pop-up window, the cursor would be UNDER the window. The same thing also occurs when a scroll context menu (as with right clicking on any icon). I can only see the cursor's position because of Transparency effects (showing a shadow of the cursor below the window). Of course it might be the Transparency effects interacting with Alive Cursor, don't know.

Love this software, would it be possible to have more examples to download like a dragon, or snake or lots of dragons, even more dragons or just a dragon?. I want a dragon. In fact lets start a "I want a dragon club". but whatever this software has potential to be really big perhaps the talented designer would make lots of pay for add-on packs with dragons?.

2023 UPDATE: The application has improved, and there are some nice icons. But even after just two minutes of use, the cursor disappeared and I could use my mouse anymore. The application still shows itself running as if your playing a game called Alive Cursor. I think you'd be fine to try it out yourself, but I did notice that now the application has telemetry and connects to the internet (which it didn't do before)...so that's not cool.
I still can't recommend the product, but I applaud the developer for reaching out to me and letting me know it's been vastly updated so I could give it another shot. I really like that Logitech mouse cursor and the 3D effect moving it around.
MY 2021 ORIGINAL REVIEW IS ARCHIVED BELOW:
This isn't a full thumbs down...more of a "MEH"
Pros:
No weird and unnecessary network connections. Big plus for that and no garbage telemetry.
The content that is there (that works) seems to look pretty good.
Cons:
Not a lot of content, and some of that content didn't work for me.
Doesn't have an option to disable the "In Game" announcement for Steam - which is critical for frequently run or auto-started applications
OTHER NOTES:
I did have to disable Antialiasing FXAA to get anything to work, but once I got it it was pretty intuitive (at least where some of the content was working). There does seem to be a Workshop interface, but inside the app nothing changed after having added and downloading the (currently very limited) Workshop content, so maybe something is broken there too. I was actually more impressed with the options menu than the mouse interactions.
For a large discount, maybe you're interested in trying it out.
I'm not going to refund it, just in case the developer fixes/improves it later, and more content gets added.

Oh, very
COOL
Not your typical animated cursor, it's a full 3D model that can be scaled and rotated.
One of the best purchases I've made this year for customizing my Windows Desktop.
The Luminaris Starship (from Iggy-Design) looks very good in this program. The little details, like the holographic animation when hovering over links, resizing a window or busy working in the background is nice.
I love how you're able to set the cursor ship to get 'bored' and fly by itself into the distance around the screen :)
Can't wait to see what people come up with when the Workshop gets added.
