Interesting strategy game, with cool mechanics that make you think how to approach each level, as you may want to do use some abilities in a certain way or in a certain order. The graphics are really good with great character design as well.

It's a fun and also challenging turn based tactics game that feels like a puzzle at times. More content is needed though. However, the developer allready stated, that more content is on its way. I enjoyed the time I spent with the game.

Great art, cool animations and jazz, this game has it all. Gameplay is pretty straight forward with turn based combat in an 8x8 grid, allowing you to manage 4 units who each can move a set amount of spaces, attack enemies and use an ability. It makes it easy to view and plan your moves which have special effects so you can como attacks with different characters. It's a rogue-like game where you will get access to other characters that have modified abilities which open up new ways to play with your party. Perma death adds a nice bit of tension as mistakes can come at a high cost if you are not careful. In the end it is an easy to play, hard to master kind of game were you deal with enemies to the tune of a smooth jazz orchestra. Looking forward to the HQ and character upgrades plus testing new items to expand character abilities!

This is an incredibly interesting game. The game presents a variety of levels and challenges, each requiring a thoughtful approach to overcome. I enjoy experimenting with different character combinations and tactics. One standout aspect of the game is its superb music. The jazzy tunes create an immersive atmosphere that enhances the gameplay experience. I find myself grooving to the beat while I'm playing. I'm excited to see how the game evolves with future updates and additional content. Supporting indie gems like this is a no-brainer for me. It's evident that the developer poured heart and soul into this project, and they deserve all the encouragement and praise.

This is a great game. The art style is awesome, the music is nice and relaxing, and the gameplay is fun. You have to think carefully about every move to ensure your crew doesn't get killed. Each character has a unique play style and abilities, so you need to mix and match them to achieve the best outcome. If you enjoy tactics and roguelike games, this is a game you should definitely try.

Do you like jazz? When I first saw the trailer for TBPC I tough that Napoleon looked like a furry version of Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. Then as one enemy was hit on screen a jazz tune started playing and I was hooked. Playing thru the missions is really fun as each character has it's unique set of abilities that put you to the test to plan an strategy on how to clean each room and collect all the bounties. There is a lot of charm in each character animation and the music that accompanies each mission is really well made and suits the game.

TLDR; Black Pepper crew's gameplay is top notch, however the game basically comes out of the box beaten. There is nothing to work towards or unlock, and no way to become stronger. This gives the player 0 sense of progress and it means that youve seen 90% of the content in the first hour of play. The combat and strategy side of the game are awesome, but the game lacks content to work towards. It is a rogue-like where you hire a crew of characters with different abilities to complete missions for various amounts of cash. The problem is, all you can spend the money on is consumable items to use in missions. There is no meta progression and characters do not grow stronger over time. If you played for 20 hours, the only thing you would have over a fresh save file is consumable items like armor that breaks when it runs out, or one use attack items. The home base contains random characters you can choose to hire for free, and a shop where you buy consumables with money. It feels like a big missed opportunity not having any sort of home base upgrades, like unlocking new classes, items, generating passive money after each mission, increasing crew size, etc.. So once youve played the game for like 30 minutes, youve reached the maximum power level. On top of this, there are lots of bugs (like me dismissing a crew member and it permanently deleting the item i had equipped on them) and oversights like not having a menu to equip and un-equip items from a member unless in a mission. This game would be an easy recommend from me with any sort of progression system added. Some ideas/what i hope to see in the future are: 1. Make the player begin the game with only three crew member slots, and have the maximum number of crew members be 5. The player would unlock crew member slots by defeating a specific boss/mission. These missions would be a sort of capstone challenge that would show the player they have achieved something they could not achieve at the start of the game, and then reward them with the ability to have an additional crew member on the team and they then would be able to take on harder missions. 2. There is currently no permanent character progression. This means there is no difference between a character you just hired and one that has completed 20 missions. This just feels really bad. Adding in some sort of experience system where a character gains power by staying alive and completing missions is a necessity. maybe a character gets a random extra point of health or movement speed or rarely damage after completing a certain number of missions. This would make the player actually care about each character and reward them for keeping them alive throughout many missions. 3. The HQ desperately needs more depth. using money to upgrade it to bring in more potential crew members, increase item variety in the shop, or unlock classes would give the player a greater sense of reward for completing missions and earning cash. 4. Finally, i really hope to see non-consumable gear and loot. Getting a legendary item is really cool until I realize its an armor piece so its only going to last until my crew member gets hit once. Adding in gear that can be used indefinitely on a character(ideally in a different slot than the consumables) would make finding loot so much more exciting and rewarding. This game has a ton of potential, but the early access description saying the dev just wants to add more classes, items, and enemies does not give me much hope. This stuff would be cool but doesn't address the actual issues the game faces. Really unfortunate because this game is so close to being a masterpiece.

I absolutely love strategy games, and I can confidently say that this title is definitely worth playing. The music is a complete delight, and the artwork, as well as the animations, are incredibly detailed and visually appealing. The gameplay feels comfortable and very intuitive, but what really blows my mind is that every time you embark on a mission, it's never the same – they are truly unique! Not only are the missions unique, but the characters you can add to your party also possess different skills. This, combined with the variety of items available, adds a whole new level of diversity that makes each gaming session an enjoyable experience to the fullest. So, don't think twice... this game is absolutely amazing!!!!
