Still learning all the rules, etc, The game is fast paced, but fun. Time well spent for me. Give it a go.

Tons of missions, be it from the governors or the many people found in the tavern. Beautiful graphics and the look is awesome. The more you play the more youll enjoy it, partially from the game itself and partially from the advancements you can make in your game. I love this game, others may not, but i can say im happy with my purchase. And one last thing there's plenty of pirate ships to attack for coinage, so you can keep a good standing with all the nations.

I like the turn based battle system. The boarding actions come down to dice rolls, but there are many things you can do to stack the odds in your favor. The game also lets you save at any time, so you can always save before each battle and just reload if you get a bunch of bad dice rolls in a row. The main story missions are optional. You can still enjoy the game regardless of what missions you choose to complete or ignore. You can choose to work for the major nations and earn noble titles or be a thorn in their sides by raiding their port towns and sinking their fleets.

I'm gonna have to say no. I love pirate games, if they are done right. I want to like this, I really do. There are some fun things it gets right, but its just not enough. The tactics can be fun sometimes. Once you get a fleet of ships and leveled captains it diversifies enough you can see how several viable tactics start becoming possible. But unfortunately, its a bit hit or miss. For example, sometimes you'll outnumber a boarded ship 3 or 4 to 1 and the auto calculation somehow allows them to throw your 100 plus guys off their boat... and your boat is then inoperable thereafter.... but theirs isn't and they sail off to resume fighting you. Maybe something underhanded allowed them to get away, but seriously.... Regardless of any advantage to Morale they may have, this feels unrealistic and odd. Literally all the game is ... is tactical sea combats which are a mixed bag of decent and annoying. There is some pseudo role play, but its just combat to get better ships and loot. The closest thing I did to RP in any way was chase down, not one, not two, but four exes of one of my captains to beat them in ship v ship and then execute them. Maybe some of the stories are better... one wanted to rescue someone from prison, but its all the same loop of .... find a guy... allow them to get onto their boats..... beat them in a semi fair naval fight... even if you found them alone in the tavern... rinse repeat. And the city raids are...you approach a city bereft of naval defenses.... and then miraculously 6 enemy ships appear out of no where to fight you.... you beat them and then have a little skill challenge where you're raiding the town with dice rolls. It all just feels like it could have been more. Its not the worst game... and maybe it is bearable for 25 USD.... but... there just isn't a lot here. Maybe get it on sale... or look elsewhere.
