Challenging precision platformer that cops out for achievements
On paper, Overcoming Obstacles has everything I'd normally look for in a precision platformer: - Nice difficulty - All the usual features that make it hard, including spikes, moving platforms, platforms that disappear after touch, and turrets - Three-starring levels by picking up the stars that are sometimes in particularly difficult positions There's 60 levels, enough for an hour or two of playtime. Controls could be slicker and more responsive for jumps (considering that there's no traditional double-jump capability despite the wall-jumps) but are otherwise alright. Just consider it's WASD/Arrows (or space for jump) and non-rebindable.
HOWEVER
You get achievements for reaching a certain level. First, they end after level 50, so you never have to play beyond that (lest you want the challenge for challenge's sake). Second, three-starring / doing perfect level runs does not matter. Third but foremost, you can skip any level by pressing numpad-0. In my opinion this is a total cop-out, and there's no bragging rights left.
Didn't really complete it
I played for 70 minutes, skipping some levels and ending up at level 52 before I just quit because, as someone who identifies as achievement hunter, I felt little point in continuing, particularly when most would have skipped all levels within a minute. If you want challenge for challenge's sake, I feel like OO is a pretty good entry. Sure, some levels need a little bit too precise jumps or are re-iterations of previous levels, but it's mostly fair as precision platformers go and there's no luck component. However, no one will care, because most people never really played the game anyway because skipping is much more efficient.
