A very interesting puzzle game. It's interesting the way it gives you no rules and just gives you one example level, and you have to figure out the rules of the puzzle.

A tricky and fun deductive puzzle game. Half of the challenge is figuring out what's being asked of you; the other half is to actually execute it. However, even once you've figured out the rules, the puzzles are still quite tough to crack.

A neat little game vaguely in the same vein as The Witness. There's a shape and some symbols, and puzzle one shows you a line that you can draw in the shape that satisfies the symbols. In the next puzzles, use that initial information and try to figure out what the symbols mean (what must be satisfied?). As you build your theory as to what the symbols need, later puzzles often include edge cases that can require you to rethink what they actually mean. Later puzzles can incorporate previous mechanics, which is fun.

Honestly, I don't think this game is similar to Understand. It's much closer to The Witness in terms of level design, as all symbols have consistent rules across variants & the focus is less on rule deduction (though the rule-guessing gameplay is still pretty good) and more on using those rules in unique ways to create difficult puzzles. The rules themselves are well-designed, as they're (for the most part) fairly straightforward yet have a lot of depth, particularly when combined with the main mechanic of creating similar regions. Despite this depth, no puzzle feels absurdly difficult (though some will require considerable patience), and most solutions to difficult puzzles feel elegant. Variants unlocked later on frequently focus on building on earlier symbols & ideas, which gives you a real sense of understanding as you progress.

If you're the type of person who needs tutorials and objective markers, you're fucked. Awesome puzzle game, obviously extremely reminiscent of "Understand" and "The Witness", kind of somewhere between the two. Good luck beating it without help though.

The puzzle design in this game is really excellent. Most of the puzzles have relatively few solutions (not always unique) and they can often be logically deduced.
On the flip side, I wish there was an explanations system for the game - maybe as you complete a set of levels there could be a dictionary of rules revealed. Since some of the rules are a bit obscure, and the game introduces many symbols, it can be hard to keep track of them between sessions even if you figure out what they mean.

Great game, would like for it to have a Post game rule sheet or something to review each level rules

If mathematics is about putting words to ideas, Insight is about just wallowing around in a place of pure ideas. Insight is an absolutely wonderful puzzle game filled with those "a-ha" moments that are the hallmark of great puzzle games. I recommend this strongly to anyone who likes hard puzzle games.

This is a puzzle game that does not guide you. It guides you less than The Witness, Taiji or Understand.
This game demands curiosity. Trial and error is required. You will have to go back to earlier puzzles when you realize your understanding of the rules was flawed. You have to admit you don't understand. THe title really means you have to seek out insight, it is not handed to you.
It's quite good at what it offers.

I've really enjoyed this so far!
In the moment to moment gameplay you solve puzzles by separating shape(s) up into sub-regions. What exactly the goal is of each series of puzzles is left for you to discover. Everything is quite pleasant, and so far nothing has worn thin. I've found at least one non-unique puzzle solution so bear that in mind if uniqueness is important to you.
There have been some really nice puzzle moments that have made me smile.
The graphics are definitely not the focus - acceptable but not super inspiring (the screenshots give a very good idea of what to expect).
Overall I really recommend this to fans of similar games! (or puzzle lovers in general, as I think this might be a good introduction)
