Controls are a mess. I play with a controller and it was no good. Farming is awful. Using the hoe is frustrating, it requires precision but the controls just don't allow for it. Slow and unresponsive. When trying to create my character I couldn't type my name with the controller. I had to try to use the mouse and keyboard and it was a battle so much so I almost returned it right then and there. It's truly not ready as even early access. I think I will keep it and see how things progress.

I have been waiting for this game to come out and its empty even for a early release. there is zero interaction with other NPCs and they just drop you in with no back story or anything. just dull unfortunately

Would not recommend, even for early access it's pretty bad. I thought other comments were exaggerating since it had 'mixed' review, but I was wrong. Played 45 mins and already had two 2 bugs pop up. Using a controller does not work 100% so had to toggle back and forth from controller to mouse. Just not worth the hassle, hopefully they will continue creating/updating this game and it gets better but I would not buy the early access right now.

The concept of the game is super cute. I enjoyed the time that I played for the most part. There are several issues: 1 - it is SUPER buggy 2 - so much of the info is unclear as to what you need to do to progress 3 - because the original programmers who held the kickstarter funds bailed and a smaller group took over, they dont have the full funds to make the game the way it was intended and it shows in the missing items that seemed to be available to people who started the game sooner. I wont get into things that are spoilers, but I will say that there are things that need to be tweaked with the pet and animal systems. So all in all, while I gave it a thumbs up, it really is a thumbs up thumbs down review. The game has a TON of potential, but right now, it is limited.

I´ve played nearly 2 hours and I must say, the game is a bit empty, even for early access. There are no relevant interactions with other npc´s so far, maybe it´ll be added in the future. Even though there are many animals jumping across the map, it feels lifeless, like something is missing. I also really hope that there will be some kind of story added to the game. I really like the character custumization, especially the color choices. For now, I want to wait a bit for further updates. Also, wasn´t there a trailer where you were laying unconscious under some cherry tree´s? What happened to this scene and the location? I couldn´t find this place in the game.

controls on mouse and keyboard feel awful so far, interacts are all keyed to the f key and is no options to change it to mouse clicks. please all keybinds for mouse and control are displayed all the time. need a way to disable this

So many bugs had to close game without saving, I tried to move my furniture around. Weird clunky controls, but as soon as I rotated my bed it turned red no matter where I put it. I tried every single button, the bed got stuck in the wall and wouldn't come back out and I couldnt exit the furniture menu essentially leaving me no choice but to close the game. Feels unfinished. Invisible walls, the beach is barely coloured and looks white, hardly any NPCs, no quests once you begin (an optional task board doesn't count) just feels honestly like a sh*t cash grab rushing into the cozy genre and producing an unfinished sandbox that LOOKS cute to suck steam users in. Tired of this. 1 out of 10 stars.

TL;DR: This game is fun in a super chill way, although a bit empty and unpolished at this point. I'm finding it charming and addictive despite the early access state, but ymmv. I'd recommend this for someone who would enjoy a really chill, relaxing game and who doesn't mind a game that isn't fully fleshed out yet. At this point all the key functions are in place (except dating) but the world feels a bit empty. Pros I wasn't sure about this game at first, but by 90 minutes in I was really enjoying it. The world feels pleasant and the graphics have a quirky charm. I'm not usually a fan of cartoon-y graphics, but this seems fine. The character models are cute, and although the customization options are pretty limited at this point, there is a color wheel (as well as presets) for your hair, clothes, etc, which is great. Also, in game you can go back and freely change anything by clicking your mirror. One big advantage over other farming games is that the quest line moves you really quickly through upgrades to your farm. For example, you get a coop, barn, and vehicle surprisingly early. You don't get stuck waiting and saving up to be able to afford them. Another strong point of this game is that you have plenty of inventory space right from the start. As part of the quest line you get a large warehouse long before you need it, and you never have to clutter up your farm with a bunch of chests. A refreshing change from other farming games. The map is big and feels spacious. The world is beautiful and the lighting is done well, it looks really natural. Resources (rocks, trees, and mushrooms) respawn every day, including on your farm (technically they respawn every 2-3 days but lots of new ones show up every day). There is a local bus to help you get around, but typically you have to wait a few minutes for it to arrive at the bus stop, and by that time I usually just start walking. But this isn't really a big deal since pretty soon you get a vehicle which makes it easy to zip around. Also the devs recently increased your run speed, it feels good now. The game isn't hard at all, even the fishing minigame is pretty easy. (That's a plus for me since I play to relax.) The quests are mostly fetch quests, with some hidden object quests that can be pretty annoying. That's the only real challenge I've run into, near the end of spring year 1 (24 days in). The devs are quickly responding to issues that are reported, and in fact they resolved many of the issues I originally mentioned in this review within days. I will continue to update this as the game changes. Cons This game definitely isn't for you if you like fast-paced gameplay that gets your heart racing, lol. Ditto if you like hard challenges or if you are expecting a polished complete game. At this point in early access the game isn't fully fleshed out yet. What's there is fun though. For example, you can get started decorating your home almost right away,. Stamina is really lacking in the early game, but you can forage for mushrooms without using energy. And by the time you are about 15 days in, if you've done all the quests stamina is no longer issue at all. The controls (on PC) were confusing at first, but once I figured them out it was fine. You use F, Esc, and mouse click for almost everything. There are plenty of the usual EA bugs with the interaction buttons and controls. For example, there is currently a bug in build mode where if you cancel moving an item, it will disappear. So I always save before building so I can exit the game if I misclick and accidentally lose something. However, the devs seem to be on top of the bugs, and issues are being ironed out pretty quickly. The game is already fun but if you don't want to deal with this sort of thing I would wait a month or two to get it.

My wife has played this game for about 15 hours and I have watched her struggle for even mundane tasks that is supposed to be fun and engaging, NOT rage inducing. The UX is atrocious. - Trying to create a new patch of farming ground feels like trying to remove a tumor in an awake patients body. - You need scalpel precision to create a farm patch. Especially if you have other plants around. - Watering the plants is a chore that is less watering and more waiting for animation to finish. - Silver and Diamond mining nodes look extraordinarily similar. - The mouse movement speed is suddenly less than halved as soon as you enter the house. - No Camera offset so you can't really look at what your character is looking at. Especially if it's on the ground. And these are just some issues I found from watching my wife play the game But the topping on the cake is taken by the sudden disappearance of all the furniture and animals this morning after 14 hours of play. Being a Unity Developer and Game designer myself, The devs haven't put any thought on Game Design or UX at all. Quality of Life is non-existent. This is not Early Access material. This is Closed beta state of the game.

Even with understanding that this is an Early Access release, this game is bad. The character models are wildly out of scale with other game assets. Trying to till your soil with your hoe will only happen if the stars magically align. Movement is slow and clunky. Environments are large and empty. Controller support is barely functional and unintuitive. There is no way to regenerate energy when you first begin, so you'll literally spend entire days trying to chop enough trees or smash enough rocks to satisfy the terminally boring quests you are given right off the bat. Its bad. I refunded this. I think we've reached peak "early access Harvest Moon like" with this stuff. If you are charging money for your early access product than you still need to... have a product. This is barely that.
