So, I'll start by saying "it was okay....in the beginning". As it drudged on, however, it became increasingly more irritating. At one point you start platforming in drunk goggles damn near. I couldn't finish it. Maybe the devs could take out the drunk goggles and add a few jump scares instead to pass time. try to pick it up for 99% off if you can.
BLACKOUT - A Mixed Bag of Horror
“A game with strong atmosphere but lacks depth.”
BLACKOUT, developed by INNERVISION, immerses players in a chilling environment filled with suspense and mystery. As an office worker isolated in a house filled with unsettling occurrences, you must navigate through dark corridors and eerie rooms.
Atmosphere and Sound Design
The game's use of lighting and ambient sound effects is commendable, effectively enhancing the mood and immersing players in the terrifying atmosphere. The soundtrack, while decent, complements the overall experience. The jump scares can be effective, providing some genuine fright as you explore.
Visual Style and Presentation
However, the pixelated art style feels disjointed. The combination of high-resolution textures with a pixel filter detracts from the overall visual appeal. It would benefit from a more cohesive design that aligns with the horror genre, avoiding the pitfalls of a mismatched aesthetic.
Story and Engagement
The narrative falls short, lacking world-building elements like notes or dialogues that could provide insight into the protagonist's psyche and the events occurring around them. The abrupt ending leaves many questions unanswered, diminishing the sense of satisfaction upon completion. A good horror experience should balance clarity and mystery, but BLACKOUT leans too heavily on ambiguity.
Gameplay Mechanics
The game incorporates platforming sections that are frustrating and poorly executed. The influence of games like PT is evident, but the overuse of this style feels unoriginal. While the exploration aspect builds tension, it often feels like a walking simulator with limited interaction.
Final Thoughts
BLACKOUT has strong elements, including its atmosphere and some scares, but ultimately falls short in storytelling and gameplay execution. It’s an inexpensive title worth considering, especially for fans of atmospheric horror, but it leaves much to be desired. A sequel could build on these foundations and create a more compelling experience.

Very good price for a game like this very creepy and atmospheric not as long as I thought it was but good atmosphere.
More of a walking simulator I thought you could interact with more things in the game but like I said I loved it and I loved the pixel art of this game. Great Work.

Better than them newest game "Cursed House" which is unplayable. This one is cheaper & bit better with those jump scares. It can be improved, but in 1 year it seems it didn't. Pixelated & walking over the lines in void is annoying af. This actually raise concerns about the devs & them future games.

Short horror experience, it may not be for everyone but it has a charm to it.
+ Pixel graphics
+ Light jump scares
- You can only walk, no option to run
- Frustrating game play
- Very minimal story
- Short game

A slow plodding P.S. like walking sim that doesn't really try to tell you a story leaving you to wonder what the point of all of your 30+ minute journey was for and then leaves you with an unfinished ending. The music was the only thing that was good at setting the mood but other than that there are so many more other horror games that deserve your attention than this one that you should just pass on this one.

THE GOOD:
-A fantastic use of lighting and ambient sounds effects to help sell the mood and immerse the player
-Basic monster design, but still quite scary for what it is
-Pretty decent soundtrack
-Damn cheap
-Some good spooks here and there
THE BAD:
-The pixelated style this game has just doesn't work at all. Most games that have this type of art style will also have low poly and low quality textures to bring the whole style together, but in Blackout, the game sticks with modern high poly/ high res textures with a pixel filter slapped on top. This game would've been far better looking if they removed the pixel filter imo
-Vast majority of jumpscares are just an audio stinger and a spooky thing jumping at you, nothing more
-Almost no world-building. No notes or little pieces of dialogue that can show us what our character is thinking or what is happening, things just happen in this game. Sure, the fear of the unknown can be a pretty scary part of horror games, but the best horror games always tread the fine line between explaining everything, and telling the player nothing. Blackout does the latter. for most of the game, I have no idea what is going on or why it's happening and the game kinda just ends abruptly. A good horror should leave a sense of satisfaction when completing it but also leave some questions for player, Blackout just leaves me with so many questions that I just wasn't satisfied with the completion.
-Dear god that "platforming" section was awful
-Has the unoriginal PT style that I've seen in so many other horror games (This style can be done well but dear lord I've seen it too much).
Overall, the game definitely had some strong elements going in its favour but that's about it. Definitely not a terrible game, but not a great game. I actually really hope this game will be continued and expanded upon in a sequel of some sort.

Discount/Bargain bin P.T. except that halfway through the game, it becomes a shitty platformer where you need to walk down short curved lines while your character is drunk, thus the screen is shaking all over the place making it so you fall and have to repeat it all over again, wasting a ton of your time, if it wasn't for that you could beat this in about 30 minutes. There is no save system, or pause system for that matter, the jump scares are lame and the "monsters" are just boring mannequins. In the beginning the main character has a few voiced lines, but when the "spoopy stuff" starts happening, he is mysteriously quiet, probably cause the voice actor has no skill at voice acting. The game also has this pixelated filter the entire time, that you can not turn off.
Basically, save your money and get an actual game... this is a "Markiplier game" meant to be streamed by a Youtuber so they can pretend and exaggerate their reactions to make some money from their fans.
