This is a great game to hand off to people. Couldn't be simpler. The draw of increasing your deadliness as you fight on through different levels is pretty addicting. Stand still, shoot zombies before they reach you, etc. The only thing I would like is a semi-automatic pistol. It'd be a rush to push through on marksmanship, rather then the spray and pray or grenade launcher or laser bubble gun.

As someone who often struggles with nausea induced by VR locomotion from games such as Onward, I tend to stick to the static shooters like Propagation and The Brookehaven Experiment. VAR: Exterminate is an excellent addition to the static, wave based shooter genre. The roguelite style is also a welcomed change and provides lots of variables to increase replayability. I'm keen to see where VAR goes from here. Definitely worth the price tag.

This game is pretty good if you haven't played a lot of zombie wave shooters. It's not bad! Does a lot of things right. It's a combination of my 2 favourite wave shooters. Waves of Death and Time Carnage. Unfortunately it's not better than either of them.
Doesn't have environmental destruction and lacks in environment and weapon variety.
The actual shooting of zombies feels pretty good though and the animations are nice. Just not enough to dethrone my current favs. Zombie wave shooter genre is a tough genre. Very competitive.
This is early access though so I will continue to follow this game. Definitely has potential.

This is a surprisingly good wave shooter for an early access. It looks pretty decent and so far the gameplay is stellar. A really nice note for me is the environment design in which we are placed in to defend. Detailed enough to look pretty sweet and unique enough to not look all the same.
However they lack some quality of life upgrades that would make this a really good game such as:
* Support for Valve Index is pretty bad, to reload i had to press the grip.
* Lack of 2nd hand - So only one hand is really used in this game, would be nice to see something to use the 2nd hand for (Reloading logic is hardcoded to the stats of your weapon so thats out of the way, perhaps a dual wield weapon or a context hand like for shields, grenades etc)
* Only 2 chapters with accompanying fixed enemies - Would be nice to get some sort of survival mode/endless mode/free play but i suppose thats fine since its still EA
* Variety/build is a must in this type of genre, so having 3 guns only to choose from might be kind of a let down (The drones and armor dont really influence much unless you specced to a specific build)
Hope to follow the progress of this dev!
On another note, if you're interested in wave shooters...

Beautiful graphics, a bunch of action and clear controls - an ideal shooter for both VR beginners and experienced users. However, despite the ease of use, the weapon feels quite realistic, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the game, and all this is complemented by excellent sounds of the environment. The graphics are really good and don't look soapy. But most of all, the price for which the developers ask for their product is gladdens - $ 10. It's pretty hard to find a good game at this price these days. Therefore, if you have VR and you like to shoot, then you can safely buy.

LOVE THIS GAME! If you haven't played this game you are missing out, and for such a small price, it is worth every penny.
Not very often is a Wave-Only shooter scoring so high on the replayability meter, but this game is just so much FUN! The hordes of zombies still startle and scare me when I turn around and find one has gotten way to close to me... The satisfaction of killing these beasts with the weapons you have access to is addicting and fresh from the perspective of a die-hard Apocalypse style game lover who has been playing since the first Resident Evil.
The devs are also very open to bug submissions, questions of mechanics, and suggestion intake. They seem to care about what people think of the game and want to improve it. That is rare these days. I will be buying a few copies of this game as gifts that I think will be appreciated by the receivers.
Do yourself a favor, and buy this game... and tell me how far you can get before your screen is covered in blood and you're cursing the undead at 2 in the morning because you forgot about that crazy little exploding bastard that got to close while you were focused on the giant Monster coming toward you from the other direction. GOOD LUCK

This is an awful stand-in-place VR zombie shooter. For one thing, the frame rate is locked at 45 fps no matter what graphic setting or Steam supersampling setting. I could not get above 45 fps at all using an RTX2080 and i9 processor. The graphics are not impressive and the zombies have paper mache looking faces and a strange dithering texture up close. They also drop from the sky for some reason in large groups. The gameplay is also repetitive and dull. I cannot recommend this game.

Pretty good game, especially for the price. Nice for when you don't want to move around much or use both hands to play a game.
The card abilities can make for some pretty fun combinations as the waves go on, and there seems to be a good amount!
Going to be a good game to show to people as it doesn't require much set up or movement.
Has a lot of potential, hope they continue to work on it, as so far so good.

Ok, that was fun for ~<30min.
Do you like shooting Zombies? This is kinda like a 'shooting gallery' of sorts. (except the Zombies come at you from 3 sides instead of just one)
This thing has waves and waves of them, they just keep coming and coming. The Zombies will spawn (or drop) into the play space in up to five different locations and start coming at you. YOU are standing in one spot the entire time. (or in my case, I'm just sitting in my easy chair in my living room) While you can turn your head and turn pivot your body with the right joystick (no smooth turning here) your in one place and the left controller is pretty much useless.
The gun has a laser pointer that mostly points out where the 'main' bullet is going. I mention 'main' as between waves you are presented with 3 "buffs" to add to ether yourself, the gun or damage to the Zombies. You have to pick one of the three. One of the options I picked seemingly "split" the bullet into multiple (I think 3), 'exploding zombies' I think is one of the other fun options available.
The graphics and art work look nice and there are a number of different Zombies that come at you. Some are slower/faster than others and some are more bullet sponges than others. Due to how slow the gun fires there will be a point where the Zombies start piling up right in front of you (on top of you?) and you'll start taking damage.
From the videos on the Steam store page it seems that there are day and night cycles (I only witnessed night) and it looks like there are other weapons that are made available, I played through both "chapters" once and only had one gun.
That in a nutshell is all there is to it.
I was not sure what to expect for $15, there surely is room for expandability and improvement. My first thought is that there might be more than 2 "chapters" and have each chapter be a different location to mix things up a bit. Next is the buff system between waves - why not have the option of NOT picking a buff? Or maybe you picked one earlier that you don't like and be able to remove it? Where's the "tree" of buffs? When and if do we ever get other guns? Can we have a selection of them?
While this is a very simple game and there really is not much here, I can see that it could be a quick mindless time waster and was fun while it lasted. (after all, who does not like killing Zombies?)
I'm not quite sure why the minimum GPU is a GTX1060 as all we are looking at is a static environment with a bunch of Zombies drawn in and moving around. I'm guessing that the very wimpy CPU/GPU in my Quest2 could render this game natively.
It does look decent enough and did not crash. Is it really worth $15?
Frankly right now I don't think so.
