Sins 2 understands what made its predecessor great, and carefully builds upon it with improved performance, beautiful graphics, and some refined systems. They made the wheel rounder and didn't fall to the temptation of re-inventing it.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is already a complex game with its different difficulty levels, but in Sins of a Solar Empire 2, it's a whole different story. The AI is much smarter than in Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, it will do everything it can to give you a hard time, even on normal difficulty. Gone are the days of easily defending with double or triple starbases! The AI can now destroy them with ease, adapting its fleet accordingly. You can have over 10,000 unit slots by enabling an option in the game settings. If you have a high-end PC like mine (Ryzen 5090X), you won’t have any issues managing a 10,000-unit fleet. However, you may drop below 50-60 FPS due to the sheer number of units. On the other hand, if you have an 8th or 9th-gen Intel processor and an RTX 2080, forget about running 10,000 units. Graphics & Atmosphere: A More Lifelike Galaxy: Right from the start, Sins of a Solar Empire 2 impresses with its stunning visual overhaul. Ship models are more detailed, lighting and explosion effects are more realistic, and star maps feel more dynamic thanks to improved physics and shading. The game’s sound design also enhances the immersion, featuring an epic orchestral score and intense battle effects. Gameplay: Real-Time Strategy Meets Deep 4X Mechanics: The franchise has always been known for its unique blend of real-time strategy and 4X elements, and Sins of a Solar Empire 2 continues that tradition. Colonization, diplomacy, and economic management are deeper than ever, requiring careful planning and strategy. The AI has seen a major upgrade. Unlike Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, where certain tactics could be exploited, the AI here adapts dynamically. Gone are the days of relying on double or triple starbases for defense enemy fleets will adjust their composition to counter your tactics effectively. One of the biggest new features is the ability to have over 10,000 units in a single match. While this allows for breathtaking large-scale battles. Multiplayer: More Intense Skirmishes: Multiplayer is more fluid and balanced than ever. Battles between players are intense, and the improved trade routes and alliance mechanics add an extra layer of strategic depth. Servers are stable, and large matches run smoothly without major lag. Final Score: 9/10 Pros ✔️ Improved graphics and visual effects ✔️ Smarter, more adaptive AI ✔️ Massive battles with up to 10,000 units ✔️ Stable and well-balanced multiplayer Cons ❌ Requires a powerful PC for large-scale battles ❌ Steep learning curve for newcomers

The game is functional but plays very close to any version of Soase 1. Considering that, the asking price isn't really worth it, try to get it on sale if you can. In addition, while the 3d art is fairly nice most if not all the 2d art is very low quality, looks like ai.

Bought full pack on release lacks balance and basic stuff from first game aswell as the dlc adding no content at all. For nearly a year no patches. Looks like cash grab, only modders will improve the game, hope MAELSTORM will return on this version, Otherwise keep out untill something changes for the better

This game is fun and feels like the beginning of a successor to the original. It needs a good bit of work to equal, much less surpass, the original. If that was all I would thumbs up and be patient. Currently however the game crashes so much it's nearly unplayable. I will keep playing though and if they fix it, I will change review, otherwise consider it extremely buggy.

Love the game, a good evolution of the first game. Graphics are good, mod support is good, item system give you a sense of control, RPG-style. Cons: The art was way superior in the first game, for example, special relics art is cool and really tell a story, some pieces of art there feel soulless, IDK if they are using AI or something but some of the magic was lost. And the other thing, is that some voice lines are weird, like when you lose your armor on a ship/SB/whatever, and the voice like say "How???" Well, we are getting battered by the OP alien capital ships and we have *check notes* an Akkan battlecruiser, useless as hell. Still a Yes since the game is a solid heir of the first game, with better everything.

Better with friends, but lots of fun as a long slow RTS.

Game feels like it wants to be bigger than it is, or maybe that's me, either way its not all that satisfying to me. I cant really play it like a 4x and the RTS is a little limited. This one just didn't hit for me I guess. Too little of both Genre for me to get pulled into it.

First off, have to say, Sin 2 release caught me totally by surprise. Didn't see it on Steam until this December! Sins has always been great for so many reasons. Sins 2 continues the tradition and is an amazing game. Thumbs up! Better advertising/marketing might be needed to reach players like me. The graphical improvements are fantastic. Sins 1 looked great and Sins 2 is beautiful. Each faction plays differently and uniquely while having some similarities. Sins 2 continues to do this very well. Really enjoying the ship items and building that load out the right way for each game. A lot of variation and utility there. Item choices can allow capital ships to play a totally different role than it might seem at first. Enjoying the variations on planet/ship items, artifacts, traits, etc. More of this is always good! Weapon Symbiote is not fun to face down...a nasty but fun surprise. Spiritually, Sins 2 is a worthy successor!

It is basically Sins of a Solar Empire 1 but updated to look and play much better, though some features of what SoaSE eventually became through expansions and smaller dlc are not present, they, or variants thereupon are on the cards for future updates, so if you enjoyed the original game but want a smoother, more visually striking experience this is great, if however you want a diverse and wide range of mods to enhance your experience beyond what is currently on offer (at the time of writing) stick with SoaSE:Rebellion for the time being.
