One of the best yuri VN I've played. The music is amazing as well.

Disappointing. Melancholy love was a lot better.
AND this game has a serious problem with achievements not working.

first of all you should know this is the first game or the prequel of Melancholy Love , but they released Melancholy Love first so you better play this first .
now let’s let’s review this game in points.
PROS :
+ the music is the same as Melancholy Love but it still so beautiful
+ the artstlye is also beautiful
+ the story is the normal formula of yuri games : ( an quiet girl love a normal girl ) but the way they Implement it is so good with inner talk and the poetry in the game give it a special atmosphere ( but i still hate the whole yuri games concept after all )
CONS :
- the choices are a total bullshit , i had to read a guide to achieve all endings
- the endings didn’t add anything to the game , i feel like the author just put anything in his mind to add more endings my talk here is about the endings where
( Zihua mother told her she will take her to somewhere but then the game ended
, and when
( she just look at letter and the game ended )
, but the rest were good and show you many possible scenarios to how the story can end .
- the events at the end were so rushed and weren’t obvious enough
- the skip is too slow , and you should know you will use it a lot
- the characters weren’t deep at all like for example Qianxun from Melancholy Love
- the game is so overpriced like all this publisher games
Conclusion
Symbiotic Love is a good game but nothing more than this , if you want a decent normal yuri game , this is for you
my rating 6/10 .

I'd recommend playing the demo to know what you're getting into. Note that the opening scene
implies suicide and contains a somewhat graphic CG
. It's also worth mentioning that, despite being translated later, this is actually the first game in the Linghua series and it was originally released before Melancholy Love.
The story itself is interesting, though the constant perspective and time shifts can make it harder to follow. You can keep track by paying attention to the year and color of the ribbon/text box. The localization reads well and has minimal/no noticeable spelling or grammatical errors.
The game plays different sounds for "good" and "bad" choices but getting all the endings can still be tricky without a guide. The skip option is oddly slow but holding Space (force skip) bypasses this issue. The description says, "choices matter with different endings", but this is pretty literal since the story is mainly linear and the ending is the only thing that differs based on choices.
I experienced a few technical issues, the biggest one being that the game doesn't launch on MacOS X (10.14.6) at all for me. Saves are a little strange and loading a save at a choice will usually drop you a few lines before the choice. The message log sometimes goes crazy and stacks all the messages together. There's also a bug where all the artwork sometimes disappears, leaving nothing but the interface and text over a black background until the next scene change.
The story won't be everyone's cup of tea, but the writing is solid enough to recommend despite some inconsistent pacing and technical issues.

Painful yet beautiful story.
I wonder that what have changed Qingwei and Zihua so much after this 10 years. Can't wait for other sequels.

First of all I want to say that this game should definitely not be treated as a prequel, but rather as the starting point for this series. I played Melancholy Love first as the synopsis (originally) suggested I should do, but already noticed that it felt like a sequel with pay-offs for Symbiotic Love that I couldn't possibly get.
That being said, Symbiotic Love is an intriguing story that has plenty of length (~12-14 hours for 100% completion in my case) and narrative depth to it, with switching POV (point of views) between the two protagonists. The main group of girls is very interesting and entertaining, with the poor, but sociable Jisuo being the lynchpin that drives the plot and the rich, but sheltered/caged Zihua as the main perspective that the results of your choices revolve around. This story has one of the strongest and more unnerving hooks for a love story I have seen in a while. It becomes clear in minute one that this story will go dark places (the main theme being Romeo and Juliet is not accidental), which only makes the Slice of Life segments all the more bittersweet. The play with time jumps can even cause whiplash at times, but I overall could follow the plot well enough. Many plot points are more on the subtle or subtexty side and this being a series, some questions will absolutely not get answered here and are left open for later games.
It also includes 5 endings that are entirely choice dependent. Much like with Melancholy Love, the game features Positive/Negative audio cues when making a choice, which is a rather unique feature. To achieve ALL the different endings the player has to really think how to interact with those positive and negative choice balances, even involving the two main characters specific choices.
The game explicitly delivers on the yuri, no subtext here, which I didn't doubt after playing Melancholy Love, but it certainly takes a slightly different approach to it.
As a standalone experience I would definitely recommend the game at this price, but it benefits from having a sequel at the ready which builds on it, so I would say the Bundle is worth it more than simply just buying Symbiotic Love alone.

This review contains spoilers for both Symbiotic Love and Melancholy Love
This game is absolutely amazing, I am personally obsessed with the story in this game. My only issue with this game is that in Melancholy Love it's teased that Jisuo is actually alive but it's not talked about more in this game. I really hope we get another game in this series that goes into that more because i truly love these characters and series. Overall this game is heart wrenching and beautiful.

Interesting yuri visual novel. The story is decent, and the choices do matter. Now there are quite a few endings. And some of them are bad. Can't even say there is a true good ending, considering... well, the opening scene. Might suggest acquiring this and the sequel at the same time. Also, it appears there are two others in the series, that have yet to get English versions.

I actually love this game and the series, but I just can't recommend it.
The art is beautiful, the story is captivating, the music is nice to listen to.
What brings this game and Melancholy Love down is the use of Electron.
It frequently "crashes". To be precise, around every hour it turns to a black screen and I have to restart it, sometimes loosing progress. I recommend frequent saving. It's laggy, not too bad visually, but the sound cracks. It memory leaks, eating up more and more RAM during a session. The whole interface is slow, sometimes unresponsive and I need to click on menu prompts multiple times, before it registers. It might be because it's so laggy in general, but the text speed is very low, it's either wait multiple seconds for the text to appear, or let it appear instantly.
It's overall just not a nice experience on the technical level, which is a shame, because everything else is so good.
