Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath
follows Stranger, a mysterious bounty hunter who captures outlaws using live ammunition—literally, small creatures with unique abilities and stealth. Developed by Oddworld Inhabitants, the game blends first-person shooting and third-person platforming, set in a Western-inspired, steampunk world. With great voice acting, an immersive soundtrack, and a cast of unique characters, the game offers epic boss fights and the ability to seamlessly switch between third-person and first-person perspectives. You can save anywhere and approach bosses in different ways, adding to the strategic depth. Performance Tips for Older Systems Since it's an older game, you might encounter issues—consider buying it on sale. Here are two fixes that worked for me:
Fix Method 1:
In the white launcher window, check Vsync. Go to Advanced, set max FPS to 40, and check Sync GPU. This fixes camera and sensitivity issues, making the game run perfectly.
Fix Method 2:
Right-click the launcher → Properties → Compatibility. At the bottom, go to Change high DPI settings. Check Override high DPI scaling behavior and set it to Application. I used both fixes, and the game runs perfectly—even with Reshade enabled.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is a very unique and competent first person shooter. It's also a very different Oddworld game when looking back at the older titles. I looked at footage of the original Xbox version of Stranger's Wrath and did not remember it looking as bad. They did a great job with the HD version, for the most part. I did run in to a couple of bugs e.g, Some graphical issues and missing voice lines. I love the ammo system of the game, it lets you get really creative with different combos. I love the design of the creatures and world, Stranger has a really great voice and cowboy look to him. Enemies are a bit samey in their designs, but there is enough variety to satisfy the length of the game. I like how enemies taunt you, laugh and step on your corpse once you die. Bossfights aren't super unique, but serviceable enough. I realize now why I remember Flint Mcgee more than the others bosses and that's simply because of how unique of a gameplay section he has with the minecart tracks. He is in my opinion one of the more interesting bosses to fight. The game starts off as a western inspired bounty hunter game where you catch outlaws and bring them in for moolah. Then later when you are revealed to be a Steef (In arguable one of the best cutscenes of the game) it dials the action up to 11 and becomes a lot more of a fast paced shooter, which is my favorite part of the game. This is where you will receive most of the upgrades to your standard ammo. I almost wish you would get some of them sooner, because they are super fun to use. You are also able to charge at enemies with right click, sending them flying which is super fun. I love the design of Sekto's giant dam. There is a cool D-Day inspired section when you arrive at Last Legs. There's not a ton of cutscenes, but their quality and story telling are fantastic. I especially love the twist at the end where it is revealed that Sekto was the old Steef. I'm suprised at how much Stranger's Wrath has held up and I get the want for a sequel, but the game is such a tight and conclusive experience I'm satisifed with it existing by it self.
