First of all, I would definitely recommend this game for it's sweet story, satisfying gameplay, and unique art style.
However, a pretty big drawback for me is the system of lives in this game. You only get 5 lives and, as far as I can tell, once those are gone you either have to start the entire game over again or reload from your last checkpoint where you're on your last bit of health and one hit sends you back to the menu.
If you're fantastic at platformers then I'm sure you could get through this game no problem. As someone who isn't particularly great, the constant resetting has annoyed me to the point where I'm not sure I'll be finishing this game. I've heard great things about the ending, I just wish it weren't so frustrating to get there...
