Playtime:
6 minutes
This game is kinda fun for a few minutes, but sadly it needs some more time in the oven I think. I wish Steam had more granular ways to rate things, because I do think this game has promise and it's kinda fun for a couple minutes, but unfortunately I can't recommend it as it currently stands.
The good:
- The premise has a lot of potential. It kinda reminds me of those old Rampage games where you just destroy the city as a giant monster. We need more games like that.
- I love the art style and just how absurd Kong looks
- It's pretty fun to just run around smashing buildings and chuck cars around
The bad:
- The controls feel pretty clunky. Kong gets stuck on buildings a bit too often, and I felt it was pretty tricky to grab the car I was trying to grab without smashing it in the process
- You're constantly picking up powerups, but I wasn't really sure what those powerups were doing
- There's very little enemy variety, and even less variety in how you deal with the enemies that exist. You either hit the attack button or throw a car and hope it hits them.
- Even when you're surrounded by enemies, it never really feels like they're a threat.
