If you liked this game on XBLIG, you will love this game here.
Good:
Direct port! It looks, runs, and plays just as you remember.
Low end friendly! Even on a potato like mine, I can run this smoothly and comfortably, and I've got integrated graphics by Intel.
Gamepad control feels great!
Mouse and keyboard control feels great!
Quality of life enhancements! Go even further beyond the 360 limits, with Anti-Aliasing, Post Processing, and further draw distance.
Having other games by ProjectorGames rewards you with cosmetic items!
Meh:
Changing Anti-Aliasing, and Post Processing requires a restart due to a bug.
I would like to rebind my controls.
With all the extra buttons a keyboard has to offer, it would be nice to have a better inventory exclusive to PC.
I still remember getting a copy of FortressCraft Evolved, and building for hours, then kind of missing the 360 version. I friended the dev, DjArcas at the time, and looking back, I'm surprised how patient he was with me, as I was an annoying little kid. I remember asking him if he was going to bring Chapter 1 to Steam, and he replied to that by telling me that he doesn't want to go back to XNA, since it was a nightmare to deal with, and Unity proved to be a lot more powerful, and useful. I thought at the time that this meant it was never coming, and after pestering him about it for a bit longer, since I wasn't the most socially experienced, I decided to bring the pestering to an end and accept that it wasn't coming, or so I thought. When I found out that it released a little over a month ago on Steam, I was ecstatic. An old wish granted by a combination of pure luck, and an anniversary. I could never be happier, now that the game has been immortalized on PC. Thank you, DjArcas, both for putting up with my annoying kid self, and for bringing this nostalgic game back for another run. For the memories of the past, and for future memories you can make with friends on Steam, definitely add this amazing port to your collection.

I spent 19ish hours playing this game on my Xbox 360 back in the day (this game was the sole reason I went with a 360), it's fun, enjoyable and relaxing. Having the ability to have multiple worlds along with the long lost 11th content patch are definite nice to haves! My favourite "relics" to this day are the automated digger and builders as they just plainly reduces the time building the "boring stuff" and I can just focus on the important stuff of a given build!
My only compliant about this port is that the game advertises that you can import your old Xbox worlds if you have them, but it's not as simple as copying them onto your USB stick and putting it into the 'worlds' folder; there are quite a few hoops you need to jump through (according to a tweet convo I'm having with the Dev), and I have yet to successfully import my one.
Overall though, I would recommend this game as it is simply a fun voxel-based sandbox game with some extra bells and whistles which you could only achieve with mods with other games of it's class/type. =)

I remember playing this game back on the Xbox 360 and spending hours everyday building and making custom blocks inside the workshop. and I love building game like FortressCraft or Minecraft but I could never get into Minecraft for some reason just wasn't the game for me and FortressCraft just ticked all my box's and I loved everything about it and Loved building.
I would highly recommend this game and most definitely buy it if you like building and making super detailed creations.
I prefer this block build game over anything I've waited years for this game to come out on PC and I'm so happy it did! Can't wait to gift a few games to friends and enjoy endless hours of fun and building :)
If you have any question about this game. Please feel free to comment on my profile or add me! :)

The best block game on Steam, now even better than it was on the Xbox 360 by quite a margin. Good job! Hoping for more updates in the future also, or at least tweaks and bugfixes.
EDIT: I wonder if the devs have considered selling the soundtrack for FortressCraft: Chapter 1 on Steam? It's quite the banger, and I'd love to be able to listen to it when I'm not playing the game, too.

Words cannot describe how nostalgic I am for this game.
I used to play this all the time on Xbox Live, I remember everything despite not playing it for 10+ years.
I'm very happy to see it on Steam.
The game takes a bit to get used to, especially if you're used to Minecraft voxel controls (left/right click are "swapped").
Not everything is unlocked initially, different features are locked behind "relics" that can be found in the world using an audio cue that gets higher in pitch the closer you are to any one.
Some other keyboard controls are not obvious, such as using the arrow keys to browse the block selection and page up/down to change tabs within that menu. Using a controller is preferred, given that the game was designed with it in mind.
There is an in-game developer console that can be accessed with right shift. You can enter "noclip" once all relics have been found, allowing you to free roam around the world. The console also grants access to split screen and other technical features. This is also where you can turn off the spider creature using the "togglespider" command.
Steam Deck and Linux support is still in progress, I have asked the developers over Discord and they mentioned that they were discussing it recently. As of now, using no beta with Proton GE will allow you to enter the menu without crashing. However, loading into a world will freeze the game completely. Check the latest news in regards to this as this may be fixed in the future.
I enjoyed playing this game alone, but I'd imagine it'd be better with friends. Perhaps Steam's remote play together feature could come to this game? I also wish there was cloud save, achievements, and generally better Steam support.
Given that the devs are active, I have hope that this little game I grew up with will eventually grow itself. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for it, but I feel as though there's potential. I'm happy to play it again, at least.

If you like building things out of blocks and being creative then this game is for you. It is "The" best voxel creative game from the Xbox 360, you can build anything your imagination lets you. I spent many years enjoying this game on the Xbox, and glad to see it on steam for a new younger generation of players to enjoy it's creative appeal.

This review will be for those who are unaware of what exactly fortresscraft is like, and who don't know if it's worth getting over similar creative titles. Fortresscraft is as you may be aware from the descriptions a creative builder in the style of titles like Minecraft and Blockland, with the main features setting it apart from those titles being the inclusion of additional minigames, as well as the ability to make your own custom blocks using the "workshop" in the game, allowing for greater creativity in building.
The first thing you will notice when you start Fortresscraft is that you don't have all of the abilities available right away such as flight and increased speed, and you may also notice weird droning sounds in certain areas, this is because of "relics", relics are pickups hidden underground in most general levels, which when acquired will grant you the feature of a given relic, which can then be toggled in the relics menu, such relics include both mechanics to make movement easier for the player, as well as the extra game modes, such as spleef, freeze tag, and manhunt. finding these relics may seem annoying for some, but it can be achieved easier by making a flat world, or simply going into the "demo world" included with the game, as you'll find the relics within that map if you don't already have them (not sure if that is intended behavior however).
The main and most important factor of the game is of course how it plays, and that may be a mixed bag for some, as some of the controls can seem a little clunky such as needing to use keys to access various menus such as switching blocks, this is because fortresscraft is a port of an xbox 360 indie title which made use of the xbox 360 controller and as such the mappings are more of a translation of how they were on console, and as such you may prefer to use a controller as the controls were originally designed for such, but I found for me using the keyboard was fine, and using the mouse for building just feels really nice. As for building, you have a selection of a few different blocks of various themes, and in regard to placing them you have various options, such as various tools that all seem to perform similar functions with placing and breaking blocks, as well as a tool that allows you to rapid fire blocks making placing and removing large amounts of blocks easier, and on top of that, you have builder and digger machines that automatically place or break blocks for you meaning you have less work to do, although they function a little oddly with for some reason the digger obeying gravity, while the builder does not, and while not much can be done to stop the digger before it eventually despawns, the builder can be stopped by putting blocks in front of its path.
As I mentioned before, one of the biggest draws of the game is the workshop, where you can make custom blocks allowing for various features that are not included by default to be added, such as stairs, and doors (unless I just didn't look hard enough for them), and this feature is in general quite robust, allowing you to make blocks of any shape as long as they fit within the physical space of the workshop.
Graphically, the game does look like an xbox 360 indie title, and some of the visual features such as bloom can be overwhelming, but thankfully you can turn those off if you don't like them, and the game has dynamic lighting, including multiple coloured torches achieving features that certain titles haven't achieved in over a decade of existing, and did I mention this game is a decade old? Overall it's not a bad looking title for a voxel based building game, but some of the ui can be a little primitive, but given the small dev team, it can be forgiven. I should also mention that if you have a good enough pc, you can have most settings up high while maintaining 60fps, but due to the engine being limited to 32bit, certain settings may not work well on any setups, and there isn't much that can be done to fix it unfortunately.
Overall I'd recommend this game to people who want a good creative builder but don't wish to mod minecraft, or don't have the money for one of the bigger titles, but do look out for some of the jank and bugs, but having played 3d sonic games, it's no big deal to me personally. If anyone ends up deciding to get this game because of me, feel free to add me and come visit my world of crappy builds since I'm not a great builder, but I got the spirit lol. If there's anything I missed, I either haven't checked it out yet (the minigames, certain aspects of the workshop) or am unaware of their existence.
One more thing, this game does have a sequel called fortresscraft evolved which is more survival focused, along with another sequel coming sometime in the future, and buying this title does support the development of the additional sequel, but although I personally haven't played much of it, if you find yourself wanting something with more objectives and goals, then evolved might be more up your alley, and it also runs in a better engine with less jank but feel free to take a look if you're interested. That concludes my review and I apologize if it appears as a wall of text, but hopefully it's helpful to some people.
