A nice point& click experience. The game isn't long (between 1 and 2 hours to complete) but is definitely worth it!

The World After is an FMV game with gameplay similar to Contradiction: Spot the Liar.
A writer has recurring dreams and the answer to their meaning lies somewhere in the French village where he resides. It's an interesting set-up, and while there isn't a great deal to the plot, I liked what there is.
Unlike most modern FMV games, there is only one choice in this game to make. It isn't the sort of game where you make many choices, and from those choices come many variations in the plot. It's basically a point-and-click adventure game in FMV form, complete with inventory and a small number of characters to interact with.
I disagree with the reviewer who said it is a walking simulator. It is not a walking sim at all. Navigation is through point-and-click. It's not the sort of game where you spend ages wondering around looking for things and not interacting with anyone. Nor is it the sort of game where you have endless puzzles to solve in an environment where you are alone either.
There is a sense of adventure to the story of this game, so therefore it does warrant the adventure tag, in my opinion. Don't expect a deep mystery that will take hours to fully explore and enjoy, like Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within, for example. But you can expect an interesting, if perhaps confusing story.
The few puzzles that are here are easy to solve. This is a game made to tell a story, not to provide a deep gameplay experience. It is aimed at the casual gaming crowd.
The acting is quite good. There isn't a lot demanded of the lead, but he acts out his part well. And his character is not annoying either.
Overall, I like this game, even though it is very short and there isn't a great deal to it. The sci-fi theme reminds me a little of a game I played yesterday - The Dark Side of the Moon. If you have played and enjoyed that game, then I recommend this one too.

Unfortunately the audio only seems to work half the time. Technically you could still play with subtitles only as they still work, but that isn't good enough for me.

A short but sweet game. The quality of the film shots is really nice, and the story is well written.
The second half of the game (from after the mansion gate) felt a little too linear, as you can only access one or two screens at a time. If you missed a lore QR-code at some point, you will realise this only in the very last game scene, forcing you to replay the game to get the true ending. A more open approach to the map would have been nice.
The puzzles were simple but consistent with the world, and the day/night mechanic was a great idea. Except for the very last puzzle, the solutions are more or less apparent from the story or available items.

Very charming FMV game, in the vein of Contradiction or the recent Dark Side of the Moon. Low budget but really well put together, although quite short. Different endings help improve replay value though. It has beautiful countryside France and solid acting (Jean-Claude Dreyfus is a delight). There is a lot of absurd humour hidden here and there, which I really enjoyed. This is clearly a passion project from the small dev team, and just for that and the amount of work it takes to create a FMV game during a pandemic, it should be supported as much as possible.

While the backgrounds are great and the acting is fine, the actual game itself falls short of its potential. The point and click puzzles are entirely unrelated to the plot and often nonsensical. The sci-fi elements in the game COULD be used well in a point and click game to make puzzles more interesting and flesh out the world, but they're sorely underutilized. Using them is less of a logical step you realize you must take to solve a puzzle and more of something you just resort to.
All of this would be halfway acceptable if the plot was entertaining, but there's hardly any plot at all. The collectible video logs are about the only thing to reference the plot and even then, they're more elements of a plot than an actual cohesive story.
I regret having paid around $13 for this. For as little as the game offers, I wouldn't want to pay more than $3 for this.

The World After has been good fun so far! Although I am nowhere near finished with the game yet, I was compelled to write a mini-"review", seeing as (for some reason) there are no other reviews written yet.
It's a beautifully-shot game, with cinematic videography. It looks great. Thus far, it's a seamless FMV/interactive game where your choices matter vis-a-vis progression of the storyline. It's a brilliant idea for a storyline, too (especially w/ the present-day wordlwide pandemic situation). I've just gotten into what is apparently some sort of a time-traveling situation.
I'm playing with English subtitles and voice-dubbing as the choice (there are other language choices). The dialogue is well-written, but my only quibble is, though the English voice over dubbing is very well done for the main character, the other characters' English language voice-dubbing are NOT well-acted. I'm not sure why.
I've been producing, directing, and editing video for 40 years (recently retired), and have also done voice dubbing for just as many years, and I would have cringed as a producer to hear some of these voice-translations. Again, and thank goodness, the main character's English-dubbed voice is great, but NOT so the others. At least as far as I've gotten into the game, which admittedly is not much (Julie; the main character's friend, and the Alex Jones-type character: they're almost like bad Anime-stereotype examples of English-language voice acting). This being said, at least to me this is forvigable as the story itself and the game's appearance and environments are interesting and fun to navigate through.
Little in-game mechanics, such as holding spacebar to skip transitions from place to place you've already seen, are helpful.
Dialogue trees equally so. And, miracle of miracles: several save slots! An absolute rarity in today's adventure games (thanks, DEV teams!).
When you combine the somewhat-rare FMV game that's beautifully shot, with a good storyline and interesting environments...with several save slots AND (ta-daaaa!!!!!) a VERY good price point? In my eyes, you've got a winner. I hope this team does more games like this. I just hope they use better voice actors for their English dubbing next time. Thank goodness the main character's English voice was really good. And,perhaps for those of you NOT playing in English, YOUR actors' voices are just fine. As I said, to me a MINOR quibble.
Definite thumbs-up for this game, especially for us adventure gamers.

Walking sim, I would not assign the “adventure“ tag to this.

[*]Easy point and click game mechanics
[*]Nice scenery
You are in a post-pandemic world with a unique time travelling remote. That part was fun. Some items are available in the daytime, some in the dark. None of the puzzles are difficult. There is one at the end that you can easily overthink :-)), don’t.
Another unique feature is the QR codes you find scattered about. Scan these with your phone to trigger other characters commentary.
There are voice overs. The protagonist’s voice work is good. I did not care for the other characters, and the English dubbing is just a bit off.
There are few game options, it is limited to sound volume.
There is an auto-save option in addition to manual save slots! Thank you!
There are multiple endings. This is where manual save slots are so nice. You do not have to replay the entire game to see alternate endings.
After the game you have the option of playing it as a visual novel.
Free DLC is coming. The free DLC will be the same game, but with 90's FMV style graphics and sounds, like Gabriel Knight 2 or Phantasmagoria.
The game ran perfectly for me, play time was about two hours.
