Souls-like combat in a series of samey-looking caves. There are some EXTREMELY-light crafting mechanics. The combat feels very slow and clunky. The ragdolling looks cool but it doesn't make up for the shortfalls for me. I wish I could give this a thumb sideways but since I can't, I guess I'll upvote it. https://youtu.be/MxoKj3PndvM

Graphics don't make a good game people, and this is yet another perfect example of that. "Quest for Cathrinite" is an insult and a slap in the face to Katherines and Kathy's the world over. This game is a lazy, boring, and un-inspired lowest common denominator for action RPG games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leowG5WChCk No open world.. instead we get the same 45 second cave over and over and over and over.. until you beat the game at level 20 where you can mine the exciting "cathrinite ore" - Oh Boy! ...I highly doubt that anyone will want to invest that much time into this bore-fest of a game, just sayin' No Quests. No character stats. No Classes to choose from. No character appearance options. No NPCs. No Good Combat (Even tho the store pages says below that it has exciting "Souls" like combat.. .....to the developer.. Your game here is no Dark Souls. This game isn't even as good as a "bug" in Dark Souls. and mainly people... the reason this game gets the low score of a 1.5 out of 10 from me is... NO FUN! - It's bland and boring and about as fun as watching paint dry. You get the point! NOT RECOMMENDED.. Not even for a dollar. Sorry dev. Try harder to make a "fun" game instead of just focusing only on pretty assets.

The game is straightforward, with a classic dungeon slasher style feel to it. It is not over the top and has an easy to understand combat system. A clean and easy-to-use crafting system for weapons. The player character model is nice and the variety of enemies each have their own recognizable features and abilities. Fun game, good value for price. Love it so far! A great indy that I recommend.

Bland, boring, all levels look the same thanks to same rooms repeated at nauseam. Somewhere around level 7 the game becomes slog even on normal. Around level 13 the game becomes pretty much unplayable due to amount of enemies with ranged attacks and rooms with respawn. Developers, stop creating bad parodies of my favourite souls-like genre and start to test your games properly (meaning play your own games from start to end on normal difficulty before asking for our money). Players, stop recommending games without beating them. EDIT: I'm at the beginning of level 15 on normal and it's already one of the most frustrating gaming experience in last couple of years. Good work. EDIT 2: Finished the game on easy (level 15 is the last despite the game claims that there are 20 levels). One of the most frustrating and badly design games in last couple of years indeed. 1/10

P.S: Left some quick tips at the bottom if you're just looking for some help! I've never written a review on steam but I felt compelled to write one for this game because I saw this game was only reviewed by a first 15 minute youtuber and it deserves some justice. I want to start out by pointing out that it looks like this game was developed by a single person and so I will take that into account throughout my review. A "dark souls"-esque game where you are a dwarf venturing deep into a cavern straight out of a fantasy book. The game revolves around you discovering ore and crafting stronger and stronger weapons as you delve deeper into the mine. As you progress through the mine you also discover various Runes which provide some passive bonuses to help smooth the difficulty; the rune that stood out the most to me was the rune of healing which boils down to "after you deal x damage you get healed for x". Simple mechanic but really enables a more aggressive and fast paced playstyle. Let's break down the crafting options available since this is where most of your character power comes from: 7 or 8 different ores, 4 different gems, the choice of sword or hammer which each offer their own benefits, and the choice of one handed vs two handed weapons. Different ores aren't just a strict damage increase, they each offer their own unique effects which enables completely different playstyles. You can also easily switch between weapons mid combat that you crafted specifically to deal with certain threats, which is really gratifying opposed to just running one weapon and never changing until you get a statistically better weapon in every way possible. It felt great being able to try out different weapon combinations and changing up my playstyle until I was able to find one that suited me. One thing I loved about this game was how clean the animations were, both the player character and all of the monsters. The monsters have well choreographed and obvious animations for you to react to and the player has beautiful animations and satisfying rag dolls when you inevitably smash the monsters to bits. Get a two handed hammer and smash some skeletons and you'll know what I mean when you watch them viciously explode. Tagging along with the animations are the graphical effects that impressed me as well. I don't know about you guys but lightning is one of the most satisfying effects in any game for me and this game does it well. Getting a big crit and proccing a chain lightning to surge through a load of mobs (coupled with the rune of healing I mentioned before this is a damaging and sustaining powerhouse) was one of the most satisfying effects I've felt in a while. As with most "dark souls"-esque games, there is little hand holding and mistakes can be punishing but unlike Dark Souls you can save at any time so this game dodges the super frustrating replay of 30 minutes from one mistake. Big quality of life upgrade for a more casual playthrough! Overall: fantastic game for the price. The first 10 levels or so can be kind of slow but I think it is necessary as it really lets you get a grasp for the game as the difficulty certainly ramps up after that. On the bright side the levels get longer as you progress so the first 10 levels are also the shortest 10 levels and you will spend the bulk of your time in the fast paced "end-game". My suggestion? play the game for an hour or two and you'll be hooked - once I obtained stormstone ore I couldn't put the game down. Tips: Save the game before you sacrifice materials to open up chests so that you can see what is inside and if its worth sacrificing your materials! Dodging gives you invincibility frames and every attack in the game is choreographed - study the monster animations and you'll avoid plenty of unnecessary damage! Save often to reduce frustration Run without your weapon equipped to move faster and save stamina You can dismantle items and get all of your initial resources back, try plenty of different weapon combinations!
