Addicting game but too short. I think adding an endless mode will boost the playing time a lot.

Ok for its price on offer, seems quite limited in content overall, couple of units per faction, couple of hero units per faction, something just feels missing. I have also cleared everything the game has to offer in a couple of hours.... if I could do a ok rating I would

Overall:
Fun auto-battle rogue-like.
Focuses on positioning based strategy and randomized rogue-like progression.
Plays like Into the Breach if all strategies happened on the first turn.
Pros:
Strategic Variety
+ A variety of unit types offer a variety of characters to craft your squad
+ Run defining artifacts opens opportunities for powerful synergies
+ Equippable items and unit leveling allow for greater customization
Replayable
+ the randomized encounters makes each run unique
+ Factions and Heroes drive different strategies to discover
Quick Runs
+ Quick runs to immediately devise and test strategies
+ Good for picking up and getting directly into the game
Cons:
Learning Curve
- Not initially intuitive, took a good run or two before the game clicked
- tutorial could be improved
Missing some quality of life features
If you are new to the genre, it may come across as confusing at first
but I urge you to stick to it, and the game will soon show what its about
100% worth the price of admission

I've come back to add, this game has more layers and depth than I originally imagined it may be "feigning". On the flip side, the enemy formations are a little limited. There is deviation from the standard, but buy in large, there are a few standard formations you will find them in. That said, for the price point, what you are getting is more than fair from where I stand, and the developer seems to be active on the boards, and they seem to be keeping an eye on this game and keeping it in a good state.
I picked it up on a whim hoping it would be similar to Gladiator Guild Manager, and it kind of is. (Yes, that game isn't out yet, but played the prologue)
There are shops where you buy units and equipment and whatnot, and it is an auto battler. I'm not sure yet if this will actually be a deeper experience, or if it merely feigns it, but instead of just setting up your units kind of wherever on the field like in most auto battlers, there is a grid system, and the units and hud is almost set up more for a strategy games, and watching the battle play out feels a bit like watching somebody play a strategy game.
So far, GGM is still king, but is cool until that comes out. On a side note, where as GGM doesn't really explain things to you, this game will bury you in info if you want it to, the codex isn't as big as it looks, but it's not small.

This is a fun roguelike autobattler.
It's easy to pick up, but has enough depth to keep you entertained throughout the runs.
The good:
+ Straightforward UI. It is clear what does what
+ Clear, short tutorial.
+ The unit designs are cool
+ Fun node navigation
+ Combat is simple, yet satisfying
+ Easy to pick up, enough depth to keep you entertained.
+ Small price
The meh:
- It's a bit easy. I failed my first run, and then I won on my 2nd and 3rd run. I'm not sure what to do now.
- The game is very short, but it's also priced for that.

Good a solid auto-battler with clear rules and some interesting mechanics.
Art is somewhere there.
I have beat it in less than 4 hours. Totally worth it.

Outcasts of Orion is an autobattler roguelike combining a solid game loop and varied strategic potential to offer an engaging experience with much replayability. You draft from a variety of randomly presented abilities and units to craft your squad and discover unexpected synergies. The game does struggle a bit early on in conveying the appeal of its mechanic, but given some time, it reveals an underlying layer of depth that keeps you coming back. If you are a fan of either autobattlers or strategy roguelikes, this game is worth giving a shot.
------------------------------------------------------
At its core, Outcasts of Orion plays as an autobattler with positioning as the central focus. Each unit has a defined pattern of attack and behavior that can be predicted and taken advantage of. Similar to chess, it is key to know your own unit's compatibility with others and to think a few turns ahead to emerge victorious. Early parts of the game start with a basic rock, paper, scissors type of dynamic, with additional unit classes
making an appearance to add more variables for consideration.
However, the game shines brightest in its factions. Factions are a set of units that share unique traits and abilities where each faction offers a different take on existing unit classes. For example, an assassin can stealthily execute an enemy, blind and stun an enemy, or turn an enemy into an ally to swarm the field.
All are examples of how different faction can fulfill the same assassin role in differing ways. Beyond just careful positioning, there was much fun to be had in experimenting with different factions to discover unexpected synergies and exploits.
Though the game leads strong with a tight core game loop, the game does come with some areas that could be improved. Mainly, the game could benefit from a stronger tutorial as it leaves some areas unexplained. Even though I managed to pick up many aspects through trial and error, I imagine a gentle nudge in the right direction could go a long way in easing new players into the strategic potential of the game. Still, there were frequent updates by the developers that quickly addressed pain points. This gives me confidence that the developers are dedicated to continuously make the game better.
Overall, Outcasts of Orion is an engaging game with strategic depth and unexpected discoveries that has kept me coming back for more. I definitely recommend this game, and am looking forward to what more the developer has in store for the future.

Outcast of Orion is a fun little game with new and cool mechanics. The game art isn't anything crazy, but the animations are sleek and it has a 80's grunge charm to it.
The UI wasn't as clear as I'd like, but it is something that can be patched in later.
For the price I dig the experience.

Pretty low quality game. Would not recommend.
Spelling mistakes, obvious missing UI buttons. Unbalanced gameplay.
In 3rd and 4th rounds, you are just constantly clicking 30+ times to upgrade your units as you roll and buy upgrades over... and over...and over again.
Missed opportunity here. Worth about 3 hours of gameplay before it goes stale.
