A massive improvement from the first game with lots of game mechanics, new easter egss of characters, and great storytelling. Here is what I noticed: PROS: - There is an actual story now for why you are doing your job with great world building that showcases what being a "reaper" is about, with the different patrons from heaven, hell, and purgatory. - Speaking of patrons, it's pretty great to see that characters here are fleshed out more. War, Famine, and Pestilence especially since they finally have character and have a somewhat caring attitude to them throughout the playthrough of the game with their respective fields. - In comparison to the first game where you need a specific time to get a good ending, you can actually keep repeating and retrying the level again and again until you are satisfied. The repetition of the game does not hinder anything. - THE TIME LIMIT IS GONE!!! (except for Catastrophes), Simple change, but truly great to have some time to actually process all of the rules given and not feel pressured as much. - In the menu option, it SHOWS YOU the different heaven and hell signs to look for!!! This is great especially if you are have not played in a while. It gives a good visual refresher to at least the basics of what you have been told. - I like that if you (inevitably) make a mistake, it shows you exactly why it was a mistake as a note with an exclamation point at the bottom right corner. It's great to see that it shows you mistakes so that you can remind yourself what to look out for. CONS (or just nitpicks): - Maybe a small problem on my part, but when a new day starts and coffee man briefs you on the "manual", it's talking about RIGHT CLICKING on the CHARACTERS. The right clicking mechanic is fine but it made me confused at least a couple of times to where it should be found. - Just another nitpick, but it does slowly become chore to scroll past the rooms when you try to repeat a level (especially for the level 10 Catastrophe achievement) - It kind of bummed me out that your room, although great to see you can earn more money by cleaning up, is just for aesthetics. You get to see your cat, the plants you bought, your room, and some role players, but that's about it. You can click on the role players to see what they rolled in their game (d11, d1, etc.), but aside from that, nothing much. - One mini-game (from Coffeeman) was great and I wish there was a bit more because we already got it, why not use it more? Have like a daily game after each work day to either get money or something useless (like a fun kind of pause in-between after finishing the game. Overall, with the vast improvements and just some of my own nitpicks, I think the team made an astoundingly well made game that improves from the predecessor. My biggest highlight is that there is no more pressure of a clock or time to get an "A" rating! Buy this game if you liked the first game as I think this is the best of the two. I hope they make a third game!
