I didn't play very long. It just wasn't very interesting or worth it to me. At first I tried playing with a controller, but you can only move with the controller and nothing else, whereas with keyboard and mouse you can move, jump, and move the camera. There is also no pause menu and no way to exit the game that I know of, so when I got stuck falling forever after falling off a cliff in the "caverns," I had to press the windows key and close the window and restart the game. Everything is very basic, the music was ok but not very notable to me, and I didn't like what little of the story there was being told with text that represents the fox's thoughts. I played a second time and got to the pond, but had already played too long for my interests. I won't refund it as I don't care about a few bucks. It seems like it "should have" been free, but then again it's not a big deal to me. Actually, after reading the current 4 reviews of the game, I have chosen to ask for a refund, as 3 of the 4 reviews seem to me like they're just friends of the developer or something and were asked to give a thumbs up to recommending it.

This isn't even a "game". It is <10 minutes of watching a poorly animated fox run, jump, and swim (there are pretty much only 3 animations) though ~6 small maps that I would assume are free assets. It is basically someone's first experience using a game engine. The screenshots in the slide-show in the steam page are ~70% of the game. There are no puzzles or interesting platforming. It really is just move from one side of the map to the other. There is no "story". There are <20 one-sentence prompts that pop up at the bottom of the screen.
The developer really needs to be more upfront about what this is in the description...

This game is only worth your time if you like to have 100% achievement in your library since it takes only 15 mins to do so.

Otherwise, every part of this is very not worth your time. Visually it's all over the place, too bright, too dark, the skybox is horrid with the cavern just so offsetting it felt like it was made in minutes.
Settings is a volume bar... that's it
Controls are only keyboard and mouse, you can technically use a controller, just only walk around but not able to jump, turn the camera or run.
Transitions to other levels are overly jarring, simply teleporting to a different room with music cutting to the next. Effects were nonexistent to where objects just switch rather than fade or make any sort of indication that something happens. The foliage was copypasted, with no animations or any way to make them feel alive.
The writing is so simple I can write it in a sentence.
You're a fox looking for your girlfriend fox by walking from Point A to Point B.
THAT'S IT!
Subtitles are so hard to read since it's WHITE IN A BRIGHT BACKGROUND. The only time I could read it without struggle was the cavern area, which is the worst... AT LEAST I COULD KILL MYSELF BY JUMPING IN LAVA.

TLDR: It's EZ AF to get all the achievements and that's the only thing that's good about it.
... Just go play The First Tree Instead

I wanted to like this game. I wanted a relaxing game and this was on sale. Frankly it felt unfinished. Maybe there is something to it I am missing but I didn't like the camera movement or the controls and the game itself seemed very simplistic.
I did get it on sale but even so I can't suggest getting it.

This is a VERY short but sweet game. Just a fox looking for their fox friend. It was a very pretty game and super simple. Was a nice price and easy achievements.

A cute game that can be completed in about 35 minutes. I would recommend this if you are committed to supporting indie development teams as they get started.
Otherwise, this game is pretty rough around the edges. While Morning Shift has added some new mechanics (air vents, jumping, swimming), I think that HIKE felt more like a 'real' game. This feels like a demo or proof of concept.
Lost Dream is a walking simulator that follows a fox looking for a lost fox friend. You traverse a series of diverse landscapes with somewhat jarring transitions in between. You find your friend and then you are done. No points of interest or activities... just a few jumps and running to find the exit from your current area.

Despite the small price, I really would not recommend this game. For those wondering, the appeal for some about walking simulators is the sense of 'sightseeing' something interesting or beautiful, but in this game there are simply no sights to see.
Graphics
The scenery is beautiful at times but the immersion quickly wears off when you wander very far in the wrong direction, and you quickly realize you're surrounded by awkward invisible walls at all angles. I suspect that the developer simply got stock assets from a store, because in one instance you're tasked to go into this medieval castle past this river of lava and literally none of it makes sense. The one thing I did enjoy was the idling animations from the fox and the slow pace of the jumping animation.
Gameplay
There's a loading segment between sections, but notice that I didn't call it a loading screen. This is not a request to bring back loading screens, but the sudden and awkward jolt to the next area was really unpleasant and in one instance actually startled me. It's a walking sim but at times I didn't find it incredibly clear on where to go and ran into invisible walls. At one point, your destination is obscured by a bush so this makes you think the dev intended you to explore around a bit but there's nothing to explore. There's a bit of jumping, but I would hesitate to even call it platforming as it doesn't seem to have a point and it's so easy and boring that a toddler could do it.
Story
As you progress through the game, your goal is communicated to you through soft white text at the bottom of the screen. This is the fox's internal monologue. My little niece could've come up with a better story because the story here actually does the game a disservice. One can barely read the fox's words at the bottom of the screen due to the font color and they just become annoying and repetitive. How many different ways can the fox say "I wonder where my friend is." The constant text at the bottom of the screen actually keeps this game from feeling relaxing as I had to squint to read it half the time.
This is a bad game
I simply don't see anyone finding value or enjoyment in this game except for those who like to take screenshots maybe. But it's difficult to pose the fox and there's no photo mode - in fact, you can't even go into the settings menu once you've started the game so if the audio is too loud, you're outta luck.
This game is probably a 2/10 for me overall. Don't waste your time on this crudely put together game that should've been free and even if it were, I still wouldn't recommend it.

This game should have been free. It very much feels like a "proof of concept".
The total playtime I got from it is 12 minutes. In that time we get to visit a few environments that feel either too small or too big. Especially the "cave level" feel like Xen from HL.
The story, while sweet, is a bit too simplistic to be of much value. The premise is solid but the pacing kills it. After very slow start, the ending is over in a minute. And keep in mind that the playtime of this game is 12 minutes. Also - there is no finale. The game just abruptly stops. It felt really anticlimactic.
What I missed the most though, its the sound of steps, wind, rustle of grass. Ambience really. There is none.
A game that feels like a proof of concept and as such should have been free.

This is an extremely short game (30mins max) and one that should have been free. Definitely buy on sale.
Your lady fox has been captured by humans and you have to rescue her. This game has overtones of The First Tree, but that game is far, far superior in execution, story and game play.
This is not a first game by this developer and it comes across as very rushed. Graphics are extremely basic. Music was piano and light orchestral and quite pleasant.
Some people got stuck in the first area as they couldn't find a way out. I just fluked it! Transition into other areas is very jerky as you teleport. Music cuts out suddenly.
Story is very simple and the white captions make it extremely difficult to read. Black or another darker colour would have been better. No special effects as the screen just fades when something happens.
Played it twice in case I missed something. No other animals, humans or life is around. No birds singing or fish in the pond. To me, that is sheer laziness not enhancing the environment.
Suitable for children. Pleasant experience, but far too short. A neutral recommendation. 5/10.
