Grid- & turn-based puzzle game gets a sequel
Smart Moves 2 continues the puzzle tactics that the original started. Still, your task is to open all the treasure chests on the map. Gameplay is largely the same as before.
Like before, your enemies move right after you move, hit, or interact with something, and there's no turn-skipping so don't get stuck. Checkpoints help with retries. They are particularly useful when the level is large: while originally the maps were constrained to one screen, the sequel introduces big sliding maps.
New enemies include flowers (re-skinned normal mobs), lizard men (likewise), and armored bandits that need two hits to kill. Everything else from the original is included.
The eight worlds each have 8 levels each, enough for a couple of hours of puzzling around. I felt that the sequel was a bit easier than the original though.
I was bummed to find that you can also skip levels by pressing F9. That makes it trivial to "complete" the game.
Technical stuff
- There's only fullscreen.
- Sounds and music can be turned off but not volume-slided.
Short sequel
My complete playtime to 100% was only 1.5 hours. It would've been way faster to use the cheat code, of course.
It was still fun and I recommend it if you liked the original. It's almost as cheap, too (on sale 0,79e at its cheapest on Steam Store, at the time of typing).
