The game is fun, and I love the main gameplay mechanic which is the colour change. For someone as forgetful as me it was a nice challenge.
I like how every chapter has its own little gimmick (albeit some are better than others) and I have enjoyed most of the bosses. The latter are, again, mostly well done and all have four HP which is just enough health for the battles to not be exhausting. My favourites are the boss of Chapter 6, the boss of Chapter 9 and the
first
boss of Chapter 10.
The boss of Chapter 6 has a very fun idea behind it that subverts the previously estabished boss kill method a little bit and the boss of Chapter 9 presents a fun jumping puzzle of sorts — it's trial and error, but eventually you figure out all the timings and become more aware of your jumping capabilities. More on the
first
boss of Chapter 10 later.
Now, to list some of my criticisms:
1. There's no level selection, only chapter selection. Because of this, you can't even ragequit the hard levels — if it's anything but the first level of the chapter, you'll have to replay the whole chapter from the beginning. And god forbid you press ESC during a level, thinking you can just pause — you get sent to the menu.
2. Level 49 is a violation of human rights. It's something you would wish upon your worst enemy. Has anyone playtested it?
Why can the two adjacent cannons fire shots parallel to each other?? Why does the pink lane cannon have such a narrow timing that losing even half a second gets you killed??? Why are there so few openings in the pink lane in the first place???? I swear, half the pink lane gameplay is dying to side by side shots/shots you missed the timing on/shots you took head on because you couldn't jump because you got stuck under the platform by one pixel and the other half is running back and forth from the shots because you can't tell which one is THE one. Cherry on top is when you finally get the pink lane done and die in another one because of the same issues because they exist for every cannon on Level 49, it's just that the pink lane is the longest so they can shine the brightest there.
3. Some bosses are just wack. Specifically, the boss of Chapter 5 and the boss of Chapter 8, as well as the one I actually like — the
first
boss of Chapter 10.
The boss of Chapter 5 has one of those classic Slime Crown Phase Fours where it changes colour every half a second. However, because it also sprays colour droplets, it becomes incredibly unfair and it even caused me to drop the game and come back much later.
The boss of Chapter 8 is just... weird. Sure, the chapter gimmick are the phase-through platforms, but this boss removes the main mechanic out of the equation, not to mention the incredibly RNG cogs. It would've been much better to see a boss that makes you worry about your colour shifting as you jump down the platforms, maybe a chase-style boss where you have to lead it into the purple droplets/same-coloured platforms or something while minding your own colour.
The same gimmick issue comes into play with the
first
boss of Chapter 10. What are those glue droplets?? Maybe it's my extended break from the game talking but I don't remember such a thing ever popping up in any level. Sure, it's easy to grasp and it's actually very enjoyable, but the lack of it in the main game is plain weird. Again, if it was present and I forgot, my apologies.
All in all, I actually love the game, and I would love it even more if the issues I mentioned in points 1 and 2 were fixed. And even in its current state I recommend it to anyone who wants to play a short and fun platformer. Even at its worst (Level 49) I still had just above 300 deaths, so for more capable gamers it can be even less.
All the best to the developer!
Edit: yeah, replayed the first four chapters, glue WAS a thing my b.

What a delight. It might not seem like much, but it's a very well crafted puzzle game - great design and pacing, and even some simple yet cute music that changes every 5 levels.
The deal is simple. You can cycle through 4 colours, and touching something that is not your colour kills you. Your objective is to absorb all the slimes in the room or defeat the boss. How else are you going to prove you're a good slime king?
There are 10 chapters, each consisting of 4 levels and a boss. Every chapter introduces some new mechanic - the levels teach you, challenge you, and then the boss tests your understanding. I found myself beating the entire game almost in one sitting because of how pleasant the entire experience was.
That said - I couldn't get the controller to work, but that's fine, I got by with the keyboard. Also some levels are tough. Chapter 2 is for some reason the hardest by far, and some bosses also feel harder than they should have been. But that didn't stop me from beating the game rather quickly.
Don't make the mistake of thinking that this is some amateur stuff. I've played another of this dev's games, Snake Pit, and that one is quite good as well. I recommend them both!
