Nevermore is a very charming roguelike. The combat system has lots of moves and is very well designed. I'm 2 hours in and I still didn't beat the first boss. This game is hard. You can make your life easier using all the unlockable card boosts though. A nice start. I'll follow the development.

it was alright its not that bad but it was kinda boring after awhile the worlds feel empty and there is nothing more to do then follow a path and its kinda annoying to restart from the beginning when you die maybe, add more nps, thing to do and more things to see

The game is very fun and the art is nice. Definitely recommend :) My only issue is the "go to main menu button" being so close to WASD, especially since it doesn't ask for confirmation and doesn't save beforehand. Not a huge issue just a little annoying. Other then that the game is good. ^^

Even though the game is small and quiet easy to finish, I do find the replayability to be fun and engaging, the game has a good future it just needs more content and updates. For now the only negative thing I can say is the balance issue, the beginning of the game can be quiet difficult especially for new players. The controls are a bit weird but once you get use to it, it can be a fun. Update: The game has a bug that cancels out some upgrades. What I mean by this is the perk system within the game, in some of my runs I notice that when I upgrade the magic tier it increases the mana pool of your character, but then I had runs where upgrading the magic tier does not increase the mana pool. So far that's one of the bugs I notice, not a game breaking bug, but still frustrating to see. Also for a game called the chamber door it lacks any "chamber door" to open you just simply walk through levels, the game almost has no story either, I didn't notice the "story" or it really has none. Also the game just drops you in once you start it there is no intro at all, but there is a tutorial and after that that's it you just start playing there is no intro to the game and it's story. Other than those cons I see the game IS fun there's some combo moves you can perform and discovering those moves all by yourself is fun, the game has some really good potential it just needs more time for updates and content.

Snappy combat, and fun game play loop. Could use some shortcuts to skip earlier sections once you progress further. Running back through three biomes to get to the final boss after dying is frustrating. It has no story to speak on, so the hub area and characters seem very lifeless. The whole game is focused solely on the combat which isn't a bad thing but the game is shallow because of it. Upgrades are nice and using monster drops to add to attacks is fun. The whole game was made on a $2k budget by 1 person so it's great considering that. Beat it in about 2 hours and I'd recommend it if you're looking for some mindless hack and slash.

I don't typically write reviews, but hey I wanna help out. This game has some really interesting core gameplay mechanics. It's really really short, and the fact that you're upgrades glitch out when you quit out is aggravating, but I can look past that. This definitely isn't the best game of all time, not by a longshot but it's a neat aesthetic, the sound design is mint, and the core is dope. If the dev drops some updates to fix the glitch with your upgrades, and maybe add a little bit more gameplay, it could easily get into the higher tier. As is, I give it a 7/10, very mint.

Possibly the simplest easiest recommendation imaginable. You, a blade, a grappling hook, and an entire evil land's worth of things that need extermination. Perhaps a bit steep on the price side, but excellent production value for its development, and the flip-out spastic mania of the thing means it's got a special happy placement in the brain's fast twitch endorphin factory. Similar to Olija in terms of appeal, and other respects as well. The developer's got some interesting ideas about how to put an RPG together - will be watching for future projects.

Best hack and slash game I've played in a long time! Very fun and intuitive. Perfect for you that is looking to spend a couple of hours playing a fun retro-like game for a very fair price! Recommended without a doubt!

Full playthrough here: https://youtu.be/XNmXHdCPeTI This is a REALLY fun to play game. I do think the title left me wanting a bit more in the way of plot since it's Edgar Allan Poe inspired, but the only edgar allan poe thing is the crow aesthetic it seems like to me. Overall though it plays beautifully who doesn't want to unlock enemies abilities that give you new attacks and beat said enemies to death with their own abilities that feel great as you unlock them. Some Suggestions possibly adding a survival room with waves of MASS AMOUNTS of monsters after the final boss possibly with a leaderboard, achievements would be fantastic, a few more upgrades not monster based, but your regular upgrade one I would have really liked to see is a great magnetism for items that drop so I don't have to run around and grab them after slaughtering a room. Granted I know he's one creator, I'm not faulting the game for it not being in there just giving suggestions. The game is very short right now, but I love that he has a board that posts when he's planning updates and he's given us a time line that's fantastic most game creators claim the game will be updated and never do at least we know when to expect an update.

Nevermore is your usual hack and slash that does everything just right. Everything from the movement to the combat! More specifically, the usage of the hook allows you to throw projectiles back, pull enemies, and fly towards them. Combining the hook with your attacks just feels so enjoyable, quick, and just overall easy. However, your enjoyment is very short-lived due to the lack of content it currently has, but it is an early access so you just have to be patient. The game also offers booster packs and a level up system for stats that will boost your damage, health, or magic damage. The booster packs once equipped will grant you unique attacks associated with the mob from the card but once you have unlocked all of them, the game will be significantly easier (I suggest playing the game without booster packs after if you want a challenge). A couple of things that would be interesting to see would be some implementation of a passive or ability that allows you to pick up loot without having to walk over it (I found myself ignoring a lot of loot due to having to walk over each individual orb and bone), some cosmetic items or changes depending on the booster card active, and maybe even implementation of different classes with different abilities to add variation. Overall, the game is extremely enjoyable and I will most definitely find myself playing a lot more once they add more content. I highly recommend purchasing this game but suggest possibly holding out until more content is released.
