An incredibly fun, easy to pick up and enjoyable party game, perfect for game nights with friends over discord or local multiplayer! Fantastic pixel art and UI design and lots of very cute robo-hats to boot!

Only played a few matches but the game feels great. The classic 8-bit art style is joyful and keeps the game from taking itself too seriously. Really looking forward to the network multiplayer coming soon to play with some friends. Easily worth every penny on sale.

Great fun game, easy to pick up and rounds quickly become frantic and fast paced races to get a tactical edge over your opponent. The AI is clever and feels more or less like a real player, I've yet to play this game against another person but its a great couch multiplayer game in a sea of online-online multiplayer. Will definitely break it out at parties. Highly recommended.

Fantastic music and art, and easy to play. Only got a chance so far to play vs. AI, but I'm excited to play with more friends.

Looking for something fun, new, and interesting? Stop what you're doing and pick up 'Scrapshoot,' this awesome, newly-released indie game from Pyrebug Studios!
It's a competitive multiplayer 'Plants vs. Zombies'-like experience that has you adopt the role of post-apocalyptic robots programmed to engage in junkyard-based fisticuffs. 🤖
I was fortunate enough to try multiple development builds and can confirm that the final product is fast-paced, engaging, has great flow, and looks wonderful. Even better, there are *dozens* of different hats to unlock for your robot avatars!
DOZENS. OF. HATS.
Multiple people can play using the same device *or* online via Remote Play Together. If you're looking for solo play, it comes equipped with a challenging AI that can help you refine your skills.
If you love old school 'couch competition,' do yourself a favor and nab 'Scrapshoot' ASAP! You'll be so glad you did. ^_^

So far I've played a fair number of matches, and can tell enough that it justifies its price and then some.
The core premise is easy to pick up, and I was able to understand what was happening less than a minute into the first match. You pick up scraps, and bring them to your side of the field to activate robots that travel across a lane. The bots then have to fight their way through the other team's bots and reach the other end of the lane to damage your opponent.
At a glance, it may seem pretty straightforward. Pick up scrap resources and items, then lay out which lanes to focus on. But the game quickly moves into unpredictability, which forces the player to stay engaged while making it difficult to completely control the battle. There may be a lot of scrambling just to keep up. Having only played against the AI, it's hard to judge how much *more* chaotic a multiplayer match would be, but it's a compelling experience. Strategies exist for how & when to collect/use your resources, and with enough experience you can plan out how to properly adjust to what the situation requires. You can't really hoard them, and it works out for the better because you always have to contribute to the next phase of battle.
Map-wide effects appear at random, and contribute really well to the game flow. My personal favorite is the lightning effect, where your bots on standby may suddenly be activated without having to spend any resources. It fundamentally changes the pace of the battle, and properly capitalizing on it can turn a match around.
Music is snappy, fun, and blends together with the visual presentation without coming off as "on the nose" or generic. It's been a few years since Persona 5 invented the genre of "jazz", and Scrapshoot's OST mixes it with several other styles that give each map a distinct flavor. You might not expect some of the songs, considering the art style, but it does fit cleanly into whatever vibes the matches end up having.
Similarly, the art of the game is retro and fun, with a good choice of color palettes and fun details in the background maps. Individual objects are easy to pick out from the crowd, and small touches boost the user experience without getting in the way. And as far as user experience goes, sound effects and subtle feedback tricks give an excellent feel to your actions.
I will leave a few potential improvements for the dev team to consider, for improving on an already great experience:
1. The only issue I have with the main menu is that it can be hard to tell which button is currently highlighted, since the outline blends into the background a bit. Similarly, the hat menu seems to have an issue where my input doesn't change the hat sometimes.
2. If possible for a smaller dev team, having multiple AI difficulties would be great. The existing AI is incredibly challenging, which is great for a trial-by-fire learning experience but also pretty tough. My victories really came within a hair's width.
3. Continuing on the AI, I did have one instance where the enemy AI seemed to stop for a while. Not sure what caused it, but I think it was a bug, and unfortunately not the Pyre kind. Hasn't reappeared in any matches since then.
4. Accessibility-wise, it already seems pretty well-designed for colorblindness. I'm not colorblind myself, but I have a tool that simulates the visuals to show whether an image works well with it. It's a good way to test visuals before recommending to friends who are colorblind. I'm happy to report that it looks great under most settings, except monochromatic colorblindness seems a bit tough to differentiate for some things. I couldn't say what the best solution is, but maybe some sort of option to add outlines for the robots, with a different grayscale tone for each team? idk really, but I do really like the accommodations that are already built into the art.
All in all, definitely recommend.

Scrapshoot is a unique mix of tower defense and real time tactics that allows you create unique and dynamic rounds and has great replayability. The unique mix of tower defense and real time tactics makes for some fast-paced and dynamic games where you're going to be scrambling to counter your enemy and events in the arena that changes how you play the game and tip the scales to one side or another. You can also modify your round to enable/disable certain game rules to create new ways to play the game and adds a layer of unpredictability. Its worth your time with it being easy to pick up for new players and incredibly fun with friends or by yourself.

It's a party game, pretty much sums it up!
It's a pretty unique game and I could definitely see people trying to master how to play the game best. Pretty cheap and I could see people getting a good amount of use out of this game. I'll keep it stashed for when a few friends come over to play :)
