Looks really good on the reverb g2. Also REALLY appreciate that it actually does things unique to VR like using your other hand to move objects or collect coins.

PROS: Funny story with lots of movies references + Different perspectives + Bosses fight + Great musics, sound and explotions + A bunch of stages with different thematic + Interaction with the enviroment
CONS: Sometimes it's a bit mess with all the shoots and ships, the scroll that doesn't stop and at the same time controling the sphere + The 2D side perspective is a bit close in some levels + The final boss is very dissaponiting

Retro Gaming In A VR World
2076 Midway Multiverse is yet another hit from Ivanovich Games. They took another classic retro arcade game and made it into an amazing VR experience. This time its the classic side scrolling shooter game, like Super R-Type. With Ivanovich Games special VR immersions, making it a must play VR experience.
2076 Midway Multiverse continues where 1976 - Back to Midway leaves off. New story, new mode of play, new experience. Like their other games, this one does not disappoint. You will have those wow moments all over again. The story is good, the gameplay is spot on, and the VR world is mind blowing.
Like 1976 - Back to Midway, the game offers multiple VR immersion modes, and the workshop to upgrade your ship. The side scrolling aspect of this game is just brilliant. You will have all the classic fun of the retro games, but feel like you are inside the arcade machine. The world and effects will take your breath away. With three different difficulty levels, you can play a nice relaxing game, or go for the hardcore retro gameplay. Which ever you pick, you are in for a blast from the past in some of the best VR gameplay I have played.
If you are a fan of the retro side scrolling space shooters, looking for next level VR experiences, this game is a must play. There are plenty of levels, achievements, and upgrades to keep you playing over and over again. The action feels great, and the worlds will just blow you away.

My favourite Ivanovich game yet. It's effectively a sci-fi side-scrolling (mostly) sequel to 1976, and evokes old school shooters like Gradius/Nemesis (complete with bolder spewing volcanoes).
I wasn't a fan of the "immersive zone" first person sections in 1976, but the feeling of the controls have been improved this times around, and I enjoyed those sections way more.
If you still don't like those parts, there's also an arcade mode that takes you through the same levels, but omits the cockpit sequences, though you still get some behind view sections (mainly for boss battles).
Definitely give this a shot if you're a fan of retro shooters - there's also a free demo, so there's no reason not to!

The EPITOME of what VR shooters should be, nuff' said. The first foray was a homage to the classic 80s hit "1942", the second Operation WarCade, was a celebration of what the Mounted gun shooters gave us in the late 80s and now we have a proper Homage to the classic Japanese bullet-hell shooters from the decade after (the 90s)
This series does EXACTLY what it originally set out to do. It puts us RIGHT THERE, INSIDE THE CABINET. You can't top that immersion.
So far they've brought us SKULL FIRST, directly into the oasis.... this series is Perfect

Don't let the low amount of reviews fool you.
This game is the most fun I've had in VR and it is definitely the best shoot em up in VR. Ivanovich Games did an amazing job creating something that has really fun gameplay, great graphics, & good sound and music.
There are 2 modes. The story mode gives you more interaction with the environment using both hands.
It also has immersion modes that change your perspective to 1st person for brief moments.
There is also a separate arcade mode they included. I absolutely love it because Its a faster mode that takes out the immersion sections & feels like a classic shoot em up all the way thru. I enjoy trying to beat my scores in this mode vs playing in the story one.
I'm so glad Ivanovich Games made 2076 and I hope they make another one like this in the near future.
Pros
1) The design of all the boss battles were very fun and creative.
2) Each level has its own theme. They are all very different and fun to play. The game stays fresh from beginning to end.
3) Each boss is super unique and well designed. The level 11 boss from arcade had a very cool perspective up close (ball character). More bosses need this perspective! They give you that classic feel from old school shoot em ups.
4) 2076 has a great presentation from the beginning all the way to the end, with Dr. Novichiva narrating throughout.
5) Lots of ingame references & themes to famous movies such as Star Wars & Back to the Future
Changes I would make
1) I wish the 3rd person sections lasted much longer. They were SO GOOD. For brief moments, it felt like playing a Star Fox game in VR. I could literally play a whole game like this in this perspective.
2) All of the bosses, especially the final ones were very easy to defeat. I wish each of them were more difficult & had more stages to them to destroy. As you deal damage to the bosses, their strategies should change as well to keep it challenging.
3) The game did feel easy throughout. The difficulty should ramp up while still being able to retain 3-5 lives.
4) 2076 needs more weapons and ships included to add more variety & replayability. In other SCHUMPS, they have much more weapons to choose from.
5) Even though you upgrade your ship with ingame currency earned, I barely noticed any changes to the strength of the ship. It felt the same throughout the whole game.
6) The levels themselves felt a little short. It would be nice if they were longer.
7) add more levels to 2076! The game was over too soon.
8) I was not a fan of the 1st person immersion modes. It just felt like passing time and weren't very fun. It also slowed down the pace of the game. I prefer more comfortable VR games & the 1st person view makes me nauseous at times.
9) A 2 player co op mode would have been fun so I could play with family & friends.
10) The puzzles in the Story mode were okay (clearing a path so you could move forward). I would adjust them in a way so the pace doesn't slow down too much. I didn't like how it stopped completely.
11) A suggestion to help increase visibility. I would also ask them to make a non VR mode so that way people who don't have VR headsets can also play it. I noticed some of the popular VR games also have a flatscreen mode which tends to help alot.
This game is screaming for more content and levels. You'll have a blast playing this.
I put together some video clips so you can see it as well.

It was fun when it worked, but controls sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, and I'm talking about the normal VR controllers that you're supposed to use. It was much worse trying to use a joystick or xbox controller. It also was a bummer you couldn't map any of the controls so you are stuck with the default. I've returned the game, but if they decide to fix the controls and add more controller support, then I'll probably buy it again.

UPDATE (cuz the Game was updated)
The latest update fixes all of the problems mentioned in my review below. No longer are you tasked with controlling the ship with one hand, and the orb-thing in the other. No longer do you need to have an eye on either side of your head to keep track of both.
The only downside is that the update seems to have sacrificed the in-cockpit - first-person view (I could be wrong - and often am!). This is a bit of a shame *but* the devs have wisely delivered this update as an optional/additional mode - so, you can still launch into the madness of the original. Thinking about it, this gives the game an enormous amount of content - and it was by no means short on content anyway. But now, you can play through the new mode from start to finish - then do the same in the (more difficult) original mode. Fantastic value for money!
This is now the studio's best game, and a must buy for players who like a bit of retro fun brought to life by the magic of VR.
A Solid recommendation.
[original review below - remember, my issues with the game are now resolved!]
The first game I bought from this team was Warcade - a really fun game (still is), but the graphics were pure ass. It is a testament to the gameplay that even with these crude graphics - I still play it.
The next game was Touring Karts - still a pretty good cart racer (and better after a bit of post-release tweaking). The most obvious thing to me was just how far the graphics had improved.
Next up (for me) was 1976 Back to Midway - by this point, it is clear that the studio was sinking all of it's profits into hiring graphic artists. To me, this is still their top game - it looks fantastic, and the gameplay is really tight and solid.
So, pretty excited for this game. On the plus side - there is another big bump in graphics. This is the most graphically ambitious game from the team to date. Really - it looks so beautiful.
However - the gameplay has come loose at the seams on this one. Too many ideas crammed in at one time There is just too much going on in multiple directions. For example, I am moving crates around with my right hand, while the ship in my left hand is totally out of site and just crashing into the nearest obstacle. To play this game, you really need to be some kind of a fish - with an eye on either side of your head! A minute of this and you are thrown into a new perspective for a few seconds, and then into yet another - by this time, I have no idea what I am doing and am left just dizzy and confused. What was a fun mechanic in the previous games, is just jarring here.
So, why the thumbs up?
Mainly because it is such a great game to look at - so much so, that I will continue to go in and see if it is humanly possible to complete stage three (where my craft just keeps banging into a crate until I loose all lives).
Also, others may get more out of the gameplay, and may be better at multitasking than I am. - and they may well be blessed with eyes on either side of their heads - so, that wold work.
I am also hoping for a post-release patch that makes it more playable. Something that would bring back the sense of knowing what the hell you are doing - that still makes 1976 the superior game.
I don't want to sound so negative for a team who have bought so many great games to VR - a team where I really look forward to what their next release will be.... A team I love goddamit. I really hope that the next game continues the great formula they have established, and keeps to the very high graphical standard they have achieved here - but guys - less speed in the coffee next time - huh?

I loved 1976, but 2076 feels so much better than 1976. The Graphics are really great (a video cannot transport how good this looks in VR), and the Gameplay has so much R-Type vibes plus Hand-Interaction with the envirnoment that is only possible in VR. The Immersion Zones feel great too (switching from sidescrolling to a Cockpit-Perspective).At the moment of writing i am stuck at the endboss of level 2, the traffic kills me everytime. Maybe i have to practice more, or is it too much traffic? ;) As a guy in the 50s who grown up with the Oldschool Arcade Games this was a Nobrainer to me.. 10/10
