Must purchase for people who enjoy cooperation games! It's amazing and addicting--went through the first map in the first sitting. Definitely needs a lot of teamwork. Just wish my partner wouldn't kill us both all the time ahah

The game works well on PC with 2 controllers. The point where the game didn't work for us was when the chasing levels started. Those can be fun for good gamers, but for people who aren't so adept they are just frustrating. The rest of the time a good player can compensate for a weaker player, but not while being chased. The chasing levels should really be optional, like a feature that happens on replay or if difficulty is set harder. Graphics are necessarily simple for a indie game like this, but well executed. Edit: We didn't make it far enough to get to the story apparently, so I withdraw that part of this review. The chasing levels deterred us. Compared to other cooperative platforming games it's a nice entry but not essential. Trine still does it best for spectacular visuals, The Cave is best for humor and characters, Unraveled 2 has better graphics and interesting game mechanics, Rayman legends is inventive and fun, Never Alone has a story and characters, and Shift Happens is a fun physics based indie. This slots below those games and is pretty with well thought out level design. I suggest the developer find a comic book artist to partner with on their next effort, and please make timed play an optional / advanced feature in coop play!

I had a great time playing this awesome puzzle platformer game using two controllers in coop mode. Sometimes it can be challenging, but still very enjoyable and a lot of fun. Even when you die in a game, it still feels rewarding and encourages you to give it another try. I want to give a shoutout to the developers for their excellent level design. The checkpoints are incredibly helpful, and it doesn't feel like a burden to repeat some parts of the game. Well done! This game is one of the few that seamlessly works with controllers, eliminating the need for extensive configuration. I highly recommend giving it a try. I am looking forward to a potential sequel.

It is really sad that this game stays relatively unnoticed. When we started this game we though it was released like a few days ago because of only few reviews posted. But honestly this is the greatest co-op game we've ever played, it's a great combination of precise pure platforming, puzzling quests and pure joy of achievement of goals together. The good thing is that both characters are equal in terms of a gameplay and the only way to win is to support and be patient :) Really, after Ascendum we started Unravel Two and, despite the nice visuals, the gameplay itself, the setting, the variability of levels, tasks and mechanics are absolutely incomparable. We will miss our nights with Ascendum! So, we wish this game be appreciated as it deserves to!

Great puzzle game with fun mechanics. The solo game play seems difficult at first but once you start to get a feel for handling both of them at the same time and also understand the objective of the levels, it becomes fun and easy quickly!

I played through this game twice, once by myself, and once with a friend. Both times were a blast! This puzzle-platformer makes excellent use of the two character mechanic. Having the characters be as simple to control as they are is genius for needing to either double task or cooperate. I loved my time with Ascendum, and I'm sure you will too.

Great game, it is interesting that some levels are hidden until a "key" is obtained later in the game.

I've just played for 2 hours but it's more awesome than I could've thought when I watched the caecus's devlogs, excelent puzzle/platformer, it starts easy just to get you used to control both characters at the same time (you use both sticks, but it also supports a keyboard, which must be real tough to do using all of your fingers, a controller is a must here), but very quickly it gets more and more challenging (btw I'm going solo, but getting a friend to play with makes me think this game must be extremely fun), also the mechanics and ways to move through each level get more clever and dynamic, it doesn't get boring or repetitive because it's adding more elements to each level. In some levels you're just trying to figure out how to use the platforms to move forward, in others you have to move fast while trying to control both characters before one of them dies, then when you thought it was just platforms suddenly you... well not trying to spoil everything here, but ascendum really surprised me, and I'm sure I barely scratched its surface in just 2 hours, definitely going for the 100% in this game, what a nice and big surprise this is, thank you and hats off to caecus.

My friend and I played this and beat it in 8 hours, I do wish there were brightness sliders and more graphics control, but overall had a good time. This game's puzzles aren't anything too difficult if you take your time to figure them out, but my partner kept failing the platformer parts, so it did make me rage a bit xD, but I'm happy with what we got for the price we paid using remote play together and no problems other than not knowing how to use Keyboard and controller.
