'Faircroft's Antiques: Home for Christmas' was my foray into this genre. I was inspired by the Game Grumps playing it for a few episodes and I was looking for a way to feel more in the Christmas spirit in a place that does not look much like Christmas. I am certain that I moved through the game slowly compared to others with a sharper eye, but it did keep my attention.
The overarching story of Mia and her friend coming home for Christmas added a nice human touch to the game. However, the story did seem like it was only 60-80% complete in several parts and the peak of the game was disappointing in my opinion. Overall, the story is a net-positive to the game though. There is a short follow-up after Christmas which is sort of anti-climatic but has a nice 'community coming together' vibe to it.
The game accomplishes what it sets out to do - be a classic spot the image in the picture game with an entertaining story to make it more than just a set of puzzles. It's nice to play a few weeks before Christmas. Or whenever you feel like it.

Nice blend of scenes, objects well hidden in plain sight, and an additional minigame in each of the 20 chapters (this is the CE version).
Good story, with a lot of dialogue bubbles (you must click to get through); characters a bit grumpy at first, but the fetive mood will take over.
This is the 3rd game in the "Faircroft's Antiques" series ("Treasures of Treffenburg" was the 1st, "The Heir of Glen Kinnoch" was 2nd); not required to play the first games, but I suggest you do (you'll meet characters from this game and they are good games!)

The HOP scenes are interesting and clever. As in all the Faircroft Antique games there is a story to follow--the conversations can get long-winded but you can click through them. The mini puzzles are good...so all in all an enjoyable game if you like this genre.
