This is a fun little solitaire game that blends poker hands and a WWII theme. It's very easy to learn even if you've never played poker before. The power up cards add a bit more strategy to the game. I've been playing it between my Zoom meetings and have played through the campaign twice. Definite recommend.

This is a great new way to use the mechanics of Poker with lots of variety and tactical thinking needed. The difficulty ramps up nicely so that you can really feel the excitement of victory! Also, there's a nice use of the Wilhelm scream...

Dull, and the only thing "Battle of Britain" about it is (part) of the artwork. You just make poker hands, match them up to beat the other side's poker hands, and then sit and wait for some animations of planes shooting and stuff like that. That's it. Graphics are awful, and feel like someone has grabbed a bunch of resources from various parts of the internet, and cobbled them together, particularly the pilot artwork. One pilot will be an attractive, semi-realistic looking depiction of a woman, and the next might be some terrible cartoony looking person. There's no consistency. (I'm not even going to go into the diversity and feminization going on with that here either) A lot of that would be forgivable if the actual gameplay was more entertaining, but it is not. Refunded.

Some interesting ideas like the bonus cards of the observer corps to reveal the opponent's hands and the ack-ack to destroy some of their cards, along with Stukas removing some of the places you can play cards. But the pace of the game is a bit slow and it's a bit long for what it is. The graphics are a bit odd, having women pilots (for example) during the Battle of Britain. Sure, the RAF had women in WWII, but they weren't front-line fighter pilots in combat. And the person giving the RAF briefing looks like a Gestapo agent. Weird. OK for killing some time but doesn't seem to have long-term legs.

Super fun card game with an excellent theme and graphics! You try to build the four best hands as cards are revealed one at a time. These will go against the enemie's four preconstructed hands. You mostly know what you have to beat, but the enemy can have hidden cards or special cards. Well, you get special cards two. When you make your four best hands, you choose which of your hands goes against which enemy hand. If there are hidden cards, you take a chance. Sometimes putting your best hand will help. Sometimes you put your worst hand there so that you can at least win the other hands. Your call. All cards are revealed, and the best hand wins! Playing the game multiple times unlocks special cards for you to use in other games, and there is a puzzle at the end which gets pieces unlocked. Plenty of game here, and I have only just started... Personally, I am hoping for the RAF to win. Again.

Great variation of Poker built around the Battle of Britain. its a good challenge without relying on gimmicks. the Secret Cards offer a unique way to play around different challenges and help you overcome obstacles. The scaling difficulty over the three stories remove the need for different AI levels and help with any learning curve. As someone who has trouble remembering the priority of different poker hands, I appreciate that there's a button to show those. Each round presents its own unique challenge! Love it!

Admittedly I have an addiction to card games. So this game is probably a bad influence on my life choices. If you are like me, and can play solitaire on your computer for hours, then this is the poker card game for you. Enjoy, and game in safety, as your pets should be let out occasionally.

This is a great little game. The basic concept is easy to pick up and it's got just enough strategy to keep it interesting without being too involved. It's really fun to see the variations possible with the basic game of poker. It's a smart design. Getting a full 21 star victory is tough--I haven't got there yet! But doing well isn't anything like impossible. I think my favourite thing about it is that when I'm busy, I can do this game in little bites between other things I'm doing. Full disclosure: I know the developer (as a gaming friend, not a professional colleague)--but I wouldn't have left a review if I didn't think the game was worth playing! I've really enjoyed it!

The core mechanic of assembling poker hands and matching them up is simple but very engaging. It's fun to try and maximize you odds, or make the best of a bad break. Feels like the solitaire games on windows, in a good way. The art style is unique. It has a pulp-comics vibe that you don't see that much these days. I'm not much of a WWII buff, but I imagine a fan of that history would really dig the aesthetic of this game. Overall, this is a nice game to kill time with, and has a very accessible learning curve. A perfect game to gift a relative who may be new to games.

I am new to Steam and new to poker. Poker Squadrons is not only an intuitive interface, it is super fun! It reminds me of solitaire in a way and has the same relaxing effect. I love how you can play for 5 minutes or an extended period of time and be able to come back to where you left off. Overall great game and I look forward to seeing what else Purple Island releases!
