This game is a ton of fun if you enjoy Black Ops 3 style zombies. I've only played solo so far, but I pulled off a round 103 solo round on the first map.

Highly recommend if you have peeps to play with, every game is so much more fun with communication to share the stress/joy.
Like literally every other review says, it's highly reminiscent of the more complex COD Zombie levels around the black ops/black ops 2 era. Fun gunplay, the enemy variety makes for good strategizing being required, and the upgrade build paths are fun to explore although they can be mastered quickly.

Has a feel that is different than any of the other 'horde mode' games I play (LFD2; COD; Killing Floor; Darktide). It feels less realistic than something like COD - where you need to be very accurate with your shots, and you will die instantly. It's hard to explain, check the DEMO. This is what I've been going to at night when I just wanna get some kills in for 30 min or so, and don't want to get too sweaty.
It's not a perfect game. But, with them adding so many options for custom games - you can really craft the exact experience you are looking to have. Now if I could just find a group...

Does a lot of things better than modern COD Zombies at a fraction of the price. There's a few minor bugs but not enough to detract from the enjoyment I've had playing this. If you like older COD Zombies, you'll probably love this. They've also got a great monetisation strategy. You won't find any paid battlepasses here or maps for $30 each. It's all included in the base game bar a few cosmetics and even then, the best ones are earned in game rather than paid. More games should be like this one.

A good attempt at a horde shooter, but with how enemies scale, how samey the weapons all feel, and how obtuse some quests can be I can't recommend it. There are some cool ideas here and there, but it's not quite at a level of polish and fun for me.

I really like the idea of this game. The miracle system and the variety of guns make it super fun to try out different builds and actually feel like you're working toward something cool as you go through the map. The limited-time events before a mini boss spawns are a nice touch too, they keep things exciting. Even stuff like buying perks and weapons feels smooth and familiar, in a good way. The bosses, enemies and story quest are all very interesting to me.
That said, there are a few things I think could be improved. First off, co-op is really laggy right now. It worked fine when I first got the game, but lately me and my friends have had a lot of issues with lag. I really hope that gets fixed soon.
Also, the gun upgrade system doesn't feel strong enough. As someone who enjoys Call of Duty Zombies, I always liked how the Pack-a-Punch made even weak guns feel powerful. You’d get bigger magazines, more damage, and even special effects. In Sker, upgrading guns doesn’t seem to do much. For example, the starting pistol doing less damage when upgraded to tier 1 than other guns (that have more damage, magazine capacity and fire rate) do without any upgrades. That just feels off. I think upgrades should make every weapon worth using, even in later rounds.
Now about the miracle system is probably the most unique part of the game and I really like it. It’s something fresh that I haven’t seen in other games like this. But I wish it had a bigger impact. I’d love it if the builds we choose actually changed the way we play more. Maybe if guns were a bit weaker and more power came from miracles, it would make the system stand out more. It would also be cool if it was easier to get miracles so we could mess around with different setups and see how they play out. Right now it feels like miracles are there, but not as important as they could be.
Overall, the game has a lot of potential. The vibe is great, the core ideas are awesome, and with a few updates, I think it could become something really special. Finally, I wish changes are implemented to make the miracle build that is chosen more relevant than the gun used.

The following is NOT a review. It is an unhinged & deranged rant about brain rotted consumers, AAA publishers bad, & indie devs good. Ranted by a brain-dead terminally online loser. [Edit: I felt it was worth also throwing in the disclaimer that I am mostly a solo player, so anything regarding multiplayer will not be touched on in this review.]
This game is commonly compared to Call of Duty Zombies because that is in fact where it gets a lot of it's inspiration. But there seems to be this misguided preconception that it was going to be a "CoD Zombies Killer".
Firstly, that's brushing over what this game is on it's own two feet, and putting unwarranted pressure on Wales Interactive to dethrone an industry juggernaut.
Secondly, it may not be a CoD zombies killer, but it is a respectable and faithful homage to what CoD zombies once was - a fun little passion project.
And while I have no doubt that Treyarch, Infinity Ward, & Sledgehammer Games have heaps of passion, none of that passion can realistically be freely conjured into being when you have the manifestation of greed in publisher form breathing and drooling down your neck, micro-managing every resource to push the product out as quickly & cheaply as possible regardless of it's quality.
Wales Interactive being an indie studio does not have this problem. Their passion is free to flow without a demonic overlord dictating their every expenditure of time and money.
Granted, they are a small team, so the game's scale and frequency of updates can not possibly measure up to that of the powerhouse that is Call of Duty. But for those who are patient, they won't mind waiting for updates to trickle in, as long as their money is going to a studio that actually deserves it.
The theme & vibes are great for anyone who likes the horroresque theme of classic CoD Zombies or Killing Floor. The Celtic gods & mythical creatures are awesome, and really just make me want to learn more about Welsh mythology & legends, as well as the mythology & legends of their Celtic comrades of Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, Isle of Man, Brittany, and I guess Galicia depending on who you ask.
The gameplay takes beats from classic & modern Zombies and beautifully marries them together.
I am not an 'old good, new bad' trog, as I quite enjoy modern zombies as well as classic zombies. Some self-proclaimed "Zombies Veterans" might get pissy and start saying "nooo modern zombies bad, it have no personality, it boring, blah, blah, blah.".
And when you ask them what game they started with it'll be either Black Ops 1 or 2. Bruh imagine not being a World at War Nacht Der Untoten kid. In terms of the seniority competition - I automatically win, not that it even matters.
The reason I'm salty about the whole seniority competition in the zombies community is because I find it kind of pathetic how some people in the community squabble over which era of zombies was better instead of just being civil and admitting the reality that everyone has different tastes.
In terms of the volume of content, obviously it's not going to be out of this world or anything. But the game launched from early access with 4 maps and got 2 more post launch as of the writing of this review, bringing it up to 6. "Bruh, only 6 maps. Do you know how many zombies maps were in BO3-" shhh shh shhh. No.
World at War launched with 1 map and finished with 4. Black Ops 1 started with 2 (6 if you count the exclusive remasters of the WaW maps), ended with 10 (6 new maps, 4 remasters. Oh yes, even back then, Activision was pushing remastered content).
Then Black Ops 2 with 2.3 (1.3 being the survival maps which were just sectioned off parts of Green Run and the pre-order nuketown bonus) maps on launch, and ended with 6 maps (No, I am not going to count the turned & grief exclusive maps, that were just sectioned off parts of the main maps, fight me).
So, in terms of the classic zombies experiences which this game could be most comparable to in scale, I think it does quite well with the small team Wales Interactive has on hand. And keep in mind they've got other projects than this game.
Now, I know this game is not perfect, I never claimed it was. It does have issues. The movement system can feel janky, and the optimization is a bit off. But if you can have patience and take a step back from the AAA slop that plagues us, really these shortcomings are not nearly as bad as some people might say. [Edit: And let's not forget how janky World At War was, or how unoptimized modern Call of Duty is.]
That being said, I am putting my faith in Wales Interactive progressively working out these kinks. So if they happen to up and abandon this game, which I don't think they will anytime soon, then I guess I'll just be one of the many voices in the choir of babbling idiots.
If anyone at Wales Interactive ever reads this; you guys are based giga-chads and don't let any of the haters tell you otherwise.
If I ever manage to make the holy pilgrimage to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, I'll have you guys to thank for inspiring me to do so. If you guys are ever in Canada, hit me up. Got some unsolicited ideas to drop. (None of this will ever happen, but it's funny to think it would)
So for giving us this game, I say; Diolch yn fawr. (I don't speak Welsh, but I wish I did.)
Anyways, I hope plenty of people got a laugh out of this "review" (rant). Should you buy this game? Yes.
