I am now officially Milkbar Lads #0.1. Was one of the best games I ever completed. Call me when Dead Estate 2 drops, it's back to the Katamari pits with me.

The first time I tried this game out I didn't really enjoy it, but I recently gave it another shot and I am glad I did. I am always looking for a game that scratches the itch of getting very powerful throughout a run and Dead Estate... does alright in that department. I never feel insanely powerful, but I do feel like good play is rewarded. I actually think that the longer I play this game, and the more it opens up, the more I end up enjoying it. The meta progression is pretty good and I find myself wanting to go back in for another run to check out newly unlocked characters, new levels, new secrets, etc. I am excited to see what this team does next.

Very fun! I'd recommend it on sale if you can wait, but 15 is worth the asking price. I'm gonna list a bunch of the things I disliked while playing because there's 1000+ reviews of the positives. A big thing I wish I'd read or considered before buying is that there's not much replayability in this one if you're not an achievement hunter. I am, for this game atleast, thankfully. If you come in expecting constant dopamine hits from new unlocks and items like Isaac or Dead Cells or any other crazy popular roguelite, it's not here. Outside of the three endings and the ten characters, you won't be unlocking much of anything besides curses to make the game harder. For another boon, I find this to be a very "background run" roguelike. Outside of the beginning floor or two, most of the characters end up playing very similar once they're jacked up on 50 items and max stat boosts. No matter who you're playing at the end of the run you're gonna be jumping circles and spam clicking the final boss without much brain power in it. I listen to videos while I play this game because once you're good at it, it takes extremely little thought.

This game feels like it is designed to be frustrating first, and fun second. Difficulty feels almost entirely artificial, most of the items and weapons are boring or weak, and the unlock structure isn't fun. After 6 hours, I have beaten the game three times, one of which was a true ending run. Pros: - The humor is good - Basic gameplay feels responsive - Characters all feel unique Cons: - The isometric perspective makes dodging attacks feel like pure luck. Good luck seeing where anything is going. - After a few minutes, a giant monster starts chasing you through the level. This is barely a threat on a strong run, but it feels like a 'lose more' mechanic made to punish weak runs - Most items are just small stat changes without any interesting synergies or interactions - Most of the optional weapons are a complete joke and are not worth using. - Heart drop rates are laughably low on normal mode. Paired with how hard it is to see where enemy shots are going, this feels unfun and unfair. - Some items exist just to be annoying. One item just makes the game black and white with no impact on gameplay. This isn't interesting, it is just annoying and only serves the purpose of being one less slot in a shop inventory - The bosses are absurdly easy, outside of one second floor boss who can just decide to teleport on top of you with no opportunity to react. For a game that feels like it wants to be hard, this choice makes no sense. Ignore the blatant fanservice the trailer throws at you and try out a different roguelike, there are plenty of options.

Great game, every time you finish a run you find more to explore, and it still has that NewGrounds feel that i missed.
