Here’s the deal - If you like 8-16 bit platformers that challenge you to get through without save files (there are save points, but only during your session of that specific day) If it was 5-10 bucks I’d probably recommend it - so since it’s only A buck… I think you’d have to be pretty dumb not to know what was coming next… actually there’s no way you could’ve known I was about to put a quick side note in, which is that I forgot to mention that for some reason this game looks and sounds specifically more like something sega master system, but if it had the graphical capabilities of the snes (the colors are really nice, the genesis couldn’t have pulled it off, and maybe even as nice as the 32 bit systems (I always forget that my brain remembers things as if they looked a generation further than they really did.
anyway, the one negative thing I have to add (which is really nothing to do with the game) Is that I of course stumbled upon this by accident, even though I’m constantly searching for similar games, and even specifically using things like “pixel graphics” and “2D platformer” but all I ever see are the usual suspects (million unit sellers), but there’s no shady business - no “pay to play” type of shenanigans going on around here… right?
If the developer sees this, you smaller devs who actually care about making a decent game need to get some type of union going, or at the very least, constantly badger them about how invisible your games are, yet shovel knight is prominently featured on every page related to 2D games! If they try to placate you with some BS like …I don’t know, a front page feature during the next fest or something (I just assume that goes on regardless) DON’T FALL FOR IT!
Those things are basically the biggest farce since “love day”! (you would have to really like the old simpsons episodes to get that, but it just looked way too perfect of a spot for it!
Geez this is long! Ok, I’m off to play this devs other game “7days heroes” for the first time (an oddly named game title in english, but it looks great!) I hope to see more in the near future, this one has a real talent for making game worlds that you want to live in for a while!
