The game itself is great! If you enjoyed the Commando franchise thus far this would be highly recommended....however the amount of bugs and crashes sours the experience a bit...

Wonderful Remake. Commandos 3 is still the series best. However, occasional glitches not withstanding, it is a close second along-with Commandos Beyond the call of duty. There are a few areas where this game is lacking when compared with the original games. As of Mission 6, the alarms do not cause any difficulty whereas in Commandos Beyond the call of duty, alarms actually meant more enemies coming out of the barracks and starting their patrolling resulting in increased difficulty. Another limitation that comes to mind is that enemies that are stunned can't be tied up, and the spy cannot take uniform off of stunned enemies. Moreover, in the original commandos, the environment seemed more destructable. You could destroy a building with remote bombs and grenades. Another area where it would have made perfect sense to copy from the previous games is driving. Driving vehicles was so simple yet elegant in the original game that you could kill the enemies with the vehicles. Another downgrade seems to be that we cannot use mounted machine guns to kill the enemies in this game whereas it was possible in the original. Lastly, entering the buildings/ interiors felt smoother in Commandos 3; it feels glitchy and cumbersome in this game. I highly recommend future developers working on this series to play Commandos 1,2, and 3 so that elements that made those games awesome could be better preserved in future titles.

I was a little underwhelmed by the Demo, but ... I have had a ball with this new entry into the Commandos franchise. As you progress through the game the levels get bigger and bigger, and I think the difficulty does as well. This game really demands team work. No more standing around a corner and shooting enemy soldiers as they appear. One level alone demanded over 5.5 hours of my attention ...... and who doesn't like driving a tank for a change? Excellent game, don't be swayed by negative reviews.

Great continuation of the franchise. Very much loved how detailed all locations are. The game is quite unforgiving but you quick-save and reload and try again

I was going to wait until I finished the game to write a review but after some 4 missions I think I'm able to share my thoughts. I am a big fan of the original Commandos games and I still revisit them often. I was weary of this new title but I must agree with many other reviewers. The game is a wonderful callback to the originals with an excellent update and fresh take on the approach. The ability to set up multiple commandos to act at the same time is incredibly fun. The graphics are great, the UI is simple and easy to navigate and although there are still some small bugs they don't affect gameplay too much (at least for me). So if you remember the old Commandos fondly and wish to enjoy the game again, then get it.

This brings back memories. It keeps most of its classic tactical mechanics and tones. It also has slower pace in terms of combat actions/movement sets, if you compare it to Desperados or Shadow Tactics (not necessarily worse, though, just preference). However the developer decided not to adopt these feature (which I personally praise) such as:
- Fast forward/Speed up in-game time
- Auto selecting fastest route (if you wanna move forward but there is a hurdle in front of you, instead of auto crawl then moving forward, your characters will take a longer path running)

Unfortunately the game is just a parody to the Commandos 2. It has less game mechanics than the game of 2001, It is very repetitive and becomes boring after 3 or 4 missions. Decorations of every mission are different but they are all the same, just clear the map and move to the next one. No story, no relationships between missions.
I guess it is still fine to buy during the sale period.

If you like games of this type you will definitely like this. If you have never tried a game of this type and want to try one I would say this is a good entry point to give it a shot.
I have played all of the Commandos games and I can say that this is a good one. I have a seen a few reviews saying that it is not worth full price and I very much disagree. The levels are quite large once you get past the first two or three training missions and the game is difficult yet fair if you are paying attention to your surroundings like a good little commando. I am writing this review 60 hours in and I still haven't finished the entire game yet. There is enough game for your money here. Make sure you quick save constantly to avoid redoing large sections of a map. I got too cocky two or three times in some missions and went too long without saving and lost a good 20 or 30 minutes of progress. Don't make that mistake and it won't be as frustrating.
There are a few bugs here and there, but only encountered one involving the inside areas of a ship that was truly an issue, but I was still able to finish mission, albeit with a bit of frustration. Definitely not a deal breaker for me and I still highly recommend.

A huge letdown.
The first PC game I ever played was Commandos 2: Men of Courage—what a masterpiece. Destination Berlin was solid too. All the earlier games had personality, depth, gripping stories, and incredible attention to detail—even in the most unexpected places.
This used to be greatness.
After waiting years for a new entry, this feels stripped down to the bare minimum.
Makes me truly admire Gonzo and Jones and EIDOS for what they did
Story:
It just doesn't grab you the same way. Maybe that's subjective, but it feels like the soul is missing.
Don't believe me look at the manual we had for all the items in commandos 2: men of courage, hand drawn and awesome
Bonus missions etc
Gameplay & Features:
- The inventory system? Gone.
- You can’t pick up items, even basic stuff like weapons or clothing from enemies.
- Ammo is limited, and there are no crates, cupboards, or stashes to scavenge through.
- Interactions are minimal—just a few preset traps here and there.
Environments:
They look decent, but performance-wise, it’s disappointing.
The old games ran beautifully on machines with Pentium 3s, and now I need a 5060Ti and 16GB RAM just to get semi-smooth gameplay—still stutters at times.
Water Mechanics:
This part hit the hardest for me.
- No underwater environments, no swim animations—commandos can’t even swim now.
- You get "stealth swim" with limited shore entry points.
- There used to be underwater mines, sharks, and all those small details, all gone.
- Even the dynamic soundtrack’s missing. It all feels... shallow.
I played for about 30 hours, slowly, the way I used to enjoy the different strategies.
At this point, my only hope is the modding community. Maybe, just maybe, someone out there can breathe life back into this hollow shell.
