PROS - stunning visuals - good story - a new universe - diesel-punk aesthetics - combat/stealth is enjoyable - runs smoothly on my 4yo 3060 laptop - good music/sounds - characters are good - chapters replay - not too long CONS - if any, they couldn't be a reason to not recommend the game Something is wrong with this world if games like this get mixed reviews.

I picked this up for $16 CAD; not because I expected much, but because we were genuinely curious. Could this be an overlooked gem? A misunderstood release? Turns out… it’s a case study in how a project can go completely sideways despite access to top-tier tools, budget, and IP backing.
🛠️ The Problems (And There Are Many)

Visuals That Time Forgot
This game looks like it was targeting Xbox 360, then got bumped mid-dev to Xbox One, and now it's trying to pass as current-gen. No ORM usage. No interactive foliage. No dynamic anything. Just flat, outdated visuals on Ultra settings. In 2025, this level of material work and shading is unacceptable — especially for a $70 title.
Cutscenes from the Bargain Bin
The intro cutscene is long, wooden, and lacks any cinematic value. Worse, the in-game visuals that follow are so different from the pre-rendered trailers, it feels borderline deceptive. You only get one chance to make a first impression. They blew it.
Camera & Controls — Default and Detached
The camera setup? Unreal Engine default third-person project. The controls? Floaty, disconnected, and reminiscent of BloodRayne on PS2 — not in a nostalgic way, but in a "why are we still doing this?" way. The root motion is jarring and often hitches right before montages, suggesting poor async loading or no async at all.
Performance Is Not Forgivable
Hitching on a 3080 Ti, 64GB RAM, and i9-9900K. That's not just bad optimization — it's flat-out incompetence. If it hitches on my machine, it's going to choke on anything average.
Price Tag Delusion
The game is being sold like a modern AAA title. It’s not. At $16 I'm dissecting it. At $70 I'd be uninstalling it out of spite. This should be in the $25–$35 range if polished.
Cinematic Bait-and-Switch
The trailers use high-end Sequencer cinematics — which look nothing like gameplay. That’s a major expectation mismatch. You cannot build hype off visuals you never deliver.
🧯 How They Could Salvaged This

Lower the Price — Align expectations with what’s actually delivered.
Cut the Intro Fat — Trim the first 15 minutes. Get the player into gameplay within 90 seconds.
Modernize Materials — Add ORMs. Use proper PBR workflows. Anything.
Fix the Controls — Play any modern action game and learn from it.
Async Load Montages — It's 2025

💬 Final Thoughts
I wanted to like it. Supposedly story-driven. But no amount of goodwill can save a game that feels like it’s from a decade ago and priced for a future it never earned. It’s not even the worst game we’ve played — it’s just disappointing in all the ways that matter.

The overall game isn't bad the combat is complete crap. I'm dodging people who have armor on and using machine guns while I try to punch them in the face. Use the story level difficulty unless you like jumping around like a bunny rabbit in a fight,

Having fun with the game. I will say it feels like it would've been a decent PS3 era game, the graphics and gameplay feel a bit outdated, but it's still fun. I'm enjoying the combat, especially stepping during fights. It's short and sweet. The linear game design is a breath of fresh air after so many other games the last few years are so bloated with slop. Grab it while it's on sale.

I picked this up for $13USD and the first hour and half (tutorial-ish) walks you through the setting and motif the game is aiming for. It's set in the early 1900s with hints to secret societies that have risen and fallen and new ones that took their place. I've had fun with it so far as long as your not walking in with the hopes that every game has to be a 10/10. This is a SOLID 6/10 that is trying to punch up but unfortunately seems to be marred by a few technical issues like shuddering in cinematics and sudden camera movement (ie combat) and while not broken gets annoying. It looks decent enough with graphics from mid-late Xbox One X/PS4 Pro era so most PC's shouldn't have to many issues pushing for high settings with good performance (minus studders). Voice overs are great and the music is pleasant to the ear and the controls are simple and easy to learn and master. Overall, for the price I think I may have found a small gem of a game and can't wait to continue to play it.
