Really amazing game. Absolutely love it. I'd really like to see a game like this that is more progressive open universe... but I'll take it. Worth every penny!

Scratches many itches, good progression and interesting story.

EDIT 2: I got to the endgame, and I'll say there are elements that are definitely disappointing, which I hate to say about this game. It has a lot of neat build opportunities, loot is plentiful, the graphics are flashy and surprisingly beautiful, and this has some of the best feeling controls to a space shooter that I've seen in a while. Combat feels smooth, surprisingly cinematic at times, and is just a joy to look at. It has a LOT of good things going for it. Its biggest weakness is that it appears to have significant depth, yet struggles to deliver the content to achieve that depth. Much of the loot feels superfluous, and upon reaching the endgame, it felt very much like I had experienced almost everything the game has to offer. For an indie game produced by a single person, this is an EXTREMELY impressive effort, and has some absurdly complex systems that can lend to some really incredible builds and gameplay. But in the end, it's a space shooter where you fly about and shoot, and that's the primary combat mechanic. That's not to say that the game itself is not fun - anyone who likes a good schmup will find something to enjoy about this game. It just feels like it could be MORE, like it's SO close to breaking past its own limitations and being something truly ground-breaking. It needs some additional meaning to the loot, the build trees, the weapon variety, and even just a few more boosts to the combat mechanics would be amazing. This game is on the edge of something great, and just a little more can get it there. EDIT: Soooo I just found out this entire game has been produced by a solo dev. HOLY CRAP that changes my perspective further. Creating a game with this many complex systems by yourself is NOT easy, and the sheer level of undertaking necessary to achieve something like this is frankly staggering. Whatever the flaws of the game may be, the developer, Courtney, did it. She made the game she has dreamed of for years, and that alone is an achievement well worth applauding. Original Review: So, this one caught me off guard. At first, I was frankly unimpressed. The dialogue feels very bland and largely unecessary, the core gameplay loop seemed really limited at first, and there didn't seem to be enough variety to the loot, which is a problem for a looter shooter. It is listed as a roguelite, but I don't get very many roguelike elements to it - it's not permadeath EXCEPT for specific events that "break" your profile, effectively starting your playthrough over in a frankly odd mechanic designed to forward the story. This mechanic unfortunately forces you to replay the exact same events almost verbatim, dialogue and all, with only minor changes to dialogue as you progress. While that is a staple of roguelikes (same levels, specific bosses, randomized loot/upgrades, etc.), being able to die and respawn immediately without losing progress and re-experiencing identical story dialogue break parts of the roguelike experience for me (and the single largest category of games I own and play the most are roguelikes). It's got a fair few programming issues, with occasionally odd enemy movement (namely for the bigger battleships), and for a seemingly simple space shooter, the graphics and systems are not well-optimized to prevent framerate drops. Though I have an older geforce 1660 super, I can run games like Destiny 2 VERY comfortably, and even Monster Hunter World plays butter smooth on nearly max graphics. To see a game like this cause lower framerates is a little frustrating. Certain upgrades and loot feel unfortunately bland and unhelpful - afterburner seems to be the only consistently viable boost/dodge, with the others like teleport having a fairly long cooldown before you can dodge again. Much of the loot that you pick up feels frankly unhelpful and useless for anything but to sell for credits. HOWEVER..... The gameplay is amazing outside of these various complaints. What started out as limited loot became MUCH more exciting on the discovery of my first epic item. The affixes are so random that it is hard at first to synergize your builds, but the epic items are often so powerful that this fails to matter for long. The game has many systems you unlock that assist with addressing the various weaknesses of the game - even the low quality of the loot can be improved by finding loot that increases your "loot quality" percentages, and even a 15% increase in this stat drastically improves the items you get. As you further the story, a slew of upgrades become available that allow you to take already powerful items and add even MORE power to them. I'm only on my 3rd playthrough to progress the story, and I have gotten a whopping 5000+ armor (basically, I can't die much). Add an additional story upgrade that allows you to transfer affixes from existing items onto a brand new piece, and suddenly you have the ability to slowly create a customized, perfected build. The possibilities have already expanded wildly. Progressing the story seems to be the way to go to get not only better loot, but better build customization. On the occasions that your profile "breaks" due to a story event, you can unlock substantial, permanent upgrades that add a massive layer of survivability and tools to allow you to succeed where you struggled before. The graphics are delightfully crisp and beautiful. The title screen got me to oo and ah the first time I saw it. There is a wonderful joy and enjoyment to being able to boost around in your spaceship and blow stuff up. Despite its flaws and weaknesses, it's a different enough experience from a traditional roguelike to be a refreshing take on the genre, and the developer has shown interest in feedback, and expressed a desire to work on and improve the game further, so I am excited to see what else she comes up with. I have already enjoyed this game much more than I initially thought I would, and for that reason alone, I am quite pleased with my purchase and happy to play it further.

This game is amazing in all aspects especially for the price tag. ARPG elements of course, but also roguelite elements (i love the loop logic). The fact that it's not a fantasy arpg with shield/swords is very refreshing.

I dunno about performance, as it runs perfectly for me. But what I do know is that this is a dopamine machine for all ADHD'ers. I really enjoyed the loop and even though I've gotten the true ending and, I'm still running loops to unlock things, and I never do that. I'd like to see more content in the story, more fate options to really expand it, but for what it is it's a complete game that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Wanted to like it. But was just not fun to me. If you love just shooting stuff and dodging, then it might be fun. I was looking for a diablo2 in space, and that is certainly not what i got.

Fantastic ARPG. However, the loot progression, like some people mentioned, is a bit finnicky at times. Once you get lucky drops for your build, almost all other loot seems worthless. A button to quickly select all items in your inventory (except favourites) for scrapping would be a huge QoL improvement.

I'd recommend this game, and play it more, if the performance wasn't so unplayable. Aside from the no sell issues, it's actually a pretty interesting game. A top down space shooter with a mix of roguelite elements and a weird loopy story. The story, game play, and skills and weapons are well crafted, if brief. I love the art and animation, writing, and how the story is told, but it's just so short, feeling like a single chapter of a larger story rather than a whole. There is a massive amount of progression, but it's accessed behind very little other content. I would have liked to see more enemies, bosses, levels and such. The roguelite nature of the game extends what is there for a while, but once you reach the end it's clear the inflated enemy health was the only thing stopping me from beating it all in under an hour. There is some secret story stuff, endings and thing to keep me playing. Or I would, but when the game turns into a slide show randomly it isn't really playable. It's not the number of enemies on screen, it's something fundamentally broken with the game at times causing it to freeze for a second, every 3 seconds. It's not playable, nor is the 30 fps the game drops to outside the slideshow. Stay away until they fix it, then think carefully if the short story length is worth the cost.

If you will complain about performance you will get a perma ban and your thread will be deleted. Performance is unacceptable, for what it visually is (basically isometric space shoot-em-up), it eats more resources than stunning full 3D environment games. Which leads me to believe that devs have no clue about compsci at all and have just mashed together default Unity modules and shipped it. Refunding because its not acceptable to ship this in its current state.

The main issue is the illusion of depth. I was consistently shown something seemingly interesting and then I was let down again and again. An easy example is that there are items in the game that suggest there are different ship types, "Capital Ship" and "Warship", they're bigger items, using the main gimmick of the game you can reduce their size to let them fit on your fighter ship and at first you get excited because you're taking different classes' abilities and mix matching them to make a fun build. Except, 16 hours in, there has been no mention of different ships you can pilot and the slow realisation that I will never get to pilot a different ship type is really demotivating. This kind of disappointment happens again and again, which is a shame because the idea is great and this is my type of game entirely. Another issue is performance, very quickly when there are supposedly many enemies the game gets incredibly choppy and it's unplayable, in a genre where many enemies is common and expected this really effects gameplay early on. The story is great, fun writing, I wish there were more options with the rewrite mechanic but it's mostly a funny and likeable part of the game.
