Geminism is the newest VN created by Craftwork, the devs who created the legendary visual novel Sayonara wo Oshiete (Sayooshi), and it seems like it might be in the shadow of its older sibling for the (sadly) foreseeable future. I hope time will change that.
For most, this will just be a fun story they can knock out in a few days and forget. (For me, I think it may as well have changed my life.)
Before we continue, for the male seiyuu fans among readers, the male leads (Awasumi and Tsukishiro respectively) are voiced by Pile Bunker, a pseudonym for a beloved veteran pretty much every animanga fan would recognize, and Sumeragi Mikado, another pseudonym for a seiyuu you may recognize from his many roles in otome games and spicy drama CDs. I think he plays against his usual type here, but his acting as Tsukishiro is charismatic, captivating, and alluring as always. For those who want to check out Geminism just for the male seiyuus, it is quite approachable in that aspect, and I highly recommend it.
The next section goes over my nonsensical personal sentiments, so to wrap up this section for a general recommendation, I'll say this. This is a story for bisexuals I mean for those who love seeing the charms of men and women on full display (albeit in different ways -- this is a male-oriented VN, after all). It avoids so many edgy pitfalls that its overall character is sincerely wholesome despite its landmine-filled premise. It is not a story that attempts to have a grandiose and powerful message that changes your life and never pretends to try. It's just a tale about four ordinary(?) people who want to grasp "normal" happiness, executed in a short (8-12hr), snappy, beautiful, and bittersweet package. "That's a pretty generic description dude. There's millions of stories like that," you might say, but that's all I (and it) have for you. And I think that's perfectly (and beautifully) okay sometimes. A story can simply just be, and I think it's easy to forget that not every story you read has to be the thing that topped the epic thing you read previously.
If that description intrigues you, I highly recommend checking it out! (Or if you really want an English Sayooshi, how about you support the only officially EN translated work of theirs first? It's really that simple!)

Now for the nonsensical soliloquy yappatron9000 you expect from any VN fan:
I hold Geminism close to my heart. For a while, I thought "stories influential to me" could be summed up as ones that I felt understood by or gave me courage to live. The primary things that provide this sentiment are, of course, the characters. Naturally, the execution of the story itself and its contents matters just as much, but I think for a lot of people, they conjure an image of a character and their development when it comes to holding a story dear. (You're probably doing it right now.)
Geminism made me realize that a story "influential to me" can simply reflect your mindset entirely, from the characters, to the plot, to the execution, the whole thing. Geminism's got a bizarre premise. It could easily be grotesque and edgy, but actively decides not to be. It could be extremely distasteful for shock value, but it doesn't. It's oddly male-focused with two very beloved famous male seiyuu as two of the main characters, when it's a VN aimed towards the demographic of men (heck, even the physical copy has a slip case that only displays the male characters when it's removed, which is pretty rare and bizarre in this genre). One of the guys even talks a lot during THOSE scenes, almost drowning out his female counterpart and it's fully voiced!
I feel like Asahi, Nagaoka, and the rest of the staff at Craftwork just took out my personality and made it into a VN or something. It's a really bizarre feeling for your tastes, perspective towards life, thought process, and whatever to be reflected almost perfectly in a story someone else created. It is an incredibly comfortable, pleasant, and healing read for me for that reason. Human connection, especially across people you don't know and who don't know you, sure is powerful, isn't it?
Geminism is incredibly special to me and I hope you, who read this far, can find that story that feels like you yourself, written by someone else. Not a story that understands you, but a story that IS you. That makes you think that you're not so bad after all. Geminism is that story for me, and from now on, I'll cherish it and its four main characters for the rest of my life.
