Excellent Cut Scenes and Immersive play options. I have not enjoyed a game like this since Master of Orion!

A game, very bad in telling you what to do. Even more bad in telling you why to do it. And not a clue how to do it. So... Great game! The director actually becomes a director. You need a brain— not just two left hands hammering away on rock and wood to fill furnace. Look, me smart! So... look, me exit! (and then returning to try again...) Because, it has that itch... the one I need to scratch. But I just have not figured out how yet. Right now, for me, the game still is a mix between appeal and frustration. Let's wait and see what side wins.

Something like Factorio, but game aim's more on story telling and team building

This has a great story and is very detailed in how it works. it has a lot of replayability as well. With at 2 different story lines depending on how you answer certain questions. They have made the process of making this game very open to the players as well.

I really tried to like this game, I have been hoping since before day 1 that this game will improve enough to be actually enjoyable to play, but the flaws in this game means it's not even enough to reserve disk space for it. Here's the thing, it could be a good game. It can be fun, but only for brief periods that are far too short compared to the rest of the game, with too many problems to list here. But in short... the total lack of quality of life for a large scale builder (things like no copy or paste or blueprints of mass buildings), a darn right hostile market system, and unwieldy overall game play that just isn't balanced properly. Add the lack of optimization and bugs announced as fixed (and are not) and the game becomes a frustrating mess and you end up spending long periods of time waiting around doing nothing. To make matters worse, the developer seems intent to make the game even more difficult by making constant changes, so the game drags even more than it did before. The sad thing is this game has been out a year, and you expect better than this. At the very least, fix the bugs that have been present since day one, and maybe be a bit more flexible, and change things like people have been asking. I really wanted to recommend this game, but it's just not good enough and that is on the developer. Ultimately, to put it in perspective, there are far better games available than this one. This just has too many problems to justify, and needs a serious rethink on some major systems.

You guys have such an interesting idea for a game and excellent artwork that you really can't help but want to play it. However, as many players have suggested, it's too constricting to play, very bad from a game design perspective, and unfriendly to diverse players. My suggestion is that your first job is to add customisation options to the storyline mode: allow players to unlock some of the primary tech trees or get higher resources early in the game, and focus the game on diverse route choices later on. Focus is the key to success. Secondly, there is a serious UI interaction logic problem, which many have mentioned before and I won't go into it too much. The game itself has a long single-game cycle, and poor UI can be fatal when accompanied by a long game of the player. Anyway, I had a hard time tolerating these issues and had to uninstall after restarting many times, so I hope to see you guys improve it the next time I come back. Good luck to you guys! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited on 7th July, 2025 To Developer: Thanks for reply! I'm talking about The Crust, yes. If you know your game well, you'll get what I mean. I don't think I need to go into too much detail, as other players have already said most of the things I wanted to. Anyway, I'll take a look at your New Horizon update first and then decide how to adjust my review.

Other than the various bugs, which I hope are being ironed out, I'm really liking this game. Once it gets to the laser stage, things get a bit dicey, so I've had to learn to find good stopping points (currently before fixing the cargo terminal) so I can do the real learning as well as ramp up production. I look forward to any updates, cuz I wanna finish this game.

Addictive game, great developer who has shown they care about their game and the players. I find this take on automation/colony sim innovative and highly addictive. While the updates are slow, they do closed testing. Many developers use us players as testers and rush updates out. The Crust has the bones of a solid hit with much replay value. And from the little I do know about upcoming features the depth and replay value will continue to grow. Edit: One thing that is a bit of a disappointment regarding the developers is they are very heavily focused on Discord, early testing access to Discord subscribers only. This has made me just put this game in the backlog, will get to it again eventually (Well maybe, something better may come along before I get to play any sort of update since I do not use that garbage Discord). While this game is still underrated, I do suggest purchasing it only after it's full release at 1.0. The developers are slow to release updates, then give priority if you are on Discord to updates. While using experimental branch on Steam, but ignoring Steam users who do not use Discord.

Very good factorio-lite with a few novel systems on top. The whole colonist side of base development is pretty rough as of the time of this Early-Access review, it feels undercooked and tacked on, but they do say that's the main focus of current active development.
