I found this game on their original website around 7+ years ago and never knew it came to steam, got it instantly when I found out it was on steam randomly. So this game has intrigued me for years.
Shame there isn't a maybe, the game is alright. The game is brutally slow, nearly unplayabley slow with 1 resource gather (rather than 2 that can be set in the menu). So that is basically a requirement to play. The controls are pretty poor, I get that is part of it but accidentally selecting your king when you meant to select a military unit is pretty unacceptable.
The games factions are actually pretty fun as well as asymmetric and well thought out all considering the scale, this isn't really a AoE depth game or anything. They all play really uniquely. AI doesn't feel cheap, if it gets ahead it will continue to do alright.
Unfortunately between the controls and the short length (took me 3-4 hours to 100% the game and achievements) - at least the price is right. Nice little side game for an RTS player.
