Recommended! The trailer explains the core mechanic of the game which is pretty simple. Goal is to get your slime through the very skinny exit. The only controls you have are 4 direction keys (or on your controller). Take all the time you need to figure out your next move. A couple more keys to restart or exit the level.
There are a couple of mechanics introduced as you progress: sharp barriers/walls which instantly kill your slime if it touches them, movable blocks that slide until they hit a wall when your slime slams into them, buttons (onto which you can kick a movable block) that disables sharp barriers.
There's no undo, which is probably fair because the levels aren't long if you know what you're doing. I say probably fair because adding an undo button would make the game too easy.
The only frustration is if you die (by touching a sharp barrier) or get into an unwinnable situation later in a longer level, when you restart, you have to try to remember (or partially rethink through) the first (up 10-20 on longer levels) moves to get back to the place you at least thought was the last good state before you made a wrong move from which you couldn't recover from.
There is a "hard" difficulty level which I did not test out, but adds a move limit counter but otherwise gives identical puzzles as "easy". I presume if you exceed the count before getting to the exit, you fail and have to restart the level. I decided at the outset that I didn't want to deal with that additional restriction so played all the levels on easy.
It's not a long game. I believe just 21 levels if I recall. It took me 3.3 hours to complete on "easy". Achievements are unlocked as you progressively complete levels. So in that way I got all but one achievement, which is to complete the game on hard. Good enough for me! I think you have to complete a level in order to access the next level, but I did not try to skip any levels so I can't say for sure.
Bottom line is this game is fun, challenging but not too difficult, cheap, and just the right length to not wear out it's welcome. I also thought the art and animations were top notch. I got this game at 60% off which was ridiculously cheap. It's worth it at full price.
As soon as I completed Dungeon Slime, I saw there is a sequel, which seems to have more mechanics and fancier graphics. I immediately bought the sequel as it was at the same ridiculously low sale price.
