Somewhat fun roguelike game, but it didn't last long due to various bugs and issues.
Story
To be honest, I didn't see the whole story. Based on hidden achievements, I never see the true/actual ending despite having cleared both Easy (green) and Normal (yellow) difficulty. But from what I've seen, the story feels barebone where I don't feel invested.
Gameplay
What I like
+ The core gameplay is simple to learn and difficult to master.
+ All 3 weapon types (sword, bow and wand) have mostly good balance, where each has its strengths and weaknesses.
+ The RNG is good enough to prevent me feel screwed over.
+ Control feels good, despite I'm playing on VM.
What I don't really like
- On easy and normal difficulty, the amount of dropped credit (required to unlock upgrades/mechanics) is very low. I didn't want to grind for tens of hours, so I edited "globalSaveData.rpgsave" to have tons of credit I have.
- Crafting isn't really rewarding, as it ends in failure or doesn't produce good items. Half of recipes I learned come from tips on the loading screen.
- Tutorial could be better.
Bugs
Here are list of bugs and issues that I encountered and remembered,
- Nothing happens when using certain items (e.g. cards that randomly give major buff or minor debuff).
- Item "Dice" isn't gone after being used. It means you have a cheat item that gives either HP, MP, gold or certain items.
- In the shop, sometimes it doesn't mention name or type of the item.
- In the shop, you get different item from what you purchase.
- In the shop, you get nothing when you purchase something.
- Explanation for few equipments or buffs contain text "undefined".
- Some texts got cropped.
- Some texts either not translated or feels too formal.
- Some stats (e.g. LUC) isn't shown.
Other
This game doesn't run on my Linux device, even after trying various versions of Proton and installing some library/dlls. So I decided to play this game on a Windows VM.

I don't recommend Diary of Lucie, especially for those who aren't familiar with roguelike genre. You should look for polished and finished titles, such as Hades instead.
