Just seeing this game brings me great joy but it would be more fun if Ollie got it as well

Game rolls a dice to decide whether it will let players connect or not. Really fun when it does, not so much when it doesn't...

My wife and I bought this game while it was on sale. We have loved every minute of playing this game together and we wanted to share what makes this the best date night game.
Hers: This game is the perfect mix of cooperation and competition. We like to add two or three of the opponent AI for a touch of chaotic randomness. Then we collaborate on what pieces look the most fun, its best to wait for after the AI chooses then we discuss our pick since the timer doesn't start until there is only one person left choosing. When it comes to laying down the track, it is hilarious because we are trying to plan a vision and the AI have none :).
As fun as making the track is, the racing is where the chaos comes to life. You can slam into each other, screaming into the abyss below with the horn blaring (or ice cream truck song fading into silence). The bumpers are my personal enemy as I have flown air borne off the track many a time. The benefit of having some of the AI in the game is that way you don't have to constantly do a particular difficult part. That does sometimes mean you boo the AI as it races itself at a snails pace. There's nothing quite so bonding as yelling obscenities and creative insults at the screen together. We both hate and admire the AI racers (sometimes we're just a smidge salty). I do recommend having sudden death on. It is very satisfying to trash talk and then take an immediate left into the depths below while on a straight bridge.
His: This game is the most well designed party game i have ever played. From a game design standpoint you can tell that each mechanic was carefully designed and well executed. We have only encountered 1 bug, which is both so funny and also sometimes useless to the person taking advantage of it, wherein holding the horn on the milk truck will give an almost permanent speed boost separate from the boost item.
The item selections are fun to use, when they're useful, they run the gamut of standard racing game items.
But with how hard it is to see the track in front of you when moving too fast, you're just as liable to run off the edge of a corner as you are to win the race.
The fact that it's so hard to see the track in front of you prevents anyone but the absolute best from maintaining a fun destroying lead.
life is cheap and death is easy. a checkpoint is placed every time segments of track are added to the current track between runs.
the track pieces available are incredibly fun designs that encourage you to race to grab the most fun piece, but the best strategy for optimum fun is to wait until everyone else has chosen, so you can take the time to decide what is truly the best piece.
The track pieces are unlocked through gameplay, earning oodles of points every race that unlock several rewards each race, giving that instant dopamine hit as you learn of the existence of an item right before unlocking it. Well done.
This game is absolutely a 10/10 Strongly recommend.

I might just not get it, but it puzzles me why the game gets such massive positive appraise. The trailer looks super fun. People in the reviews tell you it's the next best thing after Ultimate Chicken Horse, but this one felt kinda boring. While in Ultimate Chicken Horse you get the all the freedom of building a platformer level together with your own paths of different difficulty and messing with other people by placing that crossbow where they definitely didn't want it which all compounds over rounds, here the actual placement just doesn't seem to affect gameplay all that much, sometimes it's a harder, sometimes easier, and I don't think I would've noticed if it was just random and we got rid of the whole build-your-track aspect completely as the track gets longer and more tedious and confusing over time. There are lots of pieces, but they don't add tons of variety (unlike, again, agh, a more limited selection from UCH) and you don't really get to look at them for long at such fast pace. System for unlocking them also seemed strange, which is like leveling a gamepass (?!, not actually called that, just reminiscent of mobile games, here everything is free). The camera leans down heavily over a narrow piece of road not giving you much insight into what's coming so in the moment it feels like just pressing gas and left or right rather than actually racing. Weapons from random Mario Kart-looking boxes are kinda useless and just get you to press horn all of the time as you're always right next to the players - there aren't many winners or losers, the actual scoring comes down to milliseconds of you crossing the checkpoint lines provided you survive. The controls are fine I think, here I am actually not complaining, though it did feel like there was a whole lot of aid I might've not actually controlled the car all that much - without it you'd probably just get instantly yanked off of a very twisty track. We couldn't find a lobby with matchmaking as well at the time - I must say I had better success finding a game with FlatOut 2 (released 2006). Playing with bots is fun though, you basically get to see the process of track generating in real time and then cars driving just like in those "I taught AI to drive" videos on YouTube. Soo... Not plenty in the UCH-kind of fun domain. And the trailer is a bit misleading. I would've kept it even if it was just another Trackmania or ported Mario Kart, but unfortunately and in my opinion it is not either while it doesn't get you much as a standalone. With great friends you can have fun wherever, but I don't think it's the best investment especially at this price point (you know that it's good chance we'll get x4 copies, why charge so much that it'll be even harder to coerce friends into buying it?)

Simply a great local co-op game, definitely would recommend as it is pretty unique and you get to build your own track and unlock more the more you play. It makes for a great time with friends!

Great game!
One bug: players should be marked for dead when falling down so the camera control does't kill the player on track which might be slightly behind but still alive. This feels unfair.

This might be humanities single greatest accomplishment. I haven’t laughed as hard as I did playing this in quite a long time.
Quite easy to learn, although it can be a bit buggy at times and the hit registration can be a bit confusing. (sometimes you’ll hit a car and sometimes you can occupy the same space on the track with no hit detection) But honestly that’s part of the charm.
Cutting the map is difficult and big risk/reward, but pulling it off is a very rewarding feeling. I don’t have a lot of time in the game right now but i’m looking forward to seeing more of what Make Way has to offer.

Plays flawlessly over Steam Remote Play. Highly recommend with a group of friends and with Remote Play, only 1 person needs to own the game!
If you like this game, try Ultimate Chicken Horse. Or if you've played Ultimate Chicken Horse and wanted to play that kind of game with more people, this plays 6!
