This game has no instructions or even a list of controls. Very difficult to figure out what to do and there is no clear goal. Do not waste your dollar on this game.

I only recommend this game in its current state for or under a 1$.
I been following the development of this game and wanted to try it out and support the developer. Before the latest the update I was unable to make any progress. many aspects of the game was unplayable, mainly the combat. Now after the update, things are better. There is a clear goal now, there are also instructions that tell you where to go next. The combat still isn’t great but its much more forgiving now, and you can actually survive the hordes of enemies now.
Pros:
Soundtrack
Beautiful pixel Art
sense of humor
rpg feel
Hammer throw is satisfaction
Cons:
Combat is clunky
at times UI is also clunky and unintuitive
Wand and machete weapon wouldn’t work (Couldn't progress farther because of this)
Enemy spawning feels off (Too many spawn in one spot – right where the player is, and they don't all disappear in the morning like I believe they are suppose to.)
Unhittable enemies (Ghost the follow and damage player, but you cannot attack them)
I love the feel of Lost hope! For a first-time game it’s a great start, just need more adjusting and one day I can see it being a great game.

Last Hope is not a game I would personally recommend. Sure, its music and graphics are charming, but the movement feels slow and clunky, the combat is dull and there are quite a few pointless areas that feel like they are just placed there to distract you from the main mission.
And on that topic, this game does literally nothing to help you figure out what you're meant to do. It doesn't explain anything to you and that would be okay if the game would have information that gave you hints, but it doesn't. You're just expected to luckily stumble upon the next item / npc / hidden area.
Very dissapointing experience.

I haven't played much at the time I made this review, but it's hard to understand what I have to do.
I died many times in the game and I didn't realize ghosts or bees were attacking me, so I think the devs should make a tutorial at the begining.
I like the art of this game and the game developer's YouTube channel, but this games need to be more polished (adding tutorials, explaining how to get money, making enemies more visible and make some UI effects when you get attacked).
Obviously, a saving system would be cool too, but I know it's hard to make one as I made (and I'm making) some games in Unity too.

Pretty good game, nice art. Has a few bugs that are actively being worked on to fix, the game authors have been really good with listening to feedback!

I really liked the artwork and animations, spamming the hammer is fun and its a relaxing game to play. The tile sets and sprites are there but some of the game mechanics could use some work, as well a some bug fixes. All in all I really enjoyed the game and the fact that it was made by two teenagers is amazing regardless.

First of all, the music and art for this game is great! It's very unique, combat is okay, might need a bit of balancing, and since the last time I played, the game is much better, though still has a few bugs and things it needs work on, but I'll leave more info on that in the Vuvuu Inc discord.

first of all, the game is beautiful, and the music very admirable. Now I would talk about room for improvement but I read the other comments and they have summed pretty much all the real issues so I just politely ask the dev(s) to work on these but either way Im happy I managed to give a small 1 dollar contribution to the work youve been doing as I have very much enjoyed the devlogs throughout
thank you for you knowledge, entertainment, and extremely affordable price in the past months and wish me luck on my own game dev dreams

Play through attempt here...: https://youtu.be/XDxMEvdKp7I
Usually I would write out all the problems I found in the game, but it's in the video this game has frustrated me to no end after spending so much time on it. I think the creators had some neat ideas but the execution is god awful. I tried to be as calm and collected as I could be trying to play this game since it was a first attempt, but I just feel defeated and still confused. Hopefully the play through will help someone clear the game if it's beatable in it's current state.

I have been watching the game dev vids on your channel for about 3/4 of a year. When I saw the release video, I instantly headed to steam to buy it. I was really excited.
The Art and music are super good, but the gameplay is not-understandable and extremely hard (in a bad way, not like Getting-Over-it-hard).
I'll start with the tutorial. When I jumped into the game I had no Idea what to do and just walked around randomly. Then it became night and monster spawned and killed me (even monsters I couldn't see?????). When I died I spawned at the blacksmith without any text saying "You died", I was just teleported there. There the monsters spawn-killed me. I also have to say, that you can't really distinguish monsters from the environment or bullets from coins in the beginning, making it really hard to fight.
After reseting for a while, I found out, that there was a church, that could be entered by pressing "e". There I found the light-staff. I had no Idea what to do with it.
The main problem is, that I didn't have a goal in-front of me while playing, resulting in lack of motivation. That's the reason I got bored really fast. I just tried to find a reason behind playing the game, which is always bad, especially at the beginning of a game. It wasn't resulting in fun or a feeling of accomplishement. Adding to that was the fact, that I had no idea about the controls or any hint to how the game works.
This is why I don't recommend the game.
For the Devs:
- Add a Tutorial, that tells the player what to do (please not 10 pages of text like it's right now)
- Show the player one big goal, which will create a basis of motivation and then smaller goals, which will keep the player playing
Update #1:
I found some time to play this game now and I have to say, that I had a great time! Really good update! You guys did an excellent job! The combat was really fun and satisfying!
Here are some things I would like to see in another Update:
- time stops when in menu
- save states
- stone guy with many small stone guys should drop more gold
- when picked up shield don't know what to do
- controls don't explain shield
- holding E to break stuff
- don't know how to use light staff (i just kept selecting slot 1 and 6 and invisible guys died (idk))
Here are some bugs (?):
- weapon over foreground stuff when using
- after going to new area not updating quest to something else (was really strange; didn't know if I did something wrong or the game
- sound queuing (?)
- when 'starting' sounds like when hitting monsters the sfx just stack and play after one and other
