Love the cute aesthetics of the game, the enemy design it's so dumb and funny. The gameplay is fast with great variety of powerups and upgrades, plenty of action and the light mechanic gives depth to the combat.

Figured I'd give it a chance again after my cpu and motherboard were upgraded after the massive amount of crashes this game gave me. Nope, it won't crash though, but everything is bugged. First UI went bugged, after that I bodyslammed an enemy and get stuck permanently. The devs haven't done any bug fixes or performance patches since the start and just added 2 new characters and called it a day. A shameless moneybank game, such a shame I bought this way too long ago and thought I just needed some upgrades. This game is the disgusting reality of some early access devs.

I'm sad to say the game at 1.0 is worse than it was in early access for me. The player controller camera is glitching out a lot zooming in on walls and clipping in ways it never did before. The first boss is now invisible for me, so I can't make it beyond the first world where as I beat it many times in early access. Overall disappointed with 1.0.

this is unfortunate to write but i would honestly just play the demo and wait for the proper release if you are interested. a demo came out what feels like a year ago in a game festival on steam and it feels like nothing has changed in that time. there is a demo still available and that's what i would play for now or alternatively i would just play risk of rain 2 which is what this game pulls a large amount of inspiration from with none of the polish, now i know its early access but even when ROR2 hit EA it was much more together than this. Positives all with caveats -it Looks good albeit not the most detailed areas the first and second level look identical really other than shape but set dressing is nearly the same. -concept i like and could be played with well but so far it really doesn't server much of a purpose. Negatives -shooting doesn't feel good really at all, its also super floaty and not that precise. - there are some gun variants i think? but i could really only find the same gun but with different elements -enemies do not telegraph well at all. it is so hard to tell whats attacking and when, half the time it feels like you just aren't seeing the animation for the projectile or it never existed -difficulty really just comes down to amount of enemies not a skill in dodging them or maneuvering around them just get a way from the ever growing amount of creatures and it doubles the issue with the last problem i mentioned. -Rogue items don't really seem to do a lot to vary the game-play or change much its just X% of damage or health most of the time, extra health, typical of what a skill tree would potentially add in a game like this. which it also does that. - double jump is an addon you have to purchase with in game currency which would be fine? but seems unnecessary to be locked away to start with. -performance isn't the best? it runs at a solid frame rate but has some pacing issues with frame times i believe, the frame rate lock does not work and it also didn't in the demo you have to set a frame rate lock in NVIDIA to get it to cap even though there is one in game. v sync also doesn't lock to the refresh rate even though the game has you choose it on your resolution type. its confusing to say the least. -menus also don't really fit on 3440x1440 though the game supports it, lots of text overlap and missing ui elements. -also i cannot see or tell the cool down on items and grenades but i think that is also tied to the above listed issue. i could keep going but i think you get it, id like this game to work i love games in the rogue like genre and have played nearly everyone of them, this one just needs a lot of work to get going. again if you want to see it for yourself play the demo and i think you'll have a good idea of whats currently on offer.

Game's fun, the shadow mechanic is pretty unique, but there are issues in need of addressing... Firstly, the second playable character feels... underwhelming and weak, also slow, compared to April... Secondly, more importantly, the game has an issue of softlocking when you complete the event "They're raiding the pirate base!". Essentially, you complete the event, and suddenly, you can't use any abilities except jump. You can also crash the game with equipment. Fix the softlock, or I'm done.

The developers specifically stated that this Early Access release was in no way intended to be anything near what the game will be like at full capacity. Many people could not wait for some kind of release to play this game, and this was that. The start of this game is extremely fun, and by combing through it a few times, you can definitely see that there is potential with it. The devs are extremely devoted, as they are constantly responding to noticed bugs, and hopping on them as quick as possible. This game was everything I expected it to be, and then some. I cannot wait for an eventual full release, and will continue to play this Early Access until there is one!

Die After Sunset is, genuinely, pretty fun. It's not too complicated, it's pretty to look at and has some interesting challenges you can go for. However, I have already done everything the game has to offer right now and there isn't enough content for me to really want to play anymore of the game, over something like Risk of Rain. There are not many items, and most of them don't have enough of a significant effect to even be noticeable. The bosses are set, so you always encounter the same three. Because of these things, the runs always kinda feel the same. Unfortunately, I can't really recommend DAS right now, as fun as it is, because there is simply not enough content for the asking price. Definitely keep your eye on it, because the devs are really on it as far as fixing and new content goes.

I played this a decent amount during the open testing and after beating it a couple times, thought it was fine enough. But after waiting a few months for a large update or two, it still feels off. The gunplay just feels very weak, and the upgrades and items you get just aren't very fun or creative. I forget monsters even get stronger in the dark honestly, because they just get beefier, that's really it. They heavily lean into this gimmick, but that's all it really is. A gimmick. Nothing wrong with gimmicks, but it doesn't really change how you play or approach them. You just shoot while slowly walking to the side so you don't die. Nothing your character does is particularly interesting or fun, and the gunplay feels so off. I wish I could explain it. Most games feel good from the jump, especially shooters, but this one doesn't. I think they need to take a step back and think about the core gameplay, because it just doesn't feel very varied or different. They can add as much content with characters and maps but the enemies and gameplay itself just aren't there, when they should be at this stage.

TLDR: Fun game with good promise. I've had my eye on this game for a good while, about 6 months ago I saw a bit from content creators and enjoyed what I saw so I put it on my wishlist. Now I just beat my first "run" since there's only 3 bosses; 1 hour into the game, on my second try. Though I did enjoy it; there were certainly a good few caveats. 1: The movement feels off for how much the game acts like it wants you to use it, minor spoilers but the third boss requires a lot of precise movement. 2: The enemy spawns could certainly be improved, I wouldn't think that while I'm standing on a platform that can hardly hold myself; that things could spawn on top of me. I was wrong on several occasions. 3: The basic dodge with no upgrades feels almost entirely useless, you'd be better off just walking in that direction. There feels like there is a delay from me pressing shift and it activating, and I've no idea if there are I-Frames or not. 4: The game requires more precision than should be expected from a third-person shooter, it's not awful once you get used to it but it can be frustrating to shoot and move, especially as the bullets are projectile rather than hitscan. 5: The upgrades can be a little frustrating when it's almost nonstop elemental resistances and getting consumables from an upgrade chest feels wrong, consumables in my opinion should be tied to event rewards in some way to get players to gear up from chests before taking events to have a better chance at getting a higher rank and therefor better rewards making for more fun progression/snowballing. 6: Obviously there are bugs in an early access game, I mean it came into early access the day of posting this though it doesn't feel overwhelming albeit a tad annoying. 7: Controller play feels weird, almost as if there's aim repulsion rather than aim assist, stick with keyboard and mouse for now. Those are my main complaints, overall the game is a fun experience overall especially if you're a big fan of Risk of Rain 2 like myself. The event system is really fun to get rewarded for, and the time limit makes for shorter runs meaning you can play it more often than other games of the genre while on a busy schedule. The visual style is beautiful in it's own right and the visual upgrades to characters can range from goofy to straight up awesome looking. Story isn't spectacular but there are few roguelikes/lights that focus on the story in favor of fun and intuitive gameplay.

yeah, dunno. I wish there was a "not yet" option. combat doesnt feel that good, enemy shots can pretty much decimate you at any range as long as they have line of sight. dodging seems a bit useless when its easier to just backpedal or run away. starting weapon is all but worthless, at the very least it breaks boxes. i really want to like this, i was fully onboard with the "keep them in the light" mechanic, but im not sure yet. probs try again later once its had a few updates, but for now, nah. not for me.
