Just a warning before you buy, be prepared for LOTS of bugs and jank. I tried to make this game work for an hour, and here's what I found (and this is AFTER trying the suggested fix of wiping previous save data I had from when the game came out): 1. Menu froze on one of the tutorial trees, the "close" button could not be activated by ANY means and reappeared after I restarted, though it finally let me close it then. 2. Saving and reloading data is very iffy. Sometimes it'll start you back in the place you saved. Other times, it will drop you back at the start of the game's tutorial. 3. Not a bug, but if there is an option to turn off the narrator, you'll probably want to take it- hearing him gets repetitive very quickly. 4. The game doesn't seem to tell you how to get other hallowmon, at least not up to where I was able to play to before 5 happened: 5. After making it to town and starting a sidequest involving collecting cats, the game randomly deleted the one monster I had. I dunno how this happened, but it happened. I reloaded my save, and it dropped me back at the beginning of the tutorial with still no monster. I ran all the way up to the point where you run into a forced monster encounter and the game softlocked there because I had no monster to fight with. Restarting again- STILL no monster, so I'm assuming I have to dig back into the appdata files on my computer to delete my save entirely and start all over again from scratch if I want to keep playing beyond this point. I love monster taming games, it's literally my favorite genre of game, so I tried my hardest to give this one a fair shake. The monsters (what I've been able to see of them) are cute! I dig Halloween aesthetic like nobody's business. But this game is making it REALLY difficult for me to like it, let alone recommend it. If these bugs are ever fixed, I may give it another shot, but until then... Save your ten bucks.

I wanted to wait to post a review until I had completely beaten the game- (All of the achievements, that is. Though there is one side-quest I haven't finished yet). Overall, I really enjoyed the game! I liked the stylized cartoony visuals and the fun Halloween aesthetic! The different Hallowmon were unique looking, and interesting. The open-world is large enough to make it interesting to explore, and the side-quests were also fun. The story being told is intriguing as well, and I of course won't spoil anything in this review. The extra things you can get by collecting candy is nice too, such as unique trails, and a really cool retro-effect. I've had a ton of fun with this game, and I believe that I will continue to enjoy it! I also cannot wait to see what Stratton Studios creates next! There is only one complaint I really have about the game, and it isn't too bad. While there are many unique Hallowmon to get in the game, by the end of it I found myself primarily sticking to the first one you get, Turtairy. Turtairy became strong enough to essentially one-hit any threat I came across, excluding Hallowmon types that it is in-effective against, though Turtairy could still beat them with ease. Because of this I never entirely felt the need to switch Hallowmon. Evenstill, this was only really an issue in the late-game, and doesn't effect the main story much at all.
