7th entry in the MOAI serie. As the previous 6, it's a time management game (i.e perform a serie of actions in a given time to reach a predetermined goal).
For those who don't know anything about the serie, it's a good enough time management game. It works without issue (on Win7 64bit at least), the game is responsive, there are in-game achievements, etc.
For those who are familiar with the serie, well, it's another story. What's obvious right at the beginning is the change in the levels' design. Obviously, a new team handled it. I finished 58 of the 60 levels with gold time on first try. That is clearly a sign something's different. Several levels could be finished in less than half the allotted time ! on first try !
Another change is that there's no more mana temple - only MOAI statues to get mana.
Now for what I believe is the strangest part : the pirates (island invaders) can freely wander by and ask for ransom on any exploited land (farm / mine / etc.) What's strange is that you can't interact at all while he walks to said land. You could zap out the ghosts that randomly came and attacked your constructions in previous entries in the serie. No such luck here, which is VERY frustrating.
There's no bonus levels (the star ones that triggered on the map when all, on its way, were beaten with gold status). Also no bonus level in the menu once you've beaten all the "standard" levels.
Some achievements imply to replay many times already beaten levels - I gave up once everything was with gold status.
I think this entry is not as good as the previous entries in the serie, however it still is enjoyable. It took me 8 hours to make it through with several in-game achievements still open.

No, I wouldn't recommend this game. I bought three time mgmt games during the Winter sale and they are pretty similar; all are later entries in their respective series. And they all work the same: clear roads and fix or start production buildings. So why a down-vote here and not the other two? Because I didn't enjoy myself, because I wasn't invested in the characters and that made the game random and tedious.
That's it. There were no technical issues or game-breaking bugs, so if you want a mindless time-management game feel free to try this out. I simply can't recommend it; the story is nonsensical and makes both siblings look idiotic. Also, the pacing is off: you defeat the evil villain (actually called Evil Villain, I'm not making this up) around level 45, then spend the next 15 levels just running around doing errands.
Finally, I believe the charm of the MOAI games is that they have a unique mechanic: you may need 3 different resources but only have 2 buildings, so you need to tear one down and replace it with another eventually, and hope you can beat the clock and accumulate all three. In this entry, out of 60 levels I think I had to do that twice. Everything was very linear.

Love the Moai series of games but so very disappointed with this game. This is almost worth asking for a refund. Each level takes only a few minutes and really feels like its all just the tutorial. Technically also badly planned as many of the building options are covered by a pop up so you might demolish when you want to build. I got more entertainment from the little bonus levels of the previous games that I did from this whole game. Also this game is the same cost, takes a fraction of the time to play time to play and has no bonus level. Save your money or buy for the kiddies when its on super saving price
